What a great little car, it bet it has response and feeling my big heavy supra jza70 twinturbo limited could only dream of. When i was younger i got the chance to have a ride in a GT apex notchback leven....i know people tend to exagirate these cars abilities but i was scared, i had never been anything that could turn so hard the g forces where pushing me into the door!

Question? Do you feel like you really need to double clutch rev match downshift? I think old trannys have that thing where double clutching is the only way to avoid crunching the gears. I race a RWD Mitsubishi and I need to double clutch as well :|.

I just want to know if it's a trend among old trannys :|...

@Lkjbl 1.hachi roku is 8-6 in japanese but you probably knew that, 2.im not even going to bring the anime in to this. 3.technically speaking the corolla levin is an ae85 while the sprinter trueno is an ae86, while in the u.s. its an ae88 corolla. 3. ill agree they werent originally made for racing/drifting or what ever but thats the point of modding it to expand its alreeady sound capabilities. im not hating either just pointing things out,

And tsuchiya was one of the first guys to start drifting right after kunimitsu, tsuchiya liked how kunimitsu would drift the apex of the turns. So tsuchiya picked up the driving skill. And earned the name dorikin( drift king ) and the reason kunimitsu drifted was cuz he was tired of winning and wanted to spice up his driving for the crowed.

I hate initial D and ae86 has an almost perfect wight distrbution makeing It an awesome drift car and the 16v was made to be revved past 4300 cuz that's where all the power is

@iloveheavymetal3 I don't drift because I don't want to. I have 2 Hachi Rokus, none of them are drifting. I use them only to grip. With a good setup the 86 is an exceptionnal grip car. The Levin you see on this video is actually more effective than my ex S2000. You don't have to drift to have fun wiht an 86. You know Tsuchiya's Trueno ? Look on the BMI videos, When he races, he doesn't drift with his car. I live in the French Alps...

@iloveheavymetal3 - In the beginning, there was no such thing as drifting in the race world. These were born to perform in grip racing, even in rally events. So to say it was meant to drift, means you watch WAY too much TV and are pretty, no actually definitively ignorant. Its a person who made drifting exist, he started it, and not even in that car. the 86 just ended up as a low cost FR car that had decent basics that you could learn in. Grow up, initial d and your 24?

@MRm3dia Hey mate i actually enjoy initial d myself ( in japanese not that horrible rap shit), i think its an interesting take on raceing and compareing cars strength and weeknesses as well as an indepth look into mechanics and physics of a moveing veachle in different situations. Hachirokus were made famous because they were awesome track cars. when the King was able to master it and stay in first place with a 6 second lead he drifted around the corners for fun.... So there are the facts. Its a crazy badass grip car above all.

cool video, but sounds like your downshifting is off...you're double-clutching, which is fine (although not typically necessary in a street car), but the revs are falling too low when you go to let the clutch out . the synchromesh is matching up the revs for you too much. try giving a bigger blip or letting the clutch out quicker after your blip. you can hear the trans "match up" after letting the clutch out..if your rev-match was perfect, you wouldn't hear that...love that induction noise tho!
