This game doesn't look like it sucks, plus after reading a couple of reviews, they said that the players UNLOCK harder difficulties after playing the lighter difficulty which is the arcade style flight. THEN the game gets interesting and you can play the realistic flight simulator everyone wants.
Love the Spitfire Mk 1 and the Me 109E in this game. The Russian and American planes are awful. I was particularly dissapointed with the Mustang. It is so bad I actually cant use it without immense frustration. Not sure if this its true to life or not. But in this game, it is awful...
Help please. I'm looking for a name of a game. Maybe one of il sturmovik's. You're supposed to be an american joining the british during ww2. In one mission you protect london when it's being bombarded. Later you're a soviet pilot fighting german fighters.

this game sucks monster chode. the realism is more far off than HAWX. practicaly the only good planes are the over-powered Hurricane and the Spitfire. there are no cockpit views for any axis aircraft and none for bombers. the Fw-190, a plane that out matched the Bf-109's and RAF's fighters, handles like a dump truck going 300mph on ice. the P-51, which did better than the Meschershmits, handles the same way. and the realistic mode is far from realistic too. the only going for it r the graphics!!

Wow! I just got this game for Xbox 360 - God it's hot; great flying model - you can change the realism at will... My only gripe is that there's no custom/mission builder... Oh well, time to get the PC version! Heh-heh!!! ;)

hmm,if you have some guys in your friendlist who are really good its great fun in multiplayer,but again,simulation only... had some really cool dogfights with great maneuvers the last weeks...
but still no patch to get the Focke Wolf`s and the Mustang as they should be... :o( really a shame coz the 190 D9 was one of the best ww2 fighters and my personal favorite of all of them all...

@DarthRykar nah i think that expansion packs will be released for this just as they did for sturmovik forgotten battles. you know like ace expansion, pacific fighters and 1946.
@DarthRykar i think there are a couple of things that they could do to improve and here they are:
-the axis planes such as fw-190 seires and ta-152 could become flyable if you did'nt need to hit a la-5 40-50 times with your cannons to take them down and i think they were a lot more manouverable than the game suggests
-missing cockpits was a disapointement
- i would have liked skin coustomization and having to unlock every plane sucks really bad
-the only area this beats 1946 is graphic detail.

this is actualy a realy good game! the russians did a great job and the details are incredable you can actualy see your wing get chewed up by enemy rounds
You only see your plane get chewed up by enemy fire if your a bad pilot ;)
But yeah, the graphics towards most things of the game are epicly great. Controls are a little funky, but still not too difficult. I personally like the debris from planes when you shoot alot off them and it can damage and even destroy you plane =)
Yep i totally agree. It acturally feels like your in a plane. What i like best is that the damage is real. You have to hit them at certain points to take down the plane. Arcade.... TOO easy.

The demo on the Marketplace is awsome. I just keep playing the 1st level they give you, shotting down bombers and ramming their wings never gets old for IL-2's gameplay!
Can i ask you a question? You said that your 67% on trophies right? I'm a assuming that you have done most of the game. Anyways, my whole point is that, have you unlocked all the weapons and aircrafts? I have done all the available missions and i haven't unlocked them all. Any tips? Do i have to do them on a harder difficulty (i did them on arcade).
70% now. ive compleated on all levels arcade, realistic and simulator. it takes time (do simulator after arcade, get 2 trophies for the price of one:) )
to unlock all aircraft (which i havent) you need to play *alot* online...i really mean alot buts its worth it and so far its the first game ive playe where the platinum is on the horizon (i said earlier the platiunm didnt work, i found out they did an update so it should work now) also do all the single missons awell
You mean you can unlock planes when playing "Online".... that's a bit hard to believe. I've done all the avilable single player mission (on arcarde) unlocked a bit of stuff but i'm assuming that you can unlock more planes if you get a higher point score.
Well the PC parts are the real IL-2, the simulation. I love IL-2 and have been playing it for years now. No pro but i good. What i want to see is if this is just an action game or maybe a simulation. and yes your friend might not get this but he can get hundreds of skins, missions, campaigns and mods for IL-2 on the net, wich the consoleros usually don´t get. As well as custom skins.
There is the The IL-2 1946 for the PC, its a simulation. Graphics might not as good but you can really get them better with some of the mods you get online. But for playing IL-2 i strongly suggest a joystick with throttle.............nothing beats a joystick or a HOTAS in a Flightsim.
IL-2: Sturmovik - Birds of Prey can be a very god fly simulation game! i have play the demo on PS3, and i must say, its very good, control is not so dirficualt! graphics is nice (will be better in the full version)! and the strory is ok!
just downloaded the demo myself,as i said very good animations ,quite dificualt to handle in simulator mode,but..i think that this game is only to make some people of console comunity to start thinking and trying to fly a simulator game.
It is not realistic simulator of course,it just have some parts of it.
The only minus is that it has not any extra controls that all PC simulator have,no separate gun firing,no radiators,no pro-pitch,no mixtoure settings,no triming settings,and some more...
I have to say going on the demo, this is a beautiful looking game, i just hope it comes out on PC soon as the 360 gamepads which i usually love just dont work for a game like this.
None like this. Before I picked up a controller and played this in HMV, IL-2 was just a brick in the wall hardcore flight sim which I picked up for 99p for a laugh. For me, Arcade mode made it an accessible, fun and intense experience. Sure they're planning on another IL-2 for the PC, but if it does away with what BoP offers, I won't have any incentive to get it.
just for this game i have to say that it looks great,i am an old player of IL2 in Pc so i can eazy recognize the quality and the realism of any game.
This game has great scenery animations and it is quiet dificualt to handle in realistic mode,as for some peoples conserns about joysticks and extra controls that coming from a keybord....just plag the joystick and a keybord compatible and your conserns are lost!
I played the demo on 360 and I was amazed. I figured this would suck just like every other flight sim that is on console. This surprised me completely. This is just as good, if not better then the other versions on PC
as someone with a respectable pc (15427 3dmark06 ) i have a love for flight sims and yes i do have IL-2 on pc, i also play (or fly) falcon 4.0 and LOMC, what i dont understand is why all you die hard PC nuts are whinning. i got the demo of birds of prey on 360 and on simulation mode it is quite a handful, i found myself constantly trimming and retrimming the aircraft and only managed 3 kills first time out, the future is with consoles sad to say.. IGN's very words. Now where is that controller,

Uhh... that depends on your definition of "impossible". there might be an option to turn the hud off without changing flight model difficulty, etc.

2nd...no axis missions...
3rd..online...some planes overpowered (hurri,la`s), some underpowered (most axis fighters,fw190 is like a flying brick)...
4th...multiplayer sux on arcade and a bit on realistic,only sim is good, buts not real sim cause of missing axis cocpits and missing onlineplayers...
graphics great but i think was to early released...

You only see your plane get chewed up by enemy fire if your a bad pilot ;)
But yeah, the graphics towards most things of the game are epicly great. Controls are a little funky, but still not too difficult. I personally like the debris from planes when you shoot alot off them and it can damage and even destroy you plane =)

Just bought this game yesturday for Xbox 360,Ace Game I give it 10 out of 10.
lets hope Xbox brings more of these out.

personally, i don't think this is as good as the Ace Combat , but hey, it still looks like it's by far the best on PS3

Yep i totally agree. It acturally feels like your in a plane. What i like best is that the damage is real. You have to hit them at certain points to take down the plane. Arcade.... TOO easy.

The demo on the Marketplace is awsome. I just keep playing the 1st level they give you, shotting down bombers and ramming their wings never gets old for IL-2's gameplay!

no...i quite simple . on simulator you just have to look a little harder and look for tanks firing on the ground

Can i ask you a question? You said that your 67% on trophies right? I'm a assuming that you have done most of the game. Anyways, my whole point is that, have you unlocked all the weapons and aircrafts? I have done all the available missions and i haven't unlocked them all. Any tips? Do i have to do them on a harder difficulty (i did them on arcade).

70% now. ive compleated on all levels arcade, realistic and simulator. it takes time (do simulator after arcade, get 2 trophies for the price of one:) )
to unlock all aircraft (which i havent) you need to play *alot* online...i really mean alot buts its worth it and so far its the first game ive playe where the platinum is on the horizon (i said earlier the platiunm didnt work, i found out they did an update so it should work now) also do all the single missons awell

You mean you can unlock planes when playing "Online".... that's a bit hard to believe. I've done all the avilable single player mission (on arcarde) unlocked a bit of stuff but i'm assuming that you can unlock more planes if you get a higher point score.

Well the PC parts are the real IL-2, the simulation. I love IL-2 and have been playing it for years now. No pro but i good. What i want to see is if this is just an action game or maybe a simulation. and yes your friend might not get this but he can get hundreds of skins, missions, campaigns and mods for IL-2 on the net, wich the consoleros usually don´t get. As well as custom skins.

There is the The IL-2 1946 for the PC, its a simulation. Graphics might not as good but you can really get them better with some of the mods you get online. But for playing IL-2 i strongly suggest a joystick with throttle.............nothing beats a joystick or a HOTAS in a Flightsim.

IL-2: Sturmovik - Birds of Prey can be a very god fly simulation game! i have play the demo on PS3, and i must say, its very good, control is not so dirficualt! graphics is nice (will be better in the full version)! and the strory is ok!

just downloaded the demo myself,as i said very good animations ,quite dificualt to handle in simulator mode,but..i think that this game is only to make some people of console comunity to start thinking and trying to fly a simulator game.
It is not realistic simulator of course,it just have some parts of it.
The only minus is that it has not any extra controls that all PC simulator have,no separate gun firing,no radiators,no pro-pitch,no mixtoure settings,no triming settings,and some more...

I have to say going on the demo, this is a beautiful looking game, i just hope it comes out on PC soon as the 360 gamepads which i usually love just dont work for a game like this.

None like this. Before I picked up a controller and played this in HMV, IL-2 was just a brick in the wall hardcore flight sim which I picked up for 99p for a laugh. For me, Arcade mode made it an accessible, fun and intense experience. Sure they're planning on another IL-2 for the PC, but if it does away with what BoP offers, I won't have any incentive to get it.

Hello all,
just for this game i have to say that it looks great,i am an old player of IL2 in Pc so i can eazy recognize the quality and the realism of any game.
This game has great scenery animations and it is quiet dificualt to handle in realistic mode,as for some peoples conserns about joysticks and extra controls that coming from a keybord....just plag the joystick and a keybord compatible and your conserns are lost!

I played the demo on 360 and I was amazed. I figured this would suck just like every other flight sim that is on console. This surprised me completely. This is just as good, if not better then the other versions on PC

as someone with a respectable pc (15427 3dmark06 ) i have a love for flight sims and yes i do have IL-2 on pc, i also play (or fly) falcon 4.0 and LOMC, what i dont understand is why all you die hard PC nuts are whinning. i got the demo of birds of prey on 360 and on simulation mode it is quite a handful, i found myself constantly trimming and retrimming the aircraft and only managed 3 kills first time out, the future is with consoles sad to say.. IGN's very words. Now where is that controller,
