  • @PeninsulaBoy217

    Bullshit.

  • @PeninsulaBoy217 Is it a 4 or 6 cylinder engine?

  • @Bufbarnaby -- what's your price?

  • I am debating whether or not I should buy a 2005 2.5 XT Limited... Looks great and runs great but has 123,000 miles. hmm.

  • @Captainskier I have a 2006 with brand new engine , clutch , turbo with only 80K miles and is like new.

Engine still under warranty. Rare 5-speed manual. Make me an offer.

  • @Captainskier

that's nothing for a subaru, even for a turbocharged one. my outback has 219,000 miles on it and it's started up every single day I've owned it. the stock clutch lasted until 205,000 miles!!!

  • badass little wagon haha

  • This is best car. But i like Forester, too.

  • I have a 2006 outback 2.5XT Limited. The engine is blown and turbo gone. I have detailed maintenance of the car and used only the top grade fuel. Yet this piece of crap couldn't get half the miles I put on a neon. I bought this car on it's reputation and reliability. If you do a research, you will find that this engine/model has valve issues. Yet Subaru states that they need more to consider it recall. BEWARE......

  • @semperfi0106 well outbacks Are made in america. tribeca is too. i think legacy also

  • This is my 3rd Outback since 1997. One of the best cars I ever owned. Just one thing is missing - diesel. And..I love to see the faces of BMW, Audio, etc. when I pass them :)

  • that there is a review he understands that a good thing about Subaru is that it doesn't have a lot of unnecessary luxuries that you'll barely use and all the ones it has are outdoor related

  • My 1990 Subaru Legacy has 310k miles on it, and its still going strong. Whats good is that my car actually runs on LPG gas, which its ALOT better better for the environment. Just goes to show that Subaru is really a GOOD car company.

  • this has a turbo right? I wanna get one with a factory stock turbo.

  • i love subaru!!

  • just bought a 2005 XT! im so excited to bring it home in 3 hrs!!!

  • @MeltYourFace324 How do you like it so far?

  • its amazing but it keeps misfiring in cylinder 1 =/ i replaced the coil and the injector and its still doin it..but other than that its awesome i love it!

  • @MeltYourFace324 mine has been hell, I wonder if I got a lemon

  • @priya1985 possibly, you never know. but my xt stopped misfiring! so is completely perfect now! vids of exhaust and bov coming soon!

  • this is the best car that i have. Recommended, it is an outstanding experience!

  • I have a 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT....It is just plain awesome!

  • @peleechickadee same here. 2.5 XT limited 5 speed. love it to death.

  • Love this car! I wish they would bring the new turbo diesel to the USA, but our Govt. has really screwed things up diesel wise, with emission related reliability issues everywhere. This will replace my 02 Volvo XC 70 which is CRAP!!

  • I just hauled 392 lbs of scrap brass and copper to the scrap yard today...in my 96 Outback and it gave me no hassle.

  • Just hauled 453 lbs of steel FROM the scrap yard last week in my 98 Outback and it gave me no hassle :)

  • Doesn't surprise me. They rock.

  • Ross rocks!

  • I know it's a boilerplate car review but Ross sounds like he's reading the Declaration of Independence. Compelling car...not a compelling presentation.

  • Why do Americans have such big engines and such bad mpg ratings???

  • Because were Americans.

  • Because are driving environment is different than most of Europe. We tend to be on the highways at 65-80MPH most of the time. Unless your talking about L.A. or NY City.

Most of Europe is like our big cities... small, crowded, and very busy. Where a small car is a much better idea. I personally like smaller cars too. But they just aren't practical for many Americans. Lots of us drive pickup trucks for work we do. Cant use a Smart car to haul 2000 lbs of lumber.

  • We mainly drive on motorways at 80mph and our trucks are allowed to carry a heavier load, thats why we have triple axle trailers as standard and one tonne of timber isn't allot of weight.

  • We were talking about cars.. not big trucks.. which BTW I drive one... Class A 80,000 lb gross.

I was talking about 1 ton of timber in a personal vehicle.. like a pickup truck. There are more people than you would think that do construction, plumbing, electrical etc for a living as independent contacters

Just trying to explain why are cars are bigger.

I personally HATE SUV's.. cause they suck at everything... the Subies are a good ballance. And Subaru sales are up 30% this year.

  • "Most of Europe is like our big cities... small, crowded, and very busy."

Where did you get that impression from?

We are also taking about "SUV" not pickup trucks!

  • Sorry, I have over stated, when I said Europe I meant the UK. The guy asked why so many American cars get bad mileage. We have a lot of SUV's and pickup trucks is one. Our own stupid government is the biggest. Our EPA makes the pollution standard so high. There are almost NO diesel cars in the USA. maybe .5% The best comparison would be to check the average miles driven a year. in the USA its about 15,000 lots of highway miles = big cars.

  • "in the USA its about 15,000 lots of highway miles"

    Thats low!

I drive over 120,000 per year and can prove it - Volvo's are indestructible!!!

  • Sorry.. but that is not the AVERAGE for Europe. your obviously in a transportation related job.. as am I. The discussion was about the average driver. and why they buy big heavy cars in the USA.

  • "your obviously in a transportation related job"

I'm a Network administrator based in an office block 5 miles down the road, there is nothing transportation about it, all my mileage is made up in my leisure time.

I've heard of 'sedan' cars in America with 5 litre engine, whats the point of that?

  • Most of those are the domestic makers. Chrysler has a 2.7L 3.5L, 5.7L, 6.1L in the 300 sedan & all get about 25MPG on the highway except the 6.1 that is a special model. The 300 is a big BRICK of a car too. The point of it is WE LIKE IT! or at least a lot of people like it. Big engines are smooth, and quiet, but have good low end torque. The 5.7L HEMI from Chrysler uses cyl deactivation on the hyway but makes 360HP. There is a Diesel model in Canada but we don't get it here.

  • i can only imagine the boosted boxer rumble with a catback exhaust.

  • go to my other channel goingdownthetubes

and you'll see my 1981 subaru gl with slots cut in the headers

    CAN YOU SAY LOUD!!!

i love the blubbity of a suby!

  • aT 2:20 - 2:25 he mentions that the only thing the OBXT gives up to standard SUV's is ground clearance....not so Roadfly, not so...do your homework - as the ground clearance on the my '06 OBXT is the highest of any OEM vehicle on the market...nothing modified. That's one big reason to buy it (*note that the XT version has 17" tires*).

I love my '06 AutoTranny...full boil is just a second away from the right pedal - it goes like snot and goes and goes and goes in the bad stuff snow, rain etc.

  • I got pulled over coming back from Mammoth doing 105mph.

    :(

  • haha "its a sleeper. no one will pull you over in it." very true considering it can do over 140mph :D

  • amazingly, the outback was one of the top 10 most likely cars to be ticketed. Why, I have no clue.

  • YA I LOVE SUBARU mi mom and dad have a 2.5i

    outback

  • amazing cars. just need a hybrid now.

  • I agree.

  • and bring back the brat!

  • @evanoahsea check out subarus turbo boxer diesel. I wish they brought them to the states. they get around 50 mpg! which is amazing for having adequate hp.

  • @evanoahsea the worst thing could happen to a great car like Subaru Outback is that the environMENTALists come in and put a battery in the car and remove the turbo, cut down number of cylinders, lower its horsepower by half, make the government to subsidize the automaker and call the whole thing a "green project" (as green as my sh!t). 10 to 15 years later, when the dead battery needs to be burried somewhere in my soil, the environMENTALists are long gone from hybrid, guess what? cars are banned

  • @jamesmoocn wow you're pretty stupid aren't you? Batteries can be recycled or reused as energy storage in homes. You're a clown.

  • @normalais Regardless of whether they can be recycled, it's pretty well known as far as POLLUTION goes, batteries are really shitty. You're better off flooding atmo with CO2. Hybrids save gas, not the environment.

  • @eskimo810 nope, they're much better than burning fossill fuels

  • @normalais not really. they just pollute in a different way. The environmental impact and soil degradation caused by the mining of nickel and other heavy metals used in batteries is entirely comparable to the greenhouse gases and particulate matter generated by combustion.

  • @eskimo810 They pollute considerably less. That's been proven in a number of studies already.

  • @normalais yeah? quote one. It's hard to compare the too, but scrubbing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere isn't that hard. Repairing destroyed ecosystems is vastly difficult. Saying they pollute "less" is sort of naive; there is no "unit" of pollution, only relativity. Polluting the air is relatively less damaging than polluting/destroying land, ground water, and life.

  • @jamesmoocn Don't worry, price of oil will go to $300 a barrel within a decade. You will put a battery in one yourself.

  • @evanoahsea Are you serious?

  • The Outback is an amazing car. My father owns the 3.0R Automatic , but we had a turbo-charged Forester 2.5XT before, and gosh it flew! I still think that this 2.5 engine would be better than the 6 cylinders we have. It has got 245 hp but often it doesn't feel that it really has that many HP...

  • HAHA :D...at 1:20 i dont like cussing but that was soo funny lol

  • garbage videos!!!check my channel!!!

  • hey i gotta choose between the forester and the outback does anyone have any ideas about which one i should get otherwise ill probley just go with which ever one looks best haha

  • The Forester looks like it obviously has more room but damn if that isn't about as ugly as cars get huh? That's why mine will be an Outback. I still get the extra room four people need with a lot better looks than the box-on-wheels approach offered up by the Forester.

  • i just got this car... same color too but mine is an automatic. i love it to death... it can own any car on the road in a race! haha yay turbo... but the interior is also nice. heated seats, remote start, cd changer... man, this car has it all. i love it.

  • I have one just like the one in the vid..was looking for one car to act like 3...something quick and like a sports car to drive...but big and comfortable enough to carry people and cargo, pull a small trailer and act like an suv here in snow country. I've owned alot of cars and this is the best all around cars I've owned. My mechanic buddies say they are bullet proof. Sweet thing about it is that its a sleeper...it can beat 95% of the cars out there

  • It have the little kick that was missing in the normal Outback nice car

  • Ah, they were kind of wrong with the ground clearance thing. The Outback XT has greater ground clearance than the Ford Excursion!

  • Very nice looking and versatile car. I'll have to go with the base model tho...

  • I have a 2008 outback 2.5 xt and it is awesome! I test drove the forester and it can't compare to the outback. Go for manual transmission if you have a choice. It's so much fun to drive!!!!!

  • i have one too. love it!

  • Ya, manuals are so much fun to drive in these things.

  • i was looking to buy either Audi A4 or Outback XT but you had convince me with this video...thanks Roadfly!

  • Dude I'm in the middle east, you think Elisa can make it all the way here? BTW Emmer, people like you... oh fuck it.

  • there is such a thing as the 'forester' sti, and check out the legacy spec.

  • "From the outside, it doesn't look like ANYTHING?" I don't think so! That is one NICE car! The Outback and the Legacy are awesome! Subaru's have excellent quality. I was very impressed with the "fit and finish".

  • the sti version of the outback is even better

  • There's such a thing?

  • no!

  • those 07 Subie Forester XT that look like impreza as a forester are hella nice looking

  • Great review!!!

You should've mentioned that the 2007 lineup are all rated with a 5 star crash test rating by the NHTSA (or whatever the acronym is).

The 2008 lineup probably will accomplish the same, I hope.....

  • do they still offer the h6 on that thing?

  • yep.

  • nice review... great content... just wish there was more pizzazz in the presentation... guess i'm too used to top gear.
