  • Way better than U2, who's only real good album was Boy. This band produced, designed, and stayed true to real music form since the beginning of their formulated existence where U2 became a large mouth for BS from Bono.

  • other songs you may like "Zoo Station" by U2. Almost the same song

  • I love these guys!!!

  • Lovely 80s.....4 ever .

  • my god this guy is so haggard looking. no one can escape the disease that is time.

  • @pearlyshelz He looks cool and sounds good too. Great live version me thinks :)

  • Fricken Ace, Pure Talent. Suck it up Generation Scum.

  • Who are the 42 wankers who dislike this? Mac and Will S are brilliant, and this song still resonates...

  • This band was entirely underappreciated.

In the days of my later formable years. I would start the night off with a couple of bumps and Ocean Rain on vinyl.

  • Oh Yeah ! That felt so good !

  • Damn sKiPpY there SugarLips !

    ?;^D

  • I was at walmart and randomly started singing this song

  • I catch myself singing the chorus all of the time! SHUUGARR KISSSESS!!!

  • can you feel it mm sugar

  • burn top of the brb- f/u

  • Man, he looks like shite

  • @ritter89 ....I think I seen him performing in front of liquor store.

  • Wata jam indeed. love it! thank you ;)

  • Oi, lads - don't argue - "ooooo U2 was formed first" -- that doesn't mean a blessed thing - Neither U2 nor Echo and the Bunnymen released anything on vinyl until 1980 - and both were breakthrough artists - the fact that their music sounds similar is more to do with the musical influences they shared, and the powers that promoted musicians in that day who were looking for a certain sound. Savvy? Enjoy them both.

  • @kdxish Thank you so much for that. I was reading their arguments and thinking the same thing. : )

  • @kdxish your a 100% right but i think they are so different i seen them both live and tell you what both rock echo and the bunnymen are super live we can enjoy all music ...but fairplay to you so well said love your taste in music ...over the wall is a wow tune 2 unreal live look at that 1697 likes make that 1698 lol cause am about to click another take care :)

  • he admitted he was drunk

  • Ian doesn't look too thrilled, sugar kisses or not.

  • wow, ian mc culloch looks totally washed up, what a shame. i love the bunnymen.

  • I love both U2 and Echo and The Bunnymen...But I do think Brian Eno had a great effect on U2's style in the '90's...so yes , they can be compared to E& TB....but , then early 1980's E@TB can be compared to U2...but , U2 is more political...if you really read their lyrics. Just my opinion.

  • @fetishisticrose get fucked

  • @bigbollocks41 LOL , I do ...regularly ....looks like you don't...awww

  • great song!

  • Hahaha nothing like smoking while singing on stage. By the way, I saw the video was uploaded in 2007. Is that when this took place or was it earlier?

  • IMMENSI ...... solo questo ...

  • I just had my first kiss like earlier today... The moment I got home I played this song, I've never felt better.

  • Who really cares what either of you think?

  • U2 is for guppies and echo for the more intelligent listeners.

  • @ronaldvanderkleij Extremely Pretentious which would indicate you haven't much intelligence.

  • @Ducksexbody where iI write thats I am not intelligent?

  • @ronaldvanderkleij what if you like both?

  • The Horrors Still Life brought me here xD

  • KEYBOAR RAY MANZERACK! WOA!

  • I bet if the guy gave up the smokes whatever else, went to a ear/nose/throat specialist, he could wail with consistancy again. One of the best singers ever.

  • i saw them four days ago in Venice ahahahah amazing

  • One of the best bands ever.

  • Xavia do it better

  • echo had some great albums but went down the shiter, ian is bitter at u2 because of there glory and so are a lot of other little monkeys

  • Best. Song. Ever.

  • I Just listend to "coldplay" covering this song...get tae fuck...

  • I don't understand why people are comparing U2 to Echo and the Bunnymen. U2 aren't cool, Echo and the Bunnymen are, it's simple as that.

  • U2 and echo love each other.

  • @roadlizard666 Not anymore

  • Long live the bunnymen!!!!!

  • Whatever.... Hello Ian :) Gigglez!

  • Enough already just enjoy the musical genius, because that is exactly what it is. Just to add fuel to the fire all music is not created equally, of that I am certain. Rather than than tell me I am wrong, ask your closest friend who is a musician, they will tell you as much.

  • Awesome lover there stuff remind me of the cure - for another youthful band try Spiders - Where does this leave us now

  • what's that he says before "she'll be my mirror"?

  • One of the best Southpark episodes is when Bono lies about taking the biggest crap in the world. The social commentary was brilliant, that is, Bono is full of shit!!!

  • @caleab27

Don't forget the point of the episode was Bono *is* the biggest crap.... I like U2, I'm just saying :P

  • @aslongasitlasts touche' mon cheri!

  • why not all agree to disagree, all music is great it just takes a different person to enjoy it

  • Type in THE CHURCH, Aussie band, heaps better than these pretenders

  • @chinkwo Pretenders? They were around the time when The Church were about. And both admire each others music. Besides they arent even in the same catagory of style, both at their own type of music which are both fucking amazing.

  • The Church are heaps better

  • lÒl_áÑýÒnè_wÂnNà_chãt_wÍth_mé_I_fEËl_sÖ_lØñÊlY_tòÐÅÿ■

  • Listen to something with some fucking soul maaaaan. Especially Echo.

U2 are a pile of shite. Just my opinion!

  • What a fucking bullshit. They didn't copy one another. Always that stupid pretentious nonsens from so called fans. Face it, U2 also made brilliant albums in the early days. If you deny that, you don't have any sense in that brain of yours.

Don't get me wrong, I much prefer Echo.

  • @whoah1988 U2 aren't consistent. Every album they try to reinvent themselves, and it's really sickening.

  • masters!!

  • She floats like a swan

    Grace on the water

    Lips like sugar...

  • Superbowl 2012 Halftime show?

  • Saw these dudes YEARS ago in Atlanta. Ian was trashed. The most intoxicated person I had ever seen on stage by the end of the night. Great concert too.

  • I've always loved this song. Thanks for sharing it.

  • what is with all the u2 haters? I love u2.

And plus, this is an Echo video if you haven't noticed.

  • Why the random U2 hate? Considering that U2 formed before Echo and the Bunnymen U2 can hardly be accused of stealing their style and U2's fame is the result of much greater consistancy since they have never split up. As the saying goes the higher monkey climbs the more he exposses his ass and I know its popular with the alternative music scene to hate what's popular but its priggish, U2 are a band to expire to, good music and mainstream.

  • @nottoberemembered U2 sucks. sorry but ... yuck :P

  • @friendofthecosmos not really suck but the excitment is gone

  • @nottoberemembered nice use of the word 'priggish' but what does 'to expire to' mean?

  • @efficientcom

I might of gone overboard with that statement but what I ment is that U2 write great music while maintaining mainstream status.showing that such a thing is possible. Of course I used expire when I ment inspire or something, I appologise for that. I spend so much time editing text its nice not to give a F*** on youtube but still a it was a stupid mistake.

  • @nottoberemembered sssshhhh shut up shut up

    no talking

    JUST LISTEN

    PLEASE

    stop arguing nobody cares

    sshhhhhhhh

    calm the f__k down

    :)

  • @nottoberemembered Damn right U2 is not a band "to expire to". I'd much rather be listening to good music as I die.... Smh, lol..

  • @nottoberemembered Aspire, perhaps?

  • 28 guys are U2 Fans...

  • Drowned in his sensual voice...

  • If you like this, try the cover by XAVIA, Best Newcomers @ Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2011. Find them on facebook

  • Why doesn't Ian play guitar on stage? Seems, for the most part, that he has junked that role.

  • Love this song. McCulloch is super Cool,...Always admired his Hair!!!!!

  • awesome track from a genius band, ambrosia from the gods of their genre!!!!

  • People can have their own opinions, and I agree with many people on my side that they are a better band than U2. I do indeed like U2 very much, but I just think Echo & the Bunnymen are better. There are many reasons why they never became as big as U2 (which is quite sad really) but that doesn't mean U2 is better or anything. EATB4EVA <3

  • Get rid of the f--ing cigs baby!!!! Cradle your precious lungs. Love your music.

  • I just love this song. It really makes me think of being soooo much younger and all the great fun we had! Wish they still made music!

  • I just love this song. It really makes me think of being soooo much younger and all the great fun we had!

  • what genre are they ? new wave

  • I love this song!!!

  • Great song. Great version. But people, when you put some great song like that on you tube ,please, make sure the audio is LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • " lips like sugar, sugar kisses".... fabulous lyrics!....yummy!.... I want to kiss someone..right now!

  • Echo is better than U2, just in the shows I went to vertigo tour & really sucks, but I saw echo at corona capital in mexico and it was awsome just 1 hour and a half to prove why is the best band in the world...

  • @daho17 ....Yes...totally agree...Bunnymen is the best.

  • Ah, Ian. Did you have to smoke so much? At least we got you on vinyl, in your prime. SOmehow, of all the bands that I saw in Los Angeles during the '80's, I managed to see The Bunnymen more than any other European touring band.

  • Doesn't get much better.

  • i feel proud to come from the same city as these blokes

  • @roachie31 Me too but more proud of The Beatles

  • sometimes i tell to my mom i born on 90s... but i want to go to 80s o.O

  • i want to back do 80s :D

  • Great song. Kinda sounds like pop U2 now that I think about it. Nothing wrong with that, though. I like it a lot.

  • GR8 Lovely!

  • "lips like chicken....chicken and fishsticks!"

  • @incrediblekicks wtf are you. a gay fish?

  • Had the privlage of seeing The Bunnymen at the Glasgow Appollo (81 a think!) knew then a was watching one of the best bands that was ever to come out of the post punk movement.

  • Good band, The Jam were better :-)~

  • I never get tired of Echo and the Bunnymen, they need to do another Tour again in 2011 they need a get together

  • I disagree with the laughter requiring little thought. Laughter can be very manipulative as a tool of cruel intentions.

  • Dear God, Thank you for blessing us with your Echo and the Bunnymen and for letting them still being alive in 2010. these are the dark days of musical mediocrity and without Echo and the bunnymen being around we would not have anyone to give us emotional melodies, amen

  • olé por mexi, ke suerte, salud

  • omg, he is good

  • esta voz hace estremecer a las tias y a nosotros no encanta, ke lastima ke ya no continuen su carrera artistica

  • @torosyya como chingados no, vinieron a mexico hace como 3 semanas

  • I can't stand fuckstick TV directors who don't know music and don't know the song they're shooting!

Asswipes: when the guitarist plays the lead, FUCKING SHOW IT. Christ, how tough is it, really?

  • Is this the BEST live version of a song????

I think so. Ian Mc is fucking brilliant!!!!!

  • like bono u2

  • reminds me of there there by radiohead (I know this probably came frst but I heard the other one first) both good songs though.

  • Tremendous live version of an amazing song!!

  • takes me back

  • Can anyone tell me when this was recorded?

    Any whoo !!!!!

In my humble opinion, this is without doubt, the BEST live version of a song ever recorded. Sir Ian is getting better with age !!

  • Waaaaa ya me anda por verlos y cantar ésta rola hasta que me ardan las cuerdas vocales XD

  • dulz favorite's sound of music way back 80's

  • NICE, BUT AGAIN U2 has a distinctly differenct sound and Bono's voice is very different. Can't compare these two bands, their unique sounds are what makes them so great.

  • NICE, BUT AGAIN U2 has a distinctly differenct sound and Bono's voice is very different.

  • This is art at its best expression

  • you CANT compare U2 to Echo??? are u mad!!? here Ian....a heinken and a smoke...front row irvine meadows...ocean rain tour '85....I WAS THERE!

  • U2 copied Echo? Are you kidding me? U2 copied Stiff Little Fingers dumbass dolt wanker! God! Spare us your hyperbole moron!

  • ...that was a terrible stage performance, I'm shocked at how boring that was.

  • @nonsoundflux youre an idiot who doesnt understand true art.

  • @amsinin aren't you a pretentious little thing, hey heads up, there's a darn good chance the music you like... I produced. Have a good day :)

  • 'he who can not howl will not find his pack"charles simic

  • GREATEST band. These guys are BIGGER and BETTER than U2.

We all now that U2 have copied the Bunnymen style of music.

    Go IAN.....you're the BEST

  • @nikbunnymen U2 formed first...are you sure its not the other way around...like them both though U2 is better in my mind...

  • @nikbunnymen I prefer Echo And The Bunnymen but you are wrong U2 are a bigger and much more successfull band, they evolved Echo And The Bunnymen didn't.

  • @nikbunnymen Totally!

  • @nikbunnymen just because bono sings like him...means U2 copied from them? you fvckin retarded troll!

  • @nikbunnymen - hm... that sounds like an overstatement! though, i will say, they're a grand band. either one.

  • who told you that Echo & the Bunnymen are better than U2?? i love bunneymen but u2 are popular than them..and U2 are not copied the bunneymen music style...they have their own originality...!!!!

  • fuck off!!

  • @nikbunnymen not only U2 but I think other bands such as The Vaccines have copied elements of Echo's music.

  • @nikbunnymen better, maybe but bigger? you're dreaming. regardless of personal preference U2 are huge (I personally hate them but they are epically large)

  • @nikbunnymen Hmmm lets see here.First of all U2 is epic, grandiose, huge, unique and when comparing bands (wich i don't really like to do but..) U2 has more album/cd/itune sales, more fan's, world wide recognition..etc.. so how are they bigger and better?(subjective of course) on top of that how did they copy U2?? they were formed in 1976( echo and the b-men 1978.)and by the time echo and b-men put all the pieces of their band together u2 had already had their signature sound starting w/ BOY.

  • @xem727 Hey I hate to be a dick but EATB's debut Crocodiles came out in July 1980, Boy came out in October '80. I think you're insinuating that these guys copied U2?

  • @hpsfl Nahh! some guy was mouthing off about how u2 stoled echo and the bunnymens sound and i was trying to make the point that u2 already had formed 2 yrs before them so how would that be possible. u2 were already playing gig's and developing before echo.,, no worries bro.

  • @nikbunnymen ...Don't get me wrong I love echo and the bunnymen, great band even... but when you compare greatest bands of all time sorry they are not even in the conversation...one of the greatest english new wave band of all time??? sure i'll give you that. Peace!

  • better than U2

  • better than U2

  • awesome, one of my favorite bands, they will come to Mexico, will be the first time I saw E&BM !! better than U2 !!

  • coverversion of coldplay are better ;)

  • this dude can still belt this song out.....good for him! What's with the hair though; trying to look like Robert Smith ;) ?

  • this dude can still belt this song out.....good for him!

  • lyrically perfect song~R!

  • THIS WAS A REALLY GREAT VISIONARY BAND!

  • saw them in Houston circa 1983

  • Like fine wine...

  • wHAT KIND OF GITUAR IS PLAYING THE LEAD, BITCHIN SOUND.MY FAV SONG

  • @mkveasey771

It's a Tear Drop made by VOX. I don't think that Tear Drop is the real name or model for the guitar but here's a link to look at it.

    Bookmarks Toolbar

  • @lughnut

I stand corrected. It's called a Phantom Teardrop by VOX..cool guitar

  • I'm reliving my teen years of the early 80s and late 70s... Ian McCulan (sp) was a real hothead I heard. Mac the Mouth" is his nickname? LOL. Umm, of course he's matured a bit from what I have seen. And that's kind of cool. But he was very vocal about his dislike for Bono from U2. He hated the Jam as well (Paul Weller? or is it Peter). and umm... I hope he doesn't hate another local band from his scene... Cham UK and Cure. The old Cure, not the corporate image Cure in the later 80s.

  • When ya got it, ya STILL got it!

  • I'd like to be this cool.

  • WOW ! They look, and sound incredible.

  • simply the best!!
