thats so relaxing try working at panera bread where all people do is complain and when its busy you start sweating in the air conditioning which is pretty damn hard. all my co-workers hate the job including me. ive been there for 2 and half months and want to quit. but then again im always cleaning up dining room which is the worst. i almost went insane today from how much i hated it. and my boss yelled at me for moving slow on a slow day. how much sense does that make?

@JJNAM151 atleast you have air conditioning! try working at an amusement park in texas, it hasnt rained here in months (or gotten below 100f) and all i do all day is pick up puke, tear my hands checking seats, and listen to people trying to bitch at me in spanish.

the funny thing is - this is one of the few jobs I actually want to do - I recently got a guard card for security work - I doubt I'd want to work security forever, but, in general all I really care about as far as a job is being able to work graveyard shift, or close to it. I've been a night person ever since I was a little kid, and for me, working during the day is a nightmare - have done it twice so far - never again - all it accomplishes is making me tired, grouchy, and incredibly bitter.

Well since your into working nights, like I am, this site you would have probably liked, since it would have been a comfortable environment for you without no one to bother you at all. The only thing you would have to worry about would have been, the morning relief and hope they show up on time to relieve you where you don't get stuck a double shift.

I've hated every job I've ever worked at. I can't stand working for other people. My shitty boss likes to crack the whip on us slaves. He's a bully. I hate making meaningless small talk with my fellow co-workers that I don't even care about. I have to fake a smile when I see customers. I don't want to smile. I want to be self-honest with myself.

Actually it was fun for the first few weeks. But after 1 - 2 months of the same sh*t everyday, you get bored especially when you have no around to at least chat with to keep you company.

I never did mention this but we used to have an extension cord but it was taken away because people from the building complained it was in the way...Its a no win situation for us all the time.

I'm not here to ridicule you but I know you can do better. You seem very articulate. Use your time during the day to look for a real job that pays real money. That's the advantage of a grave yard shift job. You look young enough to go back to school or continue schooling. You will never escape this level of degradation if you don't go to school and learn a skill. You don't want to be like this when ur 30, 40 or 50. It's not all about PSP and food for 8 hours.

Thanks for posting. Just a thought, in the EU, if our job is 'monotonous' it is up to the company to do something about it for our 'health'. Maybe using the law will also get them to give you variety. Luckily you are allowed to have a radio some nightworkers aren't. Good luck. Keep us posted

Then you lucky over there in EU because if you job is monotonous here, your job doesn't really care. They would do something like transfer you without warning or even fire you if you complain to them too much. The problem is that they cant change much to the site you are posted at because that is what the companies provided them for you and that's pretty much what they would allow. So there isn't much your company can give to you unless the contractor approves something for your health or etc.

Something people need to understand about these types of jobs; if you are doing something else to advance your life (like going to school) at the same time, then these jobs are great because you can basically rest and get paid. If this type of boring job is the only thing you got going on, you will one day just start feeling like crap and realise that your life is streaming on by. These type of jobs can steal years from your life before you even know what happened.

I worked as a dispatcher for a security company and did everything you did except I had no radio no fridge or microwave either. The bitch that was supposed to relieve me of my post always showed up late to work. I'm talking about an hour and a half late. I only worked there for a week and I was like "fuck this shit I'm out".

I'm also a security guard. I work at a private community and just sit in the guard house and raise the gate. It gets very boring but at the same time, theres cable tv and internet. But it gets old fast.
