  • Where's the rest of the movie???

  • One of the sexiest songs ever written!

  • Such beautiful and breathtaking scenery. This was filmed in California's Big Sur region.

  • This is my favorite song of my life..

  • How stunning Elizabeth is when she looks up to wave to her boy.

  • Too bad all of a sudden you had to make this a:

It was featured on my blog automatically playing. Now I'll just have to settle for a different version. So what did it gain you?

  • Amazing!!! very, very beautiful!!!

  • Jack Sheldon on trumpet !

  • se 13/01/93 fosse um filme esta seria a abertura....

  • Too bad that you cut off the beautiful beginning part of this beautiful sequence. Could you redo it with the complete song and ocean views? I have a copy on dvd (of the movie) somewhere but have never uploaded anything to YouTube so I don't even know if I could do it (correctly) or how soon. Nevertheless, this is wonderful, anyway. Thanks for putting this on, at least.

  • Bye Liz.......(1932.02.27-2011.03.23)

love the melodies xxxxbabsie hugs judi

  • I am loving this film for 30 years now . And still do love this masterwork !

  • 1965....I remember. Same situation. But didn't get to see Big Sur until a few years later. Along with Uncle George's Skywalker Ranch. Such a great jazz composition too. Timeless.

  • I wish I could jump into that movie and be there, in that time period. Gorgeous scenery and music. The movie is probably not good, but who cares, everything is beautiful. I think our world is going backwards and instead of getting prettier and wiser is getting uglier and dumber. It is just my opinion and with all respect, not offense intended.

    You're right!

  • To Jack Sheldon: "Trying to get good" may have been the title of your bio, Mr S., but you are way beyond just good!

  • Magical tune ....

  • i would give anything to live in that house in big sur

  • Great movie.

  • love ,love this movie and the sound track, brings back what life was like in the 60s. Better than the modern day violence we are subjected to to-day.

  • what a beautiful peaceful intro to a movie,,,love the movie and the beautiful sound track with Jack Sheldon. Should be more movies made like this one instead of all the violence that is made to-day,

  • Again, I'm watching this after a year....life is a beach.....**sigh

  • What a beautiful opening credit!! I love this so much. Vincent Minnelli`s wonderful master-piece. Richard Burton...Liz Taylor is stunning beautiful. Thank you for posting.

  • The trumpet player is Jack Sheldon, a fantastic musician and performer who still plays restaurants and clubs in L.A. to this day.

  • If God ever says to me, "Son, it's time to go, but you can listen to one more song..." This would be it...Thanks to Johnny Mandel for writing my favorite song of all time, and to Jack Sheldon for playing it so beautifully.

  • great song and movie. elizabeth taylor was totally beautiful............

  • Beautiful trumpet solo by Jack Sheldon, one of the great entertainers and comedians. He played with Merv Griffin for a while. Just great scenery and views of the pacific. Life is often like the little sandpiper, just running around looking for a meal.

  • I love this song and another beautiful version is by Zamfir on the PanPipes!!!!! I never got to see this movie because of my work schedule but I had the sound track until my album got destroyed in a fire !!!!!!!

  • Haven't seen the flick since I was a kid.

  • life is a beach.....

  • I saw Monterey when I was in my early teens- an old polaroid is still stuck in my mirror-that was a long time ago-

    cheers to all

  • Nice composition.

  • esta poderia ser a abertura daquela tarde de 13/01/93...

  • why the koreans translate "the sandpiper" as "confession?"

  • beautiful movie rich in photography.

    I loved !

  • life is a beach...

  • One of my favorite movies and title songs

  • Me too : ]

  • I recently visited Big Sur, Los Lobos and dined in Nepenthe (although in the film, they made a copy of the interior). It was trip back in 1965. Sandpiper is one of my favourite films and the Shadow of Your Smile is simply immortal like Elizabeth Taylor.

  • This is also one of my favourite films with it's haunting opening credits and theme music. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were the most beautiful people and still are in my mind.

  • I am honoured to have been born and raised in Monterey county, big sur is just a few minutes away

  • You must have done something really cool in another life :o)

  • Does it still look as beautiful as it did when this was filmed?

  • @eddie1967 Yes!! Helps a lot if you catch clear weather.

  • Elizabeth Taylor's Parents were Art Dealers. This role was just perfect for her Playing an Artist. She was just beautiful on it!

  • Great! I like this film very much! Thanks for posting it! I've just put this video in my favourites.

  • watching it again...

  • unforgetable scene...and a wonderful music..always the best...

  • what a glamorous theme and magnificent scenery...thanks for posting

  • I lived that life, the one Liz played. Further up the coast abit, Halfmoon Bay, 1968.

I'm still beach combing, but in Hawaii, Big Island. Mahalo for posting! Life's a Beach!

  • Wow! what a wonderful life!

  • @konamarie do you also have your richard burton?????

  • @odysseetheater No, I lost him along time ago, but I do have a husband who is 15 years younger then me. We are getting ready to spend some time in Tahoe my next fav place to be if I'm not on Island. Summer and Fall are wonderful there. Lif'e"s a Beach!

  • @konamarie i mhappy for you! perhapts you would not have been happy with "richard" .. like liz not really was. every person has tolive their own live, either on a beach or in the street, it does not matter WHERE, it only matters IF YOU DO!be proud of yourself that you do it, many people try and do not find their way... all the best from (the cold) vienna....... love eva

  • Thanks!!! looked for along long time!

    Regards muzzifusi

  • WONDERFUL!!!
