@jcsamhall im pretty sure thats vermiculite.. in that case hes doing the rite thing, as vermiculite holds moisture very well... which is what t.blondi's need....
they aren't that dangerous, people exaggerate too much, plus they aren't even classified as spiders, from the camelspiders website: "They actually aren't spiders at all, they're solpugids."
And they are only 6 inches long, and are NOT venomous. Thanks to the net, there is plenty of ugly exaggerations around.

They do jump under camel's stomachs [hence the name]
And they do suk the juces out of the prey and they can run 8km per hour.
They do not scream when they run, but the biggest specimien ever caught was 15 inches long..all the others are like 5 lol.
