are you kidding me? he's never been snotty to a companion before Eleven? Ten treated Martha like crap her entire run, that's why she went away, girl could only take abuse for so long.

The Doctor is a lot more nuanced and complex nowadays compared to the weepy mopey asshole he was when he was the 10th Doctor.

First, Captain Jack can never be replaced! They do have their similarities but no can replace him! Second the Doctor said "Off you pop and make babies!" and Third, the Doctor only got pissed because he wanted to know what they were keeping from him! He's used to keeping things from people, now they've turned the tables & he gets to feel the frustration they sometimes feel! Some people think that Matt Smith is too young to play the Doctor but I think he's doing just fine!

I LOVE DOCTOR WHO AND I LOVE DAVID TENNANT but i have to disagree with this 'fan' (more like critic) a fan is some onw who loves it no matter what i think you can be disapointed but still i LOVE matt smith hes cool hip and funny so energitic and i try not to choose a fav cause you have to just love the character and trust they will make it amazing and season5 and 6 are the best production and writing ever i mean theve etepped up there game these seasons and just wanna say girl = cool dude = >:(

he didnt just say the writing needs to be better did he? i hope he doesnt think russel t davies writing is better becuase it isnt series five was better than all four previous seasons of doctor who in terms of writing well except for series three which was brilliant but, i love moffats writing becuase its so complex your not just sitting there vegetating in front of the screen your mind is stimulated with engaging clever plots. plus moffat makes the best monsters silence,weeping angels, ect;

I'd have to say that Moffet is a far greater writer than Russell T Davies -- camp annoying and terribly atemptive to be funny. Davies cant write for shit compaired to Moffet.

what the hell is this guy on about? when he said about not liking the doctors harshness towards amy and that it was out of charecter, i was like WHAT? the Doctor is so used to being the one in the know and always being one step ahead of everyone else, and them for him to go from knowing everything to knowing nothing would tick him off a bit. lol and the writings great and Matt's my favorite doctor (mostly because the flirty relationship with River cracks me up XD) x x

Talking of poor writing.... Let's not forget that RTD brought in Helen Raynor & Tom McRae. Two of the worst writers ever to write for the show! The Moff has brought in Simon Nye & Richard Curtis who wrote 2 of the best episodes of the modern era. Plus he got a good story out of Gareth Roberts for a change.

The writing for David is better then for Matt... You must be joking!!! you would be lucky to get 4/5 good stories a series out of RTD... If you were lucky! The bad stories from the RTD era - Rose/AoL-WW3/The Long Game/Boomtown/New Earth/Rise of the Cybermen-Age of Steel/The Idiot's Lantern/Love&Monsters/Fear Her/The Runaway Bride/Smith&Jones/The Shakespeare Code/Daleks in Manhattan.... I could go on and on. Really we need to get over RTD & David..

I am just warming up to Smith as being the Doctor, but I still prefer David's doctor. I think he really made me feel all the emotions the doctor was feeling during each episode. Smith just seems to bring more of just a comedy feel to the doctor.

The writing is definitely not as good. David Tennant is still my preference. Like you guys said, Matt Smith is good, but could be SOO much better if the writing was improved. I like River Song, but I do miss Captain Jack. I think she is the one who kills the Doctor also. Not an impressive Richard Nixon. I lover to see Mark Sheppard in series. Don't forget that he was in Firefly too. I loved the Mrs. Robinson comment. That had me laughing so hard. Glad you guys are doing these reviews of DW now.

I like Doctors 9, 10, and 11 for different reasons. I love Eccleston for his intensity and self-directed anger (all the timelords were dead, and it was entirely fitting for him to be so).

I loved Tennant for his energy and charm. I think he managed to combine alot of the best aspects of the previous Doctors (1 though 8) and make an entirely new character out of it.

And I love Smith for his distinctive brand of humor (different from 9 and 10) and for the hard edge he brought to the character.

I do not think river Song is the Astronaut who shot the doctor because 1. She is already in prison for the man she killed so she knows who she kills and where. 2. She was genuinely shocked to see an Apollo astronaut standing in the water and that the Doctor was shot by him/her. We don't know who was in the space suit it could be any of them or even the little girl. With regards to Matt Smith everyone is keeping secrets from him of course he is a little peeved and he acted brilliantly!

eh, i disagree majorly with the new guy. i think the writing has improved since Matt Smith. Everything is done with much more of a sophistication than the Russel T. Davis years. Yes RTD is great with character and dialogue, but he was one cheesy storyteller.

I love the Stern Doctor, it reminds me of the the 3rd & ninth doctor. He was hard & stubborn. Which is why I love the 11th, because 9th & tenth were always BEGGING the enemy to do what they day. 11th is "You are going to do it, Or I will tear your empire down"

RTD had some great episodes during his run that definitely helped Tennant shine but there were also some pretty bad ones. Of course, series 5 did have some weak episodes but overall I really appreciate the freshness and new feel of this Doctor era. Let's not forget that the Doctor does have his moments where he can get quite angry and arrogant (Timelord Victorious). Matt Smith is doing a great job in mixing the alien and the genius that is part of the Doctor.

@EmmerFan techicnally it is the 50th season lol. but it's revised since it was on hiatus since 1998 I believe & didn't come back till 2005.
