  • @stonent Normal diesel

  • do you want to here a joke......... caterpiler diesel

  • Oh man, that unbeatable Detroit reliability is godlike.

  • You know, it sounds lame, but I really like guys taking video of Detroits. It's the sweetest sound you can listen to - music to my ears. I just wish there were more vids of Detroits on YouTube - I think I've actually watched ALL OF THEM NOW! :(

    Thanks for the upload! :D

  • @joedrummer2010 yea me too! every video i see is like "oh yea thats that 6-71". we need more detroit videos NAO :P

  • We had one of those engines in our taylor forklift at work. Identicall engine. 30 year old forklift and still running strong to this day used everyday. Guys jump in it often and abuse the hell out it. Thier just simply unstoppable.

  • 4-53 detroit diesel

  • IT'S A 453 DETROIT.

  • nice 757

  • Ya buddy screamin D

  • thats a 471

  • isnt it a 4-71?

  • A 4-53 is what it is, 4 cylinders, 53 cubic inches per cylinder. 212 cubic inches total. In liters, its 3.5L and redlines at 2800 RPM. However because of it being a 2-stroke engine, when you rev it up that high, to the red line, it sounds like a normal engine turning 5500 RPM! That's why it sounds so awesome!

  • @Patriot1776 Thank God someone gets it!!

  • can you get these turbo?

  • dude that sound a sweet diesel engine. id love that in my motor lol

  • this would make the most awesome kart or buggy motor.

  • sweet dd sound! :)

  • sounds like a 4-53t to me!

  • o man thats a sweet sounding 4-71. especially the exhaust sound.. that little thing sound very nice

  • its a 4-53

  • @oliver2050D or is it a 4 71?

  • @schrankm I can tell its a 4-53 by the sound of it. A 71 series motor doesnt sound like that.

  • ahh the best music in the world they were so well built an still are is that a plane tugger

  • Yep, that thing could move a house and not even grunt. So much power. And VERY slow too. I could run faster than it.

  • @lumpysnake i want one to play with id make it go faster it sounds good

  • cool that thing cranked right up

  • 53 Series, the 71's had a box like valve cover and the blower was mounted differently... Great engines :)

  • 4-71

  • 471

  • It's a 4-53.

United Airlines on Maui has one of those pushbacks with the same motor in it.

Those bastards scream, but they get the job done.

  • 4-53.

  • this osunds like a 6v71

  • Thats a good ole dertroit for ya, even when the parts around it fail, that detroit, you cant kill it, try reving a cat or cum mins like that, you wont last long, stick with the detroits

  • @MackAttack59 damn right

  • 4-53/4-71

    one of those

  • Holy overrev batman, but damn it sounds great. :D

  • Hah, it could take it. It runs at about that high of RPM when pushing the aircraft back. It did that for 2 years at this facility. Worked flawlessly. Although other parts failed, the engine always ran strong. Even when it didn't have any oil. :P

  • lol. Good ol' Detroit. I'd love to see one of the new ones do that and not explode...Gotta love the old engines, built to take a beating and shrug it off.

That sounded like 3500 or 4000 RPM, too...No tach?

  • Yeah it has one, but it doesn't work. The only Instrument that worked was the alternator Amp meter. The thing was actually a piece of shit to be honest. :P

  • lol you overrevved the tach :P

  • It never worked when we got it. The machine was pretty damn old when we got it.

  • Wow, I would kill for one of those screamin Jimmy's

  • wow sounds awsome you should get a driving vid of it

  • As much as I would love to, sadly I no longer work at this facility. UPS pulled out of the airport and when they went, so did the equipment.

I might have a poor quality vid of it driving stashed away. ill have to check.

  • it is a 453 71 has bolts in top of tappet cover

  • Looks like a 4-53 to me, too.

  • A 4-53. The valve covers have a different design on the 71 series.

  • Definatly a 4-53. Same one I got in my truck.

  • When I get another chance I will take a closer look at the engine and see if I can see any markings that indicate the type.

  • My guess was 4-53 too, but I don't know enough to be sure and put money on it. :)

  • me too. it's a 4-53.

  • I'd put my money on it being a 4-53 engine.
