Whales and dolphins are such stupid and dangerous animals. They should NOT be kept for foolish amusement. At least the Japanese and Norwegians got it right and are making use of them as a fine source of food.

Belugas are social creatures and need interaction for their mental health. It's not uncommon for intelligent creatures to resort to ANYTHING that gets a reaction from ANYTHING. It's desperate and sad. Believe it or not, the Seattle Aquarium used to have an octopus that would do things like this, then watch for a reaction. I've always wondered if it was frightened and reacting, or just bored out of its boneless skull. Octopuses are very intelligent. So are squid and cuttlefish. Tragic.

I see a lot of people talking about how the tank is small. In their natural habitat, many beluga whales will live in very small habitats. They don't need much personal space, and this exhibit could house multiple belugas easily.

By putting incredibly intelligent animals in a glass bath tub, teaching them meaningless tricks you are adding to their demise. Whales in the wild can live from 50-90 years of age. captive whales lifes are significantly shortened. What kind of life is living in a tiny pool with people tapping the glass&pushing their ugly faces against the walls. horrible

Nothing is black and white you have to look at the big picture. Dolphins and whales= MONEY, so you stop supporting the exploitation, places like Sea World shut down, the slaughter of dolphins will eventually fizzle out because it is places like SEA WORLD paying

2. Japanese people are ISLANDERS. They have no land space like other countries to raise cattle, therefore at one point whale meat was CHEAPER than beef. Dont hate on people for using the NATURAL resources around them as a food source.

I mean, naturally, it strings a cord every now and then about whaling, seeing as that most whales are endangered, but what you state does make a very good point. So all in all. I have nothing to say/think to put myself against a country I look up to...
