VeraceSzk is right. I saw the Twilight Zone episode last night on MeTv. It was written for the 1964 episode by Jeff Alexander and sung by Bonnie Beecher. Look it up on Wikipedia, it tells you what the episode and song are about. The song is beautiful. It sounds like an old folk song.
This song is from the Twilight Zone. Everyone who is over analyzing this song in some context or another is wrong. It's from the Twilight Zone about the man she fell in love with. The episode is called "come wander with me".
been wondering. . . i think this "away from. . ." part was sampled somewhere in an ambient-ish electronic tune. i bet quantic, caribou, something of that kind but thats only a loose guess. do you know what could that be, anyone?
My interpretation is that the girl in the forest, represents the Innocense of Humanity living in Harmony with Nature as "wandering gatherers" Living in the Garden of Eden The End represents how we are now surrounded with Fake walls of Death Instead of Nature/Life.
Nothing can match her voice, I have heard others who have tried to sing it again... It has such depth that it beats anything else... So deep, so sweet...
@calico992 actually the song was at first made solely for that episode and was sung by Bonnie, who was the actress in that show, and it later became very popular that it was soon mainstream.
Great artistry in the song and vid but the vid is a cop out in my opinion. There is no choice when it comes to growing into adulthood. Life is pain; time passes by without consent. Nothing is gained by trying to hold on to childhood or blaming others for its departure.
@hbomb2704 Have you ever listened to Jackson C. Frank "Tumble in the Wind"? It might not be what you're looking for, but he was a very troubled man and wrote some really beautiful songs before he died. Sorry if it's not what you're looking for.
I have to say that this song caught my ear back in the sixties when i was a child and this was playing on tv. I ran to the room to see what this song was. This is a nice interpretation of it.
This is about her realizing how the man she once thought she loved was not what she expected him to be and how she ended up with her childhood dreams broken and never achieving what she once aspired to be and never loving the hypothetical One that was really meant for her.
He said Come wander with me, Love Come wander with me Away from this sad world Come wander with me He came from the sunset He came from the sea He came from my sorrow And can love only me Oh where is the wanderer Who wandered this way He's passed on his wandering And will never go away He sang of a sweet love Of dreams that would be But I was sworn to another And could never be free
This is about more than "growing up" or leaving "childhood" behind, its about losing innocence. The song and the video are equally haunting and strike a chord in all of our inner psyches because no one in this world is "innocent"
@stitchedupslut I can relate completely to your words... like the portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa wrote "I had the greatest health of not knowing at all, of being smart amongst family; not having the hopes that others had for me- once I had my hopes for something, I knew no longer how to hope, once I gazed at life, life no longer had meaning"
@stitchedupslut The song itself has nothing to do with 'growing up' though. The video has very little to do with the content of the song. Considering the source of the song, I guess making a video that relates more closely to the lyrics would be pretty hard to do. And I guess they are kind of vague, but in the Twilight Zone episode the verses eventually tell a story.
@HolyBomb You know, I once had someone legit make fun of me for liking Twilight Zone, and no matter how hard I tried to convince them it was made 40 years before those awful books, they were not hearing it. Humans seldom impress except in the field of stupidity.
i really want to know what the video means i guess its something like she dont want to grow up or she grew up too quickly and didn't like it ........so weird yet great !!!!
I think the problem is how dull they decorated/painted their house. If they'd been more adventurous as adults, some orange, warm and cool hues, it'd be alright. Better atleast... That and a few interesting hobbies. Yeah.
Really, really great stuff but I have mixed feelings about the video. To me, it seems as though she is being lured out of her innocence, like she had a choice, and the male figure is the bait. In the bedroom she seems to resent him for that. Anybody?
It's beautiful. I love the dystopian vibe it all has. I like that you have to think to understand it, and that, because it's not obvious, you can watch it over and over again and it doesn't become dull. The idea of her innocent childhood turning to this scary, twisted world of adulthood is fantastic. I love the deal with the glasses, like she's taking off what blurred her childish world and entering the stark reality of growing older. And one day she realizes that she can never, never go back.
Very interesting. In the original version of the twilight zone, the wondering man was a jerk who wanted to steel a song and make it big, abandoning her at the fist chanced that he could, but her devotion to him blinded her to what a creep her really is.
Interpret this how you want.. its nothing short of genius. It has so many levels. The cinematography and song are crushingly beautiful.. It reaches into your soul; it makes you think. Amazing
gay? what like your dad? or your brother... Leave your personal comments at the door you soppy cunt.. I bet you're a fucking yank aint ya? American slag i hope you die of cancer
funny thing - you don't choose to be a kid - you just wind up on a journey, playing out the best and worst parts of it. at root, it's like a spell. then you wake and you're an adult.
I was shocked to see the woman turn around only to face the skulls, presumably of the critters she abandoned. These are powerful images going on in this video, accompanied by such a wonderful song.
the modern world is corrupt and leads children astray into a life of decadence, depravity, and self-betrayal. the key is to stick to the one true path. though it be quite narrow at times, it never fails to nurture and inspire.
Even though the video kinda changes the meaning of the lyrics that were done for the episode on Twilight Zone, it's still pretty awesome. Kinda gives it another twist, LOL
This is kind of representing innocence lost. The man was the one to take away her perfect world and introduce her to reality, and her whole small fairy tale world was burned.
