  • i want it :< but one big problem...no money

  • Got mine a week ago really happy with the build the pre amp has a lot of controls to to maximise tone sounds really bright with a new set of strings inlays are beautiful cant see any downfall to this guitar very happy

  • Whats wrong with the bridge?

  • @elsonvarkey it's a split bridge, perfects intonation and the equalization of the guitar and the pickup since the b and e strings are not wound

  • Love these. Own a G Series myself.

  • Does the guitar so horrible, that it comes out not any sound? That's an odd thing.

  • that had to be the best review of a guitar I ever heard, it made want one, I had the Takamine 12 jumbo, sold it and now I'm looking to buy this, if it has the same action as the 12 string brother it will be just what I want,I own a $4ooo.oo Taylor but I'm not really all that happy with it. more expensive doesn't meant better.

  • Great review!

  • Hi! I've got an Takamine EG440c and I'm considering buying a Kyser 6 string capo. Will a kyser capo work well with it? or a dunlop trigger?

I have a TA-TAN16C Takamine and i just want to know if the soud is just so diferent to these one, being one a japanese and the other(g-series) Korean? Is it a good price-quality investment? If you have any more info about the 12 string one, please let me know. Thank you in advance ;D

  • guitarrrs :D

  • I saw one for sale... think i should get it?

  • Nicely done. Couldn't ask for a better guy to do this!

I have a cheap GS430S G with a solid cedar top. I've been around guitars many years and would say the quality is surprisingly good up and down the line, Even mine, with a satin finish, is paid great attention to detail.

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP! Does anyone have any knowledge or can give approximate value on a 1980 Takamine Hirade signed Arte10 handcrafted concert model Acoustic guitar?

  • By the way, I'd like to see more videos of Mr. Marcure introducing guitars.

  • We'll make that happen..thanks!

  • Hierarchy generally goes USA<Japan<Korea<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<China, Indonesia

  • No USA made Takamine

  • @JillsTheme allow me to correct you Japan>England>USA and no other countries are worth mentioning in terms of acoustic guitar production :D

  • i recentlly bought a used takamine guitar for 300 like the one to ur right.....did i get a good deal?

  • love my takamine EG540!

  • There is no better or worst... You need to play either and you´ll choose the right guitar. It doesnt matter if it is China, Korea or Japan... I have a lot of USA guitar but I have a lot of China, Korean Acoustic guitar... All are GREAT! But you need to search for a great instrument.

  • i have a takamine EG340SC and i love it, but i was just wondering if their is a big sound difference between the g series and pro series, like a EF340SC for example.

  • As great as the G-Series guitars are, it's hard to imagine that the Pro models are much better..but I have to tell you..they are! The craftsmanship, the woods, the electronics..all exceptional! If you ever get the chance, pick one up and give it a play.

  • @robtherep01 g-series are only from korea?

  • No..Korea and China mostly

  • Hey, from what you said, it sounds like you make those guitars yourself... but, I thought Takamine was a Japanese company... so, do you build guitars of their designs, or do you simply deal them? By the way, my dad bought a 1990 limited edition Takamine, probably the best I've ever played, unfortunately, it was damaged in a fire and doesn't play the same...

  • robtherep speaking on Mike's behalf...Mike is just trying to explain the difference between Takamine Pro (Japanese) and Takamine G-Series (Chinese, Korean). All Takamine guitars are designed by Takamine and manufactured in Takamine factories.

  • @robtherep01 do all takamine are made in korea?

  • Just received my Takamine G440c. It's pretty amazing. Love it.

  • Hi, I am looking to purchase a EG363SC the one with the Rosewood and quilted maple on the back. I love the look of this guitar, does the sound match up to the looks because at £350 yes I'm based in the UK, it seems very cheap for the amount of effort that's go into making this guitar.

  • I know, it seems too good to be true! This is a beautiful guitar that sounds amazing, plugged in or not. I'm confident you will love it.

  • just bought a Takamine EG-541 SC G-Series

  • Awesome..thanks for choosing Takamine!

  • my friends told me that tagamine is very good...i played with lot's of acousic elecrtics guitars before i choose which to buy and i have to say that takamine is the best choise...very good sound and worths more than they cost...I love my new guitar hehe :D

  • honest

  • Hello Mike. U R easy to listen to and easy to understand. Thanks again. Is there a G series Takamine called GS-330S. what R strengths and value. rod.

  • Hey Rodney, this is robtherep answering on Mike's behalf. Yes, the GS330S is a great acoustic only non-cutaway guitar that features a solid cedar top and satin finish. This a very warm and rich sounding acoustic for a VERY good price!

  • what are the strings that Takamine use when the guitars are first stringed?

  • Light guage D'Addario

  • How good is the EG440c model?

  • We think it's great! Well balanced, plays great, sounds great, great price!

  • Hi, I just purchased a EG523SC, Just like the one that you are holding. I have two questions. On this model the abalone inlay is exactly the same on my Jay Turser Les paul copy. I was wondering if there was any relativity to that, and also my niece had a TAK with a Gecko inlay on the neck could you tell me what model that guitar is. She sold it and is looking to get another, Thanks, Shane

  • No relativity to the other guitar mentioned. The Gecko was a limited edition a few years ago and is no longer available new. You may be able to find one in the used market.

  • Hello. I'm considering purchasing the Takamine EG440C or EG440SC. I'm having trouble finding information on what the differences are between these 2 models. The only possible difference I can find is that one may come with a laminated spruce top and the other a solid spruce top. Is this correct and are there any other differences between the two?Do these guitars come with a strap button where the neck meets the body? Thanks for any help.

  • Yes..the only difference is that the EG440SC has a Solid Spruce Top. And yes, The G-Series guitars feature a strap button where the neck meets the body.

  • Hello, can you tell me what gauge the factory strings on a G540S FB are? I am getting interested in fingerstyle guitar. Do you think I would need to change to an FXC, as you mention your video?

  • Strings are light gauge acoustic. Try fingerstyle on your guitar first. If it seems too uncomfortable or that you can't get your arm over the body and in the right position, then you might consider an FXC.

  • Hello, can you tell me with what gauge (or even what kind) of strings the EG523SC and EG523SC-12 are factory set up with?

Is there any limit to what the 12 can handle (gauge)?

Is the flamed maple back and sides solid or laminate?

    Thanks.

  • We use D'addario acoustic strings and use a light guage for 6-string and I believe extra light on the 12-string. There IS a limit to what most 12-strings can handle..would not go past light guage. Some folks even tune down and use a capo, just to keep the extra tension off the neck. Flamed maple back & sides are laminate on the EG models.

  • Thank you VERY much!

  • does anyone know if this guitar comes in another size besides the jumbo size?

  • @mkamify It was made for a short while in a mini-jumbo, or what Takamine calls NEXC body. Model # EG543SC. It's discontinued, but there may be some out there. Search the web for that model #. Good luck!

  • I plan on getting this guitar for Christmas, I was wondering how much of a upgrade would this be from a Ibanez AEL20E? My Ibanez is okay, but the tone is kind of dead and starts to buzz after the twelfth fret.

  • @cjw4050 I'm not familiar enough with nor do I want to get into comparing different brands. I can say that I think you would be very happy with a Takamine G-Series guitar.

  • What is the difference between the Takamine G Series EG124C Cutaway Electric Classical and the EG128C??

  • @andyywz what you refer to as EG128C is actually EG128SC and the difference is that the EG124C is a laminate spruce top with mahogany back and sides , while the EG128SC features a solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides.

  • whats the difference between the EG340sc and the EG360sc any sound differnce or just looks?

  • the EG340SC uses mahogany for the back and sides, while the EG360SC uses rosewood. plus, the EG360SC has abalone binding, which adds to the looks.

  • correct..thanks for helping me out!

  • Thanks for your reply Rob.

and just one more quick question.....

I'm leaving for Colorado in a couple of weeks, and I want to leave a humidifier for my guitars. This Takamine is going to be my first acoustic-electric, and the humidifier I have for it is the Planet Waves one that suspends between the strings with a sponge enclosed (I wish I could post a picture here).

I'm just worried; is there a chance that the humidifier could damage the preamp or wires running inside the guitar?

  • You should be fine as long as you follow the directions that come with the humidifier

  • I just ordered a EG530DLX blindly without playing one. I played an EG530SC at my local Guitar Center, loved the sound of the sapele.....and I read the the DLX model had a solid back, so I went for it. I read it was a new model foor 2009. How would you say it plays compared to other G Series Dreads?

  • @haithereimazn All Takamine Guitars are set up to play great! However, once they leave our facility, the guitars are exposed to different elements than can change their playability and cause them to need some adjustment. Not being able to play the guitar first is the down side to ordering online. There should be plenty of room for adjustment if your guitar arrives with less than perfect playability.

  • I have a gs430s and it's a g series and not an electric acoustic, just an acoustic

but I think all the others are both

  • robtherep01

what would you say about a

Takamine G Series G5403S-VFT NEX Acoustic Guitar

    for 400$ ?

  • What would you like to know? The price seems right for a brand new one.

  • im planning on buying a s34c

    its a nex cutaway

real cheap and it a jasmine by takimine

  • anyone know whos selling a takmine np15??

  • ok well thanks anyway brother.

  • im buying a used takamine g 360sc for $500. i just wanted to know if its a good buy. and if it have good action.

  • @TheCFH666 I don't normally comment on "used" product. I can say that $500 for a used EG360SC seems high. You should be able to buy a new one for $599.

  • can you tell me about the Takamine G Series EG360SC, i'm thinking about getting one.

  • Sure, what would you like to know? Great guitar. Solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides, great electronics, nice abalone trim.

  • hi, i bought an old EN-20 sunburst color acoustic-electric guitar. How can i know the year of fabrication?

  • Take a look at the serial #..first two digits are production year, next two digits are production month. Does that help? This method may not work if the guitar was made for distribution outside the U.S.

  • wow, thx a lot, guess that should be it then.

    serial # is 92080709, so i guess it´s a 1992 guitar, I thought it was older.

    thx again!

  • I caught a re-run of The Eurythmics on VH1 Storytellers the other day. Dave Stewart played a G-series. It was the black cut-out model with electronics. (You can see a couple of them in the background on the racks in this video)

  • I bought a G-series last week. I tried out about a dozen or so guitars. The Takamine was the 4th instrument I picked up. I looked at the salesman and said "Oh, my. I think this is the one." Anybody who has fallen in love with a guitar knows that feeling.

I let him show me lots of other guitars, but there wasn't a single one in the store that came close. I've been playing it for about a week, and it's pure joy. Just the right guitar for me.

  • i am an experienced guitarist and am doin my grade seven classical guitar soon and i play lots of electric music with my band but sometimes i would like to play acoustic . is the eg440sc a good guitar for its money?

  • Great guitar, I think you would love it!

  • hey i just started learnin how to play the acoustic a couple of months ago and i want to invest a good guitar. i was lookin at EG363SC cutaway and i like it a lot. do u think this is good for a beginner? and any other guitars u think r good for beginners?

  • The EG363SC is a great guitar for a beginner! It will continue to serve you well as you develop as a player and even start playing live! We have a few other models that I could suggest, but if you really like the EG363SC..GO GET ONE..THEY ROCK!

  • awesome! thinks a lot man...im stationed in japan right now so im gonna wait til i get back stateside, but im definately gettin one. thanx for the advice.

  • hey. i've seen reviews about the guitar saying that the action is fairly high. is it true?

  • well its not SUPER high, but it is kind of high.. but the strings are easy to push down, it doesn't really feel too high when i play it in comparison to my old guitar.. hard to explain, try one out, i personally like them alot but it is all a matter of opinion.

  • All Takamine guitars are set up with a nice, playable action that can be adjusted up or down to suit the player's taste. However, guitars could need further adjustment once they arrive at the stores and hang a few days, due to changing weather conditions.

  • I have the EG440C in quilted red

by far the best guitar in the price range

  • Is the EG440C the only one that comes in the quilted red?

  • yes

  • i really want a Takamine guitar! :) what type was he holding in his hand, do you know? please :)

    - Joseph ^-^

  • EG523SC 6-string..also made in a 12-string version

  • hi, i just purchased the jumbo that he is holding in the video. i dont know what the notch filter does, the in/out does, and what the mid contour does. please get back to me on those 3

  • i'm considering to buy a G series takamine but i'm not sure which one. maybe EG541SSC or EG523SC. can you please give me your pros and cons for both of them. would like to know your opinion. thanks

  • I'm happy to help. First, I have some questions...1) Have you played either guitar? 2) If so, what are your thoughts? 3) The EG523SC is a jumbo. Is that too big? 4) Do you perform on stage?

  • hello, thanks for reply! i played EG523SCB and liked it a lot. not too big cuz i'm almost 2m high :). didn't play EG541 or 543. wondering about the sound.. 541 uses nato?? don't need it for stage playing because i'm a mainly electric guitar player but who knows one day.. i'm looking for a solid guitar

  • and, yes, i use a combo of fingerpicking and strumming and would like a nice deep sound. a lot of bass so i guess a jumbo would be better? thanks for help

  • Sounds like you're leaning towards the EG523SC jumbo..this is a great guitar and one of our best sellers! The other models you mentioned earlier are all fine guitars, and are all around the same price, but are smaller in body size and would not have the big sound of the jumbo. Just remember, should you play the jumbo on stage, you may want to use a sound hole feedback cover to reduce the potential for regeneration...feedback! Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

  • thank you very much

  • hello. i want to ask u ....is there an accousitic takamine guitar lik htis shape or its all acc-elec???? plz reply

  • Hi there! If you're talking about the jumbo Mike is holding in this video, than it is only offered as an acoustic/electric..EG523SC. We do offer acoustic only guitars, just nothing in a jumbo at this time. I hope I've answered your question. -Rob
