It's name reuse to increase sales, but the fact is that every R6 after Raven Shield plays like random FPS #17216273 without any tactics or challenge. I'm not saying are they good or bad, that's opinion, but there is no challenge and they are not real sequels.
played and love both games. rsv2 is a better game because weapon choice is personal preference, map playstyles can change game to game, teamwork is essential, weapons and equipment are bannable to a lobby, more unique control system, ect. (i could name a million other reasons)
I love both RSV1 & 2 and the COD series, but they're both completely different.
Overall I prefer COD's control system, but I prefer RSV2's tactical elements. Call of Duty is forgiving in the sense that if you get shot, you can run, hide and recover. In RSV2, if you screw up once you die.
I like MW2's spec ops mode, but generally once you've played through a level you develop a strategy and it becomes easier. The Terrorist Hunt mode in RSV2 is always different.
Rainbow Six is definitely better. Realistic combat no taking twenty bullets and then regenerating here. Not to mention you have to use strategy not just xerg rush like in CoD. Realistic characters: Not the Hollywood soldiers like in CoD they actually act like human beings not cardboard cutout "badasses" . Better story: The simple premise of all Rainbow games: here are terrorists, stop them. CoD 4 and MW2 have plot holes up the ass.

i have played COD: MW2 for x box in onlin mode only. The game is great. I have on my ps3 vegas2. I like the cover system in vegas 2. Im looking to buy MW2 on the ps3. I wonder if its gonna be better, than on the x-box.
I agree with the comments that say you can't really compare the two. RSV definitely focuses more on close quarters and corridor combat. COD4 has more open map gameplay, so if you enjoy things like sniping, you'll be more effective in that game. COD4 also has much better graphics and a better storyline.
Personally, I enjoy the multiplayer on RSV much more. My first issue with the COD4 multiplayer is the spawn system.
I feel that the somewhat random respawn encourages camping and never lets you punish the campers. Camping lets you pick off 4-5 people, at which point you'd start to get your killstreaks going. In RSV, if you can kill someone camping, you're able to push them back to the spawn point, so it's more like a battle for territory. In COD4, you can kill a camper, but he'll just spawn somewhere else and camp all over again.
Another problem I have is that there is no spawn shield when you die. It doesn't happen often, maybe once every 3 games or so, but I'll sometimes spawn in the middle of a gunfight or in the middle of a killstreak. Besides the spawning issues, I just hate those little bastards hiding in the corners then randomly noob tubing into a firefight. Other than that, I enjoy MW2 a lot and it's the game getting the most play on my PS3 (I played RSV and RSV2 on my 360 the most before I sold it).
So, if you enjoy corridor fighting and more deliberate action, you'd probably like RSV more. By the way, play RSV with a mic as it is more enjoyable that way and you'll need it to plan so you can take your objective or avoid getting trapped in your spawn. On the other hand, if you enjoy a fast paced game where you can just run around shoot things (or would rather just go for better graphics), pick CODMW2.
i think that these two games arent compareable, because call of duty 4 modern warefare is a game to have fun and make lots of ills with rushing and so on, rainbow six vegas 2 is a tactical game, where you have to plan how to win...thats me opinion fuck you
Cod you can run around the missions peek and poke around and be fine with it. Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, is like. You stick your arm out of cover in a gun fight for 1 secound and your dead. I am having such a hard time trying to beet it, and im on dificulty level medium. You absolutly cannot run through the game and beet it. Cant be done. cod is a great game. i have every singe cod game. And nothing against cod but i would defanatly perferR6V2 over cod any day, i just love the realistic reality of it.
That's the thing about R6V2, you need good teamwork when playing the single player campain. Like you said "You can't run through the game and beat it"... that's true, you need to use you AI computer players or you will have a VERY hard time trying to beat the game. COD MW2 is more of a solo effort, you can beat the game on the hardest level by yourself.... it throws teamwork out the window.
i have both games, and i like both a lot. although i have to say COD is better. RSV2 is great, but sometimes your AI partners can be the sole reason you get yourself killed. they're so incompetent.

R6v2 sucks cock. The graphics suck, the guns suck, and the maps suck. Cod4 is no doubt 100x better than all the r6 games put together. Cod4 is so perfect and the movement and graphics are outstanding. R6v2 seems like it was put together by a 12 year old retard in like 6 hours.

Wait, so what makes someone a pro if they still die easily. I think a balanced game should have a clear distinction between the skilled and the noobed. the funny thing is that I try to "run and gun" (which gets me killed) in RSV2 because usually when somebody notices me playing stealthy I get kicked from the game, but I guess I really shouldn't blame RSV2 for that
Both are actually the same in multiplayer. Except rsv2 is much harder to kill someone and you'll also have to be accurate if your not used to shooters without crosshair when your walking.
To be honest. I love Call of duty 4 and WAW. I also love Rainbow six vegas 2. But i'll have to go with rainbow six vegas 2. The graphics might not be as good, but it has pretty good online multiplayer. Also, it's actually DIFFICULT to kill someone. In call of duty you just go and kill someone with like 1 shot with a pistol. Also i found myself playing Rainbow for a lot longer. I lasted 1 year without buying another game, but for both cod4 and codwaw it lasted only 8 months combined

How would you snipe if your standing in plain sight? They are special forces too which means they should be able to carry all this equipment comfortably. Call of Duty is faster gameplay with better perks , Gameplay,variety . The story in Cod 4 was way better then rainbows with Bishop sounding like a douchebag. poor voice acting and a underwhelming ending. Cod 4 had a epic ending.

There are no wicked grenades to use smoke run in kill 4 wow? the maps are horrible with it being confusing to find any1 and some maps start of 1 team in plain sight which means the other can just kill them as they spawn. Rainbow six is too slow and boring for me

It really depends on personal preference I guess. I bought R6V2 and love it. It is my favorite xbox 360 game, and it accounts for about 50% of my xbox playtime. Bought COD4, beat it once and I have no desire to play it again. If another R6V is released, I'll buy it. If another COD is released, I won't.

Other than that, I enjoy MW2 a lot and it's the game getting the most play on my PS3 (I played RSV and RSV2 on my 360 the most before I sold it).

So, if you enjoy corridor fighting and more deliberate action, you'd probably like RSV more. By the way, play RSV with a mic as it is more enjoyable that way and you'll need it to plan so you can take your objective or avoid getting trapped in your spawn. On the other hand, if you enjoy a fast paced game where you can just run around shoot things (or would rather just go for better graphics), pick CODMW2.

Cod you can run around the missions peek and poke around and be fine with it. Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, is like. You stick your arm out of cover in a gun fight for 1 secound and your dead. I am having such a hard time trying to beet it, and im on dificulty level medium. You absolutly cannot run through the game and beet it. Cant be done. cod is a great game. i have every singe cod game. And nothing against cod but i would defanatly perferR6V2 over cod any day, i just love the realistic reality of it.

That's the thing about R6V2, you need good teamwork when playing the single player campain. Like you said "You can't run through the game and beat it"... that's true, you need to use you AI computer players or you will have a VERY hard time trying to beat the game. COD MW2 is more of a solo effort, you can beat the game on the hardest level by yourself.... it throws teamwork out the window.

cod4. Because:
1. you have to host games to play online which is lame because you get kicked all the time.
2. lags too much.
3. 2/5 games I play halfway through a game I suddenly hear constant machine gun fire that never ends till the end of the game.
4. smoke grenades are useless in r6vs unlike in cod4 were they actually help you.
5. snipers are all the same and arent varied.
6. How are you supposed to be able to snipe with a pistol firing from the hip?
7. shitty and bugged game code.

R6v2 sucks cock. The graphics suck, the guns suck, and the maps suck. Cod4 is no doubt 100x better than all the r6 games put together. Cod4 is so perfect and the movement and graphics are outstanding. R6v2 seems like it was put together by a 12 year old retard in like 6 hours.

the funny thing is that I try to "run and gun" (which gets me killed) in RSV2 because usually when somebody notices me playing stealthy I get kicked from the game, but I guess I really shouldn't blame RSV2 for that

Both are actually the same in multiplayer. Except rsv2 is much harder to kill someone and you'll also have to be accurate if your not used to shooters without crosshair when your walking.

To be honest. I love Call of duty 4 and WAW. I also love Rainbow six vegas 2. But i'll have to go with rainbow six vegas 2. The graphics might not be as good, but it has pretty good online multiplayer. Also, it's actually DIFFICULT to kill someone. In call of duty you just go and kill someone with like 1 shot with a pistol. Also i found myself playing Rainbow for a lot longer. I lasted 1 year without buying another game, but for both cod4 and codwaw it lasted only 8 months combined

How would you snipe if your standing in plain sight? They are special forces too which means they should be able to carry all this equipment comfortably. For wanting to be a brain-dead idiot with weapons that have the same affect as the last game, with a modern skin, it's Call of Duty.
For Tactical decisions, with multiple weapons that most, if not all, can besilenced, allowin for quite kills, like in Real Life, Rainbow Six.
Of course, I prefer the latter because it doesn't have a horribly cliched story

Call of Duty is faster gameplay with better perks , Gameplay,variety . The story in Cod 4 was way better then rainbows with Bishop sounding like a douchebag. poor voice acting and a underwhelming ending. Cod 4 had a epic ending.
I would rather play cod 1 then rainbow six vegas 2 as the ai is much better in it. Rainbow six vegas 2 ai is bull as on realistic if i shoot 1 in the head with a silencer while the other isn;t looking they all know where i am. plus not to mention Cod 4 better graphics

I agree with the custom being cool it doesn't really affect anything as your are not going to be stronger or faster .
There are no wicked grenades to use smoke run in kill 4 wow? the maps are horrible with it being confusing to find any1 and some maps start of 1 team in plain sight which means the other can just kill them as they spawn. Rainbow six is too slow and boring for me

i have both games on my ps3. i used to be addicted to cod 4 until i lost it... so when i got rainbow six vegas 2 i didnt expect it to be good, but it shocked me on how good it was! more guns, cuustomizable characters, terrorist hunt! it was much different, so its very hard to compare.. bcuz cod4 has better online play, way more game modes, and strategies

It really depends on personal preference I guess. I bought R6V2 and love it. It is my favorite xbox 360 game, and it accounts for about 50% of my xbox playtime. Bought COD4, beat it once and I have no desire to play it again. If another R6V is released, I'll buy it. If another COD is released, I won't.

well crouch feels more realistic to me then the whole backing into a wall because it really doesn't make it fair for the opponent because u see him infront of you but he doesnt see you...when you crouch the opponent cant see you and you cant see him...which makes it more realistic and you would have to think more... you wont just aim and shoot like in vegas 2...thats all i was saying..

COD4 has a better DEV and community that takes care of their games. Rainbowsix Vegas 2 has Ubisoft that doesnt take care of their fans and sell Half ass beta games. That arent ready for release. Rainbowsix vegas 2 has so much to offer but fell short. I love the Rainbowsix series over COD but COD has better DEVS that care. That is why COD have a huge fan base.
