  • Jamie Oliver, the master of real food!

  • No need to declare "Death to America" any more.

Just leave it to the parents.

  • This makes me sick. I have made it a point to feed my family fresh, natural foods. Our children should NOT be having difficulty identifying a tomato. This sad display is EXACTLY why America is 55% OBESE. Exactly why our kids are going into the doctor and being diagnosed with hypertension and joint problems (amongst other ailments) at such young ages.

I'm sure this isn't the only school where this is the normal knowledge set. We are failing our children. WAKE UP AMERICA!

  • wow. retarded partens feeding there kids the same shit garbage food, passing on 0 knowledge....

  • HUR DURRR AMERICA BEST COUNTRY YEEH DURRR

  • You can't say that these kids are stupid. It's a test of knowledge and not intelligence. These kids only know what they have seen and what they have been taught. If they aren't subjected to it, how are they supposed to know? Should they have educated themselves?

  • @eriwal723 yes they should.

  • To be honest I'd blame the damn school as much as the parents. Why the hell is the school not feeding them these foods?!

  • EGG SALAD!!!!

  • this is fucken unbelievable!! Wtf are we doing to kiiids? Bejesus Kriiiist?!!!

  • Comment removed

  • These kids arent stupid there parents are because they don't give them the right foods DAMN I hate bad parents

  • there not stupid its the fact they have never been educated on the subject. even a "smart" kid would become a caveman if all they experienced was living in a cave

  • LOL these kids are so stupid its ridiculous, children like this need to be in the special needs program.

  • god that kid is stupid even i know that is tomato as i was 1 year old

  • he must have picked the worst school in america, because I've never heard of kids not knowing fruits and veggies. I knew them all when I was 5

  • jamie, you stupid, stupid, man. these kids just trolled the FUCK out of you

  • Americans should be ashamed of this display of ignorance.

  • @Antherios92 I'm not ashamed because I don't know any of these people. These kids and their parents don't represent America.

  • Wow...I remember back in 1998 being in first grade and we weren't even allowed to leave the cafeteria until we ate all our veggies. When we would leave we had to show Mr.Mathis our tray and if it had healthy stuff still on it we were sent back until it was gone...

  • That food looks good

  • Jamie oliver is a disgusting prick

  • as put to my plate when kid but naturally when my awarness of what example sausages are made from grew I became naturally vegetarian

  • Oh my god....is this real? tomato=potato?? We have everyday salad and tomato with bread...no meal without salad and children must eat their salad before anything else....i thought everywhere children start to learn to speak naming objects flowers, vegetables and animals.....maybe today its naming mobiles, cars and hamburgers

  • Kids are awful??? That's a bizarre comment- their parents are responsible for teaching and feeding them are they not??? Apparently none of those kids had ever watched

a parent cut up a tomato into a salad before....or teach them about veggies while shopping.

    That's truly pathetic.

  • I like pie.

  • how can be kids in the US so fucked up... this is horrible.

  • My child at 4-5 knew what most of those were then again I cook with lots of fresh ingredients frequently. It's just sad that America once again has stooped to a new low... our kids don't know what fresh and healthy is.

  • @microraptor54 You can exercise your right to die from heart failure too!

  • This is absolutely sad. My two-and a half years old already knows all vegetables and even my four year old who doesn't eat veggies beside tomatoes

  • this is so sad.

  • Come on Jamie, it's no an Egg Plant

  • So I probably wouldn't have recognized the beet or the eggplant at 6, but holy fuck how do kids not know what tomatoes look like? Thank fuck my mom actually made me real food.

  • America, fuck yeah!

    AA status, fuck yeah!

    Fat people, fuck yeah!

    Dumb as shit, fuck yeah!

Out of this world debt, fuck yeah!

    Religionist, fuck yeah!

1 in 6 poor, fuck yeah!

    and so on..

  • 1/2 kids in this video will die of obesity by the age of 12

  • the teacher is a fat tub of lard lol

  • Of course ukfags have to bring in the "stupid americans" comment. Yeah people in the UK are all geniuses and better than all other countries (rolls eyes)

  • @Valuum To be fair British people are confused by any food not sold at Kebab stops and Fisn 'n Chips outlets

  • @stuffums "Kebab stops and Fisn 'n Chips outlets" is that what you call them? Sorry, just slightly amused by the wording. To us, they're both shops; fish and chip shop and kebab shop.

  • @Valuum They're at least better than these people, and you. Nobody said all other countries, just the US. Are you denying that these kids, and their families by extension, are stupid? This shit doesn't happen in other countries.

Getting heaps defensive about everything just proves the other guys point.

  • @Valuum In america hey had to make a law forbidding you to walk across the road, because the idea of "stop look listen live" was too complicated for americans to comprehend.

  • @Valuum They clearly didn't watch Jamie do it here. Our kids are bloody stupid about veg. too.

  • stupid americans..

  • Can you imagine their parents ?

  • "ohh tomato ketchup I know daut onee"

  • AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • jeopardy music would go great with this.

  • Why staring so hard at it, kid? The first thing he had was a tomato. Duh, stupids.

  • "Oh tumatoe catchup I knoe that wun!" Goddamn kids are just awful.

  • @worsefail so funny i was crying

  • I wonder if these american kids can tell the difference between a chicken and cow

  • No idea what the thing at 1:13 is D:

  • @XeeGen That was a beet.

  • @EPICT0ASTER Ah thank you so much. Been bothering me the whole week. Beet didn't even cross my mind. Horrible horrible vegetable :(

  • @XeeGen they're wonderful vegetables. Cook them the way you'd cook a potato when making roast beef.

  • are all american kids like this...

  • @memeteora1 no, no, no. this is RURAL america. i've lived in Seattle all my life and I didn't even try fast food until middle school. please don't judge america by what happens in what we call "Jesusland".

  • @ROBOTNIK28 hahahhaha jesusland.

  • @ROBOTNIK28 lol what is jesusland?

  • Comment removed

  • @capchio jesusland is the american south and midwest; generally everything that isn't hawaii, washington, oregon, california, minnesota, wisconsin, michigan, illinois, pennsylvania, new york, and all of new england.

  • WTF?? I'm from West Virginia and I knew the difference at age 4. What is wrong with them???

  • And this is why America is noted to be the most obese country. A kid should know the names of these produce! Sad!

  • The sad part is that the teacher was smiling during all of this. Do you really think its CUTE or FUNNY that no one has taught them what food is? Any normal concerned teacher should have a look or horror on their face when listening to this, I know I did.

  • @dartarro21 im sure the teacher didnt even recognize any single vegetable

  • Little kids and the rest of us should have money to eat better food. We are a nation FORCED to eat off the DOLLAR MENU.

  • @celtglen oh, for Christ's sake, Americas GDP per capita is sky high in comparison to other developed countries. AND you can cook at home healthy meals for very cheap price.

  • celewy

  • This can't be true. What is wrong with this children?

  • @skoczdobiedronki1 you mean "these children"...

  • @izzardPL you're right

  • "EGG SALAD!"

  • What happened to our munchkins? Are their heads full of mush? The NEA should be proud of it's membership!

  • ... gad dammit america... again? how many times have i said this... damn america... stop being... idk if there is a word for it... oh yeah! ... stop being ignorant..

  • ''EGG SALAD!''

    what a bunch of vegtables...

  • Seriously, who DOESN'T know this stuff?

They should at least know what a pumpkin is.

I have lost hope for future generations.... D':

  • @rosebudweb Don't worry man, this is just a reality show, meaning its all scripted for drama and disbelief.

  • This is AN EXTREME case in Huntington. I only just discovered dragon fruit having a kiwi fruit like centre but white.

  • Dude! I'm an American, and I'm only twelve but in the 1st grade I knew this stuff...times are changing.... -.-

  • @xJulielee509x but you are overweight/eat a lot of fastfood don't you? :)

  • @izzardPL D: no. FAST FOOD IS DISCUSTING! XP

  • @xJulielee509x good for you.

  • @izzardPL ....ermm okay....

  • LMAO at the kid at 1:30 who jumps out of his chair and still gets it wrong.

  • Fucking stupid americans

  • LOL LOL "EGG SALAD"

  • why do so many people think this is funny? i just don't get why! if my child was one of the kids this video i would be absolutely mortified!

  • OMG this is horrific! And I thought kids in the UK were bad enough! Think the American government needs to put funding into food education and health awareness like the "Change For Life" scheme and cookery lessons, and the free healthy breakfast like the Welsh assembly government has done where I live.

  • It's just sad to see these kids not knowing the names of those vegetables. Future of America.. :( Hope America doesn't turn out as bad as this in the future.. :|

  • This is beyond ignorance! :-O

  • I know this is sad and all but holy shit I'm laughing.

  • There is one thing I will say and that is I am from England and whenever I go to America on holiday I feel so guilty because even if I ask for a small portion of something in America it's like quadrupled I've asked for kids breakfast meals before and they've been like 4 huge pancakes I never eat all my food in America cause they give you so much of it it's such a waste especially with people other countries starving.

  • @kittycat13458 I think they're trying to justify the price that these bastards set up. If they don't give you big portions, they can't charge you too much.

Regarding wastes, you might want to look at the way things are run in your own country as well. There are many retail/supermarket chains in England. All of produce are not donated to charities. They are perishable easily and are usually discarded. So don't play innocent.

  • @kittycat13458 Whenever you feel like criticizing the US, avoid acting like the problem only exists in the US. In case you don't notice it, the technology has actually allowed Americans to search the kinds of problems that exist in other foreign countries such as yours.

At least have the decency to acknowledge that the same problem exists in both UK and US, so you won't look like a hypocrite ;)

  • @ttiiyy um i was talking about the size of food portions because its a food program (i don't know why your talking about technology) and im sorry but america is the one country that gives out way too much food to their people, and im not sounding like a hypocrite as my point was that america give out too big portions, and the uk doesnt, but saying that doesent mean that i dont think my county wastes food because i know it does all MEDC's waste food....

  • God bless America.

  • This depresses me.. deeply. My own home state. This is what it's turned into.

  • EGGSALAD!

  • Parents. I am disappoint.

  • I have uploaded video of my little boy (22 months old) recognising more than 15 veggies!!!!

  • @raamisonny I saw him! well done to you both

  • @totallymangled Thank you so much :)

  • sad to see this video :( My 22 months boy recognises all these veggies!!

  • 日本もそのうちこうなっちゃうんだろうか・・・

  • ouch...

  • i really hope this is edited to look worse, otherwise it is truly sad

  • dam those kids fucking are retarded wtf parents wtf

  • @bradparedes relax there teacher shows them what vegetables are named later on

  • Jaime isn't forcing anyone to do anything. he's simply caring and passionate about helping. he never says people don't have a choice. he says he wants to help people understand what's best for their bodies. he empowers people to change by teaching them to understand and by giving them the skills to make better choices. so, it was actually BEFORE he came that these people didn't have choices, because you can't choose to eat healthier when you don't even know what that means. mad props to Jamie!

  • I am so behind Jamie on changing the way America eats. We are so unhealthy and sick in this country. More power to him.

  • when I was in 1st grade I couldn't identify an eggplant either, though I did know tomatoes & potatoes. Eggplant isn't a common meal in many households, not too much nightshade in some homes, neither is cauliflower so no surprise there. For some people they have trouble processing vegetables so some homes may not have those things around & use substitutions such as juice. I wouldn't panic with this, they're only in 1st grade.

  • @Anglynn74 I don't think there is any excuse for these children to not know these vegetables. Knowing fruits and veggies (even the uncommon ones) should be a priority. If you only taught children what is common, all they would know is fast food like pizza and cheeseburgers. "only in 1st grade" ??? This is where the brain is READY AND WILLING to absorb all this useful knowledge. You want them to wait until they're in middleschool/high school to learn where proper food comes from???

  • Little kids should watch Veggie Tales.

  • disgraceful

  • I bet alto more Americans would eat healther if healthy food wasn't so expensive.

  • @koluig1234 A lot of these things you can grow in your backyard with no problem, and it's not expensive at all. Buy some scallions, use the tops, put the ends in some dirt and you have a never ending supply of scallions!

  • @koluig1234 Good point.

  • I find this particular episode quite biased, it's pretty obvious he went into a low performing 1st grade class, there's no way an average student can be that stupid.

  • @lucernrox A first grader should know what a tomato is.

  • @koluig1234 that's exactly my point, that has to be a classroom specialized for under performing students, aka IEP's.

  • He is gettinig so much opposition in america because he is threatening big food corporations that supply the schools, and the school officials in charge probably get kickbacks from the contracts,,,also the pharmaceutical and medical companies who will make millions treating obese children and adults....follow the money..its sickening how the kids are kept ignorant about what they ingest, my 3 yr old can name all fruit and veg,( ok, she might not be too crazy about some of them, but thats kids,)

  • These children are only six. Watch these older children in UK. Tye in the words "Jamie's School Dinners - e02, p1of4" in the search box. You'll be shocked by what you see in the second half of the video. These older children can't name basic vegetables, either.

  • I don't understand why there are British trolls that make fun of America. I watched some episodes of the UK version. Their food at schools is truly equally bad.

  • This is probably a poor area where most blue-collar people live. This region does not represent the whole nation. I think the children in the more affluent areas will know tomatoes.

I am not finding excuses for these bad parents that fail to teach their own children basic vegetables and fruits.

However, I am really disgusted by some people that PREACH at poor people. They need to be helped, NOT RIDICULED.

There are WEALTHY school districts in the US that serve healthy foods.

  • Only in America people, only in America.

  • @JTucker3 I don't know. They are just six year olds. It's hard to tell.

  • @JTucker3 You sound like a retard. Type the words "Jamie's School Dinners - e01, p1of4" in youtube search box. Toward the end of the clip, you'll see a bunch of British children that are even older (12-13 year olds) who do not know cucumbers and celeries. Now that's ridiculous!

The fact that you think this kind of problems only exists in America illustrates both your ignorance and arrogance.

  • @ttiiyy I've seen the episode and clip in question. They are 7 year olds, not 12-13 year olds. I think if a 12 or 13 year old didn't know what a cucumber was they'd have learning difficulties. If you watch the american food revolution, Jamie says the problem exists in the UK and America. So don't pay attention to the racists on here.

  • @chelsea1289 I don't want to argue with you, but in the video, one of the British girls said that she's 12 or 13. That's why I brought it up.

Those children in that clip do not look like 7 year olds. Maybe you and I watched different clips. I did emphasize "toward the end of the clip."

  • I agree with the thought that kids should be fed better quality & nutritious foods at school. Having said that, Jamie made a comment that was very disturbing to me in this episode. He said that the government should not "allow parents to feed their children this rubbish", talking about fries, sloppy joes, etc.

I don't want a government that interferes in our lives to the point that we are told what to eat & when to eat it. Just another example of the chipping away of our freedom of choice.

  • @bubbajolee Some people that eat fat bacon everyday support the state-run insurance. If these fatasses do not want to control their own diets, why the hell should the whole society pay for their heart surgeries?

Some poor people are born with diseases that they have no control over. I believe that the government should help them out.

Some irresponsible people, on the other hand, create the problems themselves.

  • @bubbajolee I 100% agree with you on the personal responsibility!

  • @bubbajolee what if your choices are really bad and affecting the whole community?

  • @vindalooforyou how so?

  • @bubbajolee when someone has health problems because of their obesity, or unhealthy eating (diabetes, heart disease etc) it affects their families, their employers, and hospitals. families may lose a vital member and a source of income, employers lose productivity, and most importantly hospitals become overcrowded and need more funding from the government. the government would need to increase revenue by raising taxes for the whole population, thus affecting the whole community/state/nation

  • @vindalooforyou first of all, not all hospitals get government funding. Second of all, taking away people's right of free choice for the sake of "helping them" is nothing but fascism in disguise. I'm not arguing that as a society, we should eat healthier. I just don't think that something should be forced upon us simply because someone has deemed it "appropriate".

  • WOW.....so these parents never taught these kids what fruits & vegetables are. I mean i dont like veggies & i knew them when i was like 3.(the basic ones) and i love fruits and i knew them like at age 3 too. wow its so sad. but i need to eat more cause im too skinny. skinny parents=skinny kids (i think)

  • it's so sad that parents can't even be bothered to show their kids what fresh food looks like, I mean don't they come shopping with them? It's utter nonsence. And these are meant to be the next generation of workers and parents! god knows what their children will be like.

  • it's so sad that parents can't even be bothered to show their kids what fresh food looks like, I mean don't they come shopping with them? It's utter nonsence. And these are meant to be the next generation of workers and parents!

  • haha american accent :D

  • How the hell do you not know what a tomato is?

  • "Oh Tomato Ketchup, I know that one."

  • What's wrong with parents??

Poor kids, I know alot of 2 and 3 year olds who know exactly what a tomato is. Don't these children get vegetables or potatos in school or at home? In sweden we have potatos for lunch like almost everyday.

No wonder why there are so many fat people in America...!!

  • French revolution.

  • Oh God this is so sad :(

  • AMERIIIIICA!!! FUCK YEAH!!! NUMBER 1!!! USA USA USA!!!

  • Not everything is responsability of teachers or educational institutions. There is such a thing called good and responsable parenting.

  • What about good parenting.....everything is not the teacher or school responsability!!!!!!

  • Americaaaaa FUCK YEAHHH!

  • OMG, fruit/veg is the type of thing i would learn straight away! its like learning numbers or colours! This is so worrying!!!

  • Comment removed

  • OMG dumbasses

  • "EGG SALAD" that kid is awesome

  • so sad

  • I went to Italy, Greece, France and Turkey for 2 and a half weeks this past summer and didn't see one fat person. I did see some, but they were Americans part of our tour groups or on other tour groups. And they eat a lot in those countries, but everything is made fresh and naturally.

  • @willshakespear2007; WTF is wrong with you? All she said was she doesn't like being stereotyped... She said nothing about White, asian or black Australians, and somehow you draw "very telling" and and "just the white ones" from that.

Man you clearly have your' own gigoted agenda against Australians and you are not doing a very good job of disguising that.

Trolls like you make me agree with missinquisitive20 , I'm so sick of Australians being labeled racist by hypocritical americans.

  • damn

those r some smart children !

  • "half of the adults are considered obese."

    Teacher is very obese ha!

  • egg-

    egg salad~

    shocking...

  • LOL america fails

  • POMATO!!!!!

  • 0:16 YAY i have that sweater :p

  • DAM! THESE KIDS ARE RETARDED!

  • god i hate kids

  • The parents of those kids should be taken out and flogged in public then put in the stocks.

My own 8 niece at the age of 5 knew the difference between veg's and fruits by the age of 5, and would if given the chance go through a mountain of them.

  • EGG SALAD!

  • 1:05

That kid looks like what he's being shown :L

  • @Fumfig ZOMG LMAO!!
