Beautifully done...I especially like the modulation beyond the "normal" half-step! Really nice! There is an arrangement by J. Christopher Pardini that you may like, too. You did a great job with a truly great hymn.

Beautiful playing and technique, I would liked to have heard it without those ugly reeds, they really need to be revoiced so they don't bury the rest of the organ. But, the organist was excellent.
Absolutely Wonderful!! What a combination!..one of the greatest hymns of the Christian faith being beautifuly played on the great king of instruments.Splendid performance!!
Fantastic! This is the way hymns should be played. I love going into a new church where someones grandmother was the organist for 75 years and dusting off the keys! So grattifying to see the church members looking at each other like "what the heck just happened?" I love it!
Interesting that you would modulate a third away from the original key. That seems to put the high note at a G above the staff. Would you intend to use such a change for congregational singing?
Ignore the stinkin thinkin! You know what you can and cannot do. This is awesome and, for reasons I do not need to go into, I know a precise, clear, and high quality organ performance. This is it! Stay blessed....
I think you are a wonderful organist! Some people just think they are the worlds critics, I would like to someone do better!!! TWO THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!!!!
You are an awesome organist. What a stirring rendition! Our Lord is awesome, and you communicate great excitement about who He is. Thanks so much for posting this and sharing your talent. Truly enjoyable!
Amen! One of my fave hymns. Well done - not too slow, not too fast! Would love to go to a church with a big pipe organ. The small keyboards they use in a lot of churches today just don't have the presence of a big ole' pipe organ.
I listened to this brilliant rendition of "To God Be the Glory" and am touched very deeply by your playing - it is so inspiring and powerful. Thank you so much for posting your video here on YouTube. I sensed that this hymn touches you at the core of your being as you play it.
THANK YOU so much for that info. It makes total sense. I do agree that this is the way To God Be The Glory ought to be played. Keep up the good work and hopefully someday you might do Holy, Holy Holy or Onward Christian Soldiers.
GREAT JOB! I am an church organist as well and I was just was wondering what those chords were that you hit the second time around on the measures that say "Who yielded His life an antonement for sin" with the emphasis on "for sin"? If you could share that or which piece of music you are reading it would be very much appreciated! Thank you & God Bless!
The key I play it in is Ab. At the part you're talking about I keep the same Eb chord on "for" but go down to a Db in the bottom note of left hand and pedal, then on "sin" go down another step to a C major chord built normally from the bottom up.
Magnificent!

It looks like there is a security camera mounted on the wall next to the organ on the left.

flentrop2009 2 years ago
No. I normally only modulate up a half step, or a whole step at most. I went up from Ab to C just because the transition sounded neat.
bradtaylor32 2 years ago
Awesome! Could you record Holy, Holy, Holy on an organ like this? That hymn is great on a powerful organ like this one.

Hi question for you....i noted the large sounding stop in the pedal division. What stop was that just for my own curiosity
LeftiusMaximus 3 years ago
The 32' Bombarde comes on near the end of the last verse, I also have the 8' en chemade coupled to the pedal there.
bradtaylor32 3 years ago
Very well done. This is a song that screams for the rich, full voice of a church organ.
