Huh! Has it been Re-attributed? How is it attributed as one of the seven Progressive Sonatas or was it a mistake. She DID write another sonata herself, though.
@sunidak She wrote 6 sonatas in opus 2, which is where the C minor came from.. she wrote others, including a piano sonata dor maria Cosway.
When Dussek abandoned Sophia in 1799, he went first to Hamburg then back to Paris. He had no funds, so arranged for some editions to be publioshed. Pleyel was publishing in Paris, and Dussek sent some works to him Sophia's opus 2 was one of these, but Sophia was pretty much unknown in Paris, so Pleyel just put Dussek on the cover. cont
@sunidak The Pleyel edition is in the Bib. Nat in Paris, and that is what Zabaleta used as his source for the Schott edition, and assumed it was JL, not Sophia, but the original Corri-Dussek edition from 1794 is in the BL in London, and states by Madame Dussek.
Hanna, you've got what it takes to be a fine musician. Never stop playing the harp.
BTW, did you know that the sonata you performed was probably written by JL Dussek's wife Sophia? It's a beautiful piece, and you play it very well. JL Dussek wrote 4 harp concertos. You would do them nicely! Maybe when you are asked to appear with an orchestra (if you haven't been already...). Best of luck!
i like your technique!

Hello Hanna
You play wonderfully. I have just become 14 and started learning the Harp exactly 1 year ago (June 2008).
I really can't wait until I am good enough to play this type of music.
You are an inspiration to me.
Thank you
Lizzie

My hat is off to you.
Thank you for the performance.
Did you know that the third movement was played very often on Italian radio a few decades ago as a "filler" music?
It was not the only Dussek piece to be used by RAI as "filler" music, by the way.
Thanks for bringing back to me my youth.
