  • hahaha the reason noones riding em is because theyll never put that 1st coat of wax on..its hard enough not just eyehumping a shiney new board. but one with a badass mural on it!? so sick

  • Great work and teaching!

  • Quick question, what are Clear Coating called in the stores?

(I live in Japan, so I can't be clear what's it called, also first time thinking of surfboard painting for a friend.)

  • soooooooooooo sick!!!!!

  • would these pens work on a plywood skimboard? ;]

  • Wow...that is some fine job! I would like to know how many Uni Posca markers i will need to pain a 6'2" surfboard? I mean how much surface can i cover with 1 marker?

    All the best :)

  • @eightsmileys We emailed Spoto and will give you his answer as soon as we hear from him. Thanks!

  • @RonJonsSurf

Thanks for your support...can't wait making my board a beauty :)

  • @eightsmileys Here's Spoto's answer: "You can cover a lot with the medium chisel tip marker, probably the entire board. I would suggest starting with 3 colors at the most, preferably one color. That way you can purchase the different sizes. It is better to limit your palette of colors when you are beginning so you can focus on the drawing and new medium. I wish you the best of luck and happy painting as Bob Ross would have said!" - Sean Spoto

  • @RonJonsSurf

It's a quite simple drawing that i am after! Something that reminds Lego! Cubes of colors!

I will order a few markers and start painting :)

    Thanks for your advice!

  • so clear coat when paints dryed???

  • @mysteryguyzation That is correct. Apply clear coat after paint dries.

  • If I shipped my board to this guy to paint it if so how much would it be

  • @freeballer123 We're going to try to contact Spoto, and I'll let you know what he says. Stay tuned!

  • @freeballer123 We just got an answer from Spoto. "It would be a minimum of $100 and up. If it is something heavy around $350. This all does not include return shipping. Price varies a lot depending on the subject " Hope this answers your question.

  • I WANNA WORK 4LOST...

  • when painting on a surf board do i sand down the finish clear thats on it first then use the markers if so what type of sand paper? could i paint on a surfboard that hasn't been glassed yet?

  • @Jodestiny Sorry for the delay. Got in touch with Spoto, and here's his answer: "If the board is a gloss coat (really shiny), it needs to be sanded to give it a tooth for the paint to stick. I would use 320 or 220 sand paper. After it is painted, it needs to be sealed w/ a clear coat (KRYLON). You can paint the foam with air brush before it is glassed, but I'm really not to experienced with an airbrush so I really can not help you there. Good Luck!

  • nice! where i can buy this pen?

  • you know the pens are cool - but as an artist I really think just thinned out acrylic paint is the way to go - way more artistic and not so poster looking - although this guy is rad for sure-:)
