@Largegray Don't expect Australia right now that they should only pay for speed. Giving unlimited internet quota to around 10-20 million people in a huge country isn't that easy. It would congest our copper lines if most people had uncapped internet plans.
In the long term, FTTP is gonna have to get cheaper. It will actually get cheaper than what we have at the moment with much more bandwidth. This is a short-term cause not all Australians wouldn't get it.
I'm to impatient these days so I would probley connect to the New NBN. Just hope theirs no Data Limits.. I pay AU$69.95/month for 12GB at 1.5 Megabits/second Download and 256 Kilobits/second so it won't be much difference in the price Ratio for the moving. Hope Telstras buys the NBN =)
@TravvyG That's UNBELIEVABLY woefull. Have a look at speeds and costs just about anywhere in Europe. It's WAY better and cheaper because of deregulation.

Okay, so if a movie takes an hour to download at 1.5mbps, at 100mbps, it should take less than a minute... Not 8 minutes (retard)...
Also, pretty sure the basic costs will still be around $30, sure there is the option of paying $100 if you want a particular service...

for people curious iinet has its prices up already the prices are the same as they are now I,E the fastest speed and highest download now is 169
the same applies on the NBN cept its 169 for 100mb not sure of downloads but it was higher
