@12345zxcvbanjo I just bought the Phenom II X4 970 Deneb from Newegg for $119.00. Big boost from my Athlon II X2 260. The AMD Phenom II's seem to becoming scarce since the FX line was introduced, but an Fx-4100 is about $120~ as well, but you need an AM3+ mobo to take advantage of the new chips.

does the fan suck or blow ? if it blows from outside onto the grill its wrong side... a cooler must (physically correct) suck the warm air from the grill ... otherwise its blows warmed air upon the warmed grill ... result heating ... i tested my many different grills and fans .. most fabricators / producres dont turn the fan to the ougoing air blow .. so your colling grill heats up .. if you turn the cooler the difference in temperature may reach up to 10′C

The board can range around 145$ i think. Sometimes it's hard to choose which motherboards to choose to put this thing into, but that motherboard is a fairly nice and good one to use it with.

Good Review. AMD Phenom II X4 970 is stronger than Intel's that have similar price. 3.5 GHz with 4 cores, sounds amazing, but i will have to wait a long time to finish my college and start working before I can afford it.

My 970 came with the older heat pipe cooler but it still runs cool and it does not go over 42c with it when playing games. I wouldn't over clock with it though. I doubt the newer stock cooler is much better.

@massmurderer02 u sure can my pc has bin on downloading i been playing games on it yesterday for like 5 hours 2day for like 2 then left it on over night idle temps at start up 25C for 1 hour then after a while idle is 35c then on load usually 45-48c does not freeze or nothing does not get hot all with stock heat sink and one 120mm exhaust fan running at 2200 RPM 4.0ghz I tried 4.2ghz it does nto freeze either but I mean it does not increase my fps since my graphic card sucks balls. gt 220 sucks

@MDrummer96 it depends on what you will use it for. if you will be only gaming, then get the 970. if you will be gaming and using graphics software, then get the 1090t because it has 6 cores. for my self, i would buy AMD 1055t + CPU cooler and overclock it. the 1055t is cheaper than the 970 and the 1090t, and you will have great performance after overclocking it.

@mauzzeppelinhendirx Always check the motherboard manufacturer's website for compatibility of the cpu for the current board you are asking about, I would do it for you but then you wouldn't learn anything.

@mauzzeppelinhendirx The chip should work with am3 and am2+ sockets, I think he says in the video even. But the 970 is an am3 socket chip, so you should be okay.

As to whether you should replace your cpu or graphics card, it really depends what you are doing with your computer. If you run multiple demanding applications, you might want to upgrade your cpu, but if you want to upgrade because games are not running as well as you would like, its likely you want to upgrade your 5670.

AMD have some fantastic 6 core processors that are much cheaper as you know (you can get them for the same price as an i5) and they are only slightly worse (aparently). AMD would be the choice for me, i went for an i5 :( But if your looking at games you might as well get an amazing graphics card :D

I am 99% sure you can't unlock this thing. Ever since core unlocking on AMD's a few years ago, AMD assigns a die specific to the CPU/ GPU. Just like the 5000 series; the difference between a 5830 and a 5870.

AMD needs to seriously work on their chip sets and their software, it just "bottle necks" or holds back a lot of performance. In terms of pure raw CPU power, AMD provides best bang for buck, hands down, but for sheer performance, they still can't really compete with Intels i7 line up.

We shall see how their bulldozer next year does.
