"So sad" indeed. Sorry, man. I can only hope that mine doesn't end up that loud. When I first got my new slim, I played Halo 3 and it was perfecly silent. Then I switched to the orange box and I could hear it running, but it wasn't particularly loud, but ever since I played Portal on the Orange Box, my 360 slim has never been completely silent like it had been the first day.
I just returned my 4gb today because it was so loud it was annoying. Im gonna wait for microsoft to fix this problem before i get another one. Im sure there will be alot of complaints after christmas
@jackassicecream I dont think its "defective" per say. Mine still plays and works fine. Just gets loud at times. One might call MS and explain to them the issue and they "might" fix it or something, but Ive decided to just deal with mine as annoying as it is at times.

Mine did the same thing the magnet holding the disk down isn't aligned and it cracked my disk.

its a defective disk drive, microsoft will give you a free one if you report the problem

agree extremly loud mine does the same thing. i first though it was broken i think il just take it back and stay with my ps3
