Since the game is mostly combat-orientated, I'm gonna assume you're fine for the platofrming parts.
Just learn to put together combos that allow you to keep going, that way you're not a sitting duck for attacks and also you can keep the flow of action going. Remember offscreen enemies can't attack, although if you have them onscreen for long enough to start an attack they'll definitely finish it, so watch out and keep aware of your surroundings.
Yeah i'm fine with the Combos, usually i get an S for 3 enemies in SoS, and Can easilly put an SSS in just a bit (with automatic off, i'm not that lame xD)

Don't accuse me of "faking" combos. Combo building is easy in this game, if you can't do what I do, I pity you; I play at a medium-skill level (S Ranked all modes). That's the level of a normal DMC player you're looking at.
Also, you can find out for yourself what to do at the Saviour. Learn better English.

Nice job!!!I got an S rank on this mission when Sactus kept blocking my sword attack in mid air (much like Dante does on the ground). The rank went up kind of fast. I was in mid air for like 30 seconds. then I just dodge his atttack and kept going attacking him until the end. 5/5 for S rank.
not bad man! and nice to see a ps3 player for once :) u bet me on both time AND stylish points (i did it in 3:17 and got 5487 stylish points) HOWEVER i got no damage as well as no item and trust me that gives ur points a HUGE boost and my devil hunter rank went up to 126113 points and was ranked 385 the last time i checked. my PSN ID is BryJovi1988 if u wanna add me ;) i cant do those aerial swoops, where u gotta move analogue stick from back to forward whilst in mid air AND with R1 and tri grr
know what man, i had that same problems before.. i can't do the shuffle and the calibur.. but it all changed when i got the hang of it.. first of, you got to be fast.. if it says back-to-forward.. then its got to be a split-second speed.. hold R1-jump-airhike-back-forward(fast)then ur melee(default is triangle)... if ur not fast enough then nero will perform a split, instead of the calibur..same applies for shuffle..=)

Ah, so you CAN counter that sword attack with a well timed Buster. That fight was giving me fits on Devil Hunter and SoS because when you get his life down to a few bars, pretty much all he does is is that attack where he lunges at you over and over again and I would just dodge and then wait for the next opening, which was sometimes a long time in coming. This knowledge makes it much easier.
lol, most of the counter Busters were kinda instinctive to me. I knew Buster was probably the solution on Devil hunter when I realised I couldn't hit him when he went into his charging state. Strangely on DMD, his health has to be ridiculously low (half a segment?) for him to use the charging attack at all O_O
It hasn't been quite as easy for me to figure them out. It took a wrong button press for me to figure out that you could throw Credo's spears back at him, and I don't know of any counter Busters for Berial, Bael, or Echidna, though none of them are very hard to beat. The only one I guessed for myself was the one where those Angelo guys all form up and shoot this giant black ball at you. I bounced it back and killed them instantly and my combo meter instantly went SSS. It was pretty cool.
Why did you keep rushing him when he did the laser move? You got hit both times you did it :) Just take the safe way out and back up, you can then grim grip back to him when it's done.

After Echidna starts to glow and shoot seeds at you, you can buster her when she charges straight at you. The timing is tough to nail though.
