When a supercell thunderstorm stirs up dust on the outflow boundary at the leading edge after a long dry spell or in an area that is typically arid, dust is stirred up and advances forward ahead of the storm. I have never seen this much dust on the leading edge of a storm and the fact that there was enough cloud cover and dust to make it turn pitch black is really cool.
I can admit this..... I wouldn't turn around... I would drive through it just to scare myself... lol :3 Until like... this massive rock comes out of nowhere and crushes me... lol
That feature there is called a "Haboob". Which is a dustorm that forms on the gustfronts of thunderstorms. They can be AWESOME and down right scary at times such as this one featured here in this video.
I was wondering if you were in Oklahoma for that. I have seen simular storms there followed by raining mud. That was in 1977.You have seen an awsome sight!!! Outstanding video.
san jacinto in clai had a bad dust srorm like a year ago jeese we had like 12 kids and teacher walk off campass or got lost my eye was in pain cus a small pic of dirt hit it hard and wen it was over the dirt was so sof t it was cool
