@sgtcarlos91 6 bolt is the short block 1g used for a few years mostly the 91-92's and the later model 92's used 7-bolts which is a long-block. the 7 bolt was dsm's shot at the evo lower-end. they all kicked ass people who say the 7-bolt is shit dont know anything because the 7-bolt is just as prone to crank walk as their civic's. but in 99 dsm came out with a better built 7-bolt that was identical to the evo lower-end and could hold around 450-550whp depending on the care taken of the motor.

nope, both made 210hp. 99 had stronger trust bearing in the crank.

That still makes a difference. I look at it like, newer car, more bugfixes. I have a 98RS cause I didnt want to have to worry about crankwalking, and I like Dodge moters better. The 98 had the improved head gasket seal, with the other 420a leaked oil around the block. Newer can be better, except for emessions shit.

I meen i guess u can still do things to a 420a to make em quick but its a bigger risk then workin on a 4g63. My brother has a 97 talon esi with the 420a but he doesnt want to mess with it until he replaces the head gasket, pistons and head studs, that is if he really wants to boost it.

Go with a Hahn, nothing else touches it for the price, and aviability. Make sure he watches that 4th cyl for oil leaking. Thats a pretty set in stone thing on a 420a. If he really wants a challenge, get a wrecked srt4 and stop that moter in it.

no one in there right mind is gonna set there twostep at 4500 rpm thats just silly your gonna dump your clutch and sit there and spin, you set it high enough that you get a little spin but not so that its gonna bog when you catch probably set at like 3250 or 3500 rpm no more

hes not reving it up to redlime, he has a 2-step launch control system that holds the rpms around something like 4500 to 5000 rpm, then you just let off the clutch and the car takes off

both those cars are awd, so thats why they rev'd it up and launched it, not good on regular fwd cars, you just sit there and spin, or something will break.
