Aldrin has taken a lot of undeserved shit from commentators, but his PhD thesis from 1963, "Line-of-Sight Guidance Techniques for Manned Orbital Rendezvous" on rendezvous contains this dedication - ""In the hopes that this work may in some way contribute to their exploration of space, this work is dedicated to the crew members of this country's present and future manned space programs. If only I could join them in their exciting adventures!" - and he did! A super human being, a real SPACEMAN.
