I think I borrowed a few $100 from my mother... but I had been working since I was 13, as a jeweler for David Yurman. I worked at his barn/shop in the suburbs, before he became big. Then I did piecework for him when I was about 14, and left to run a shop for another jeweler when I was 15. But the car was a lot of money for me... in fact the car I drive now, my 1988 Volvo 240, I bought three years ago for $500... $300 less than the Ford all those years ago!
How did you come up with $800.00 in 1971 thats alot money back then for fourteen year old kid?
