i honestly think that this is gonna b another one of those things that happened in season one where they talk about klause throughout the entire season and then in the finale he will show up just like katherine did also i have this weird feeling that when klause arrives he will b with jenna for some reason and this will create turmoil between alaric and klause

the last two episodes before the season ended were FABULOUS!
in this one, i especially loved the matt/caroline that was going on. from the singing on stage (i loved how she compelled the singer, haha) to the sweeping of her feet kiss to her showing matt who she is and saving him to her flat out telling him everything. and then there washow matt just instantly put the vicky things together. i'm super excited to see where they go with this!
Damon and Stefan really are in a jam with so many people out to get them and Elena. Has it occur to other viewers that yes Bonnie may be the witch to break the curse but that Elena may still need to be sacrificed. A clever thing to do if she has to be sacrificed is to sacrifice her with stefans blood in her system. Not only could she break the curse by being human but become a vampire afterwords and have a possible happily ever after with the Salvatore brothers,until there is another theat
You didn't talk about Damon and Elena possibly bonding throughout the season with Stefan and Catherine perhaps bonding too... But overall great review as usual this is the only review i watch so keep it up ;)
Yeah I agree with you, there has to be more about Luka's sister in future episodes... But one thing is for sure; there's gonna be an epic showdown between the vamps and Klaus.... Bring it on!! :D
Good Review Kristen.. First Damon and Katherine had the best scenes of this episode the hand slaping and damon staking her. I Think Deep Down Stefan wants katherine maybe he gives into his lust for her in future episodes and we get to see Elena and Damon bond. as for the witches I think luka's Sister will be after Bonnie. And Caroline telling matt I think its a good and bad thing.. I wonder is Klaus already in town and watching everyone?

hey, so I love Damon and he sorta NEED to continue to protect Elena....I think that Stefan is going to realize the Kat still is in love with him and he's going to have to choice...but that's just my thought. :) what I hope happens next, is that not only do they figure everything out and tell Jenna something, but Damon finally ends up happy...that they finally write in someone Damon loves and doesn't end up dying right off the bat....so yeah. great review by the way. :)

Damon's character there isn't much going on and I don't mind that but the Elena situation is so one sided that he went on and on about it for episodes and there still is not point where her side is made clear, and then the complete breakdown that lead up to Reporter rebound that was pretty played out in most episodes and btw where is she? lol uhhh I dunno I still am completely in love with his character but am aching to see it played around with a bit more
I want Matt dead at the end of this season. I wanna see how Caroline takes it, cause I know she will get on, even though she deeply loves him. We all know she's one badass vampire and really strong - both mentally and physically. I don't think Matt's strong enough for her, he won't be able to understand. All this stuff with Vicki and all... Gosh, I hate her! But Tyler will (yes, my selfishness just took over. I do like Caroline & Tyler as a couple).
Bonnie and Jeremy I love gr8 couple there just 2 cute but going from from I dont want anything to do with you to hopelessly in love with him was a bit forced and for a while I was like "did I miss something?" but...yes I love the couple and it probably is based on the fact that she was worried about what Elena might think but :-) nevertheless they make up relli gr8 lighthearted scenes
Personal opinion Luka and Dr.Martin obviously expired their time but the mere fact of how is was dealt with...uh for me it was a bit iffy I dunno I just thought it was a bit rushed like some sort of Once upon a time sister n sister bla bla bla the end and I thought maybe that needed a tad bit more development
One of the great things about VD, is the fact that NO ONE seems to be safe from death . I love the fact that you can get attached to a character and then they die. Matt is the BIGGEST throwaway character in this show and I'm really hoping they kill him off soon . He serves no purpose in the show IMO. GREAT REVIEW.

I soooooo love the new video! Good job as always, btw! I hope Elena ends up with Damon, though there aren't signs of romantic connections between them. Maybe Katherine being there and in love with Stefan might make things difficult...the two may become friends, Elena might get gelous, and that's where Damon could interfere. Just a scenario workin' in my head,,,
I dont think Bonnie will die because she is one of the main characters and still serves a purpose to the story. I also think it would be too predictable in that every girl Jeremy dates dies... Im looking forward to more Katherine and Damon scenes because I love seeing them interact.

That last theory about the Salvatore Brothers working with Klaus-never will happen; that would just be too easy of an ending if everyone just suddenly buddied up.
Now, putting my Delena dreams aside, I don't see Kat really doing anything major with Stefan. HOWEVER, Kat influencing Damon is a different story.

Yes, he's still an idiot who goes out every once in a while and kills some poor girl or provokes a werewolf. (Seriously, he's done that last one TWICE and it bit him in the rear both times.) But, not only is this not being provoked by those locked in emotions you know are bubbling like a volcano inside of him, but we not realize also that Stefan's gone through a similar cycle....

We love Damon, but this isn't "Damon's Diaries", this is "Vampire Diaries." Perhaps these character developments (Damon's forward, Stefan's backward) will play a role when it dawns on them exactly how big of a hole the two of hem have dug for themselves with this whole Klaus/Elena/Katerine/john & Isobel/and everyone else who wants them dead.
hmm...I'm not too set on Klaus having an alternate to the sacrifice just because he's been forcing witches to work on that for centuries now.
I still think as soon as he gets whiff of Elena he'll want to proceed as he was going to with Katherine, ergo I do not think Elena is anywhere near safe. Nevertheless I appreciate your many insights, there is indeed much to ponder during this mooooonth-long break!

I was hoping someone would turn Elena into a vampire if she tried to do the sacrifice... someone (and I was hoping it was Damon haha) would give her vampire blood before the sacrifice (without telling her, of course) and if Klaus killed her, she would come back from death... I mean, it's the perfect situation, plus that way she would remember what Damon said to her when he was with her necklace... I don't know if that would break the curse, but if it didn't then they should try the witch thing
I went from being skeptical about the show to absolutely loving it! & after I started getting into it, I wanted to know how other people thought of it; episode after episode. I'm super happy you have your reviews every week and that you go through every aspect of the plotline and the theories for the rest of the season. It makes it so more enjoyable to watch. I felt bad for Luka. Burning alive seems like a bad way to go. I'm also upset about Jonas' death. I was hoping Jonas would mentor her on witchcraft. And what about Greta. She gets free of Klaus only to discover her father and brother are both death. I have a theory. I haven't read the books but is it possible for a vampire to regain his/her humanity? Maybe John and Isobel wants Katherine human and then use her for the sacrifice. After all, Kat tried to kill John. He has to want revenge.

I want to see what Isobel does to John when she finds out he has taken Ric's ring. Isobel gave it to Ric to keep him safe and I don't think she is going to be happy. Maybe it is just a witch/warlock thing but seem they always blame someone else for their screw-up. Jonas sent Luka to his death and blames Damon and Stefan. Bonnie has messed up more than once and always blames Damon and Stefan. Love Damon telling Kat there are 6 other bedroom go find one.

Bonnie can't die. I'll be sooooooo sad if she does.... Katherine can't die either cuz I love her too. Okay lol actually here's the list of who they can't kill for me, even though I love pretty much all of the characters: Elena, Stefan, Katherine, Bonnie and Damon too.
I'm a hardcore Stefan/Elena fan, but I also love Stefan/Katherine. I think there's so much they can do with Stefan and Katherine, even if it is just Stefan eventually forgiving her a little.
The thing that annoyed me the most was Elena she was just so annoying I mean seriously how many times did she say "I" or "want" in the beginning of this episode and it looked like every time she said one of those words she was expecting Stefan to do something

o i very much loved this episode... in my opinion this has been the 1 of the strongest epis since they TVD came back from the christmas/newyear break.... i love Kat and her relationship with Damen... tis is the first time in a while when i didnt hate Damen.. and my poor Caroline,i have no idea what the writers will do with Matt...and the whole witch story this episode was well appreciated..i hope jenn will learn what the hell is goin on...and isabel! eek! i totally/def CANT wait til the new epi

Great review! In my personal opinion "The Dinner Party" was more suspenseful then last weeks "The House Guest", but I am still Vampire Diaries #1 fan!! I can not wait til April for another episode!!!???? UGH!!!!
Some of your theories made me think about some things.
I doubt Bonnie will die.I think that when Jonas grabbed her , he gave his powers to her.That way with some practise Bonnie would be able to handle it.
Klaus won't be easy to beat so probably he will be the main villain in season 3.
The episode was amazing.The only thing that bothered me was the lack of Delena..They better be preparing somthing epic for them at the finale!

I don't think Isabelle and John care about Elena or who she's with. Nor does Kat care about Stephan. I think she has some other plan. She told Damon about the deal because she knows when it comes down to it Damon will work with her to save Stephan.
@katelyn2100 Some of my favorite scenes in episode 16 were the scenes with Damon and Katherine. There is definitely still a cat and mouse game being played, and these two have so much chemistry together it isn't funny (not that I'm hoping they end up together). Also Caroline's decision to tell Matt, and both of them freaking out in the end. ;-)
I loved this episode!!! it was absolutely awesome. I loved Beremy! so cute =). even though i wish tyler would come back and swoop caroline away, i still thought that matt and caroline were the cutest thing EVER, and caroline has a great singing voice. Not happy about the lack of delena, not sure exactly were they are going with them. Hopefully the tables will turn and there will be some development between those two and katherine and stefan. I liked luka!! :( loved katherine scenes<2 YEY ISOBEL

@HendonGothDetectives That WAS the best quote! Hilarious. I do agree that all characters don't need to know what happens, but (my personal opinion) Matt wasn't doing anything. Jenna at least has this drama with Isobel coming out of the woodwork, which will make her storyline more interesting. ;-)

Frankly, last couple of episodes before this one seemed a bit dull and just building up episodes for the ones to come and I was getting a bit bored with the entire thing. So glad I stuck by it.
Loved the scene where Kat fights the invisible worlock kid throwing herself on the moving dagger! Have to give props to Nina Dobrev again cause I can't remember any other episode where there were so many Kat/Elena interactions and she pulled them off greatly!

But that's my only complaint in what was a whirlwind of an episode. The awful news? No new Vampire Diaries until April 7. The silver lining to the news? Plenty of time to discuss whether Matt will come to grips with what he's learned... what the return of Isobel means... where the witch burial ground is located... how the team will kill Klaus. And anything else that is on your mind.
And then we get to Matt. Poor, confused, innocent, would-have-died-if-not-for-the-blood-of-his-vampire-girlfriend, Matt. I loved his reaction to Caroline's revelation, specifically the call back to Vicki. It makes perfect sense he'd be especially sensitive to the whole vampire thing.
It did feel cheap, however, that the show cut away in the middle of this pair's confrontation. Sort of a lame way to create a cliffhanger. Still, better than The Notebook.
Hmmm, what two locations now fit that bill? The Salvatore household and the Gilbert household. Come on in, Klaus, we'd love to show you around! Might those be the words of witch wisdom Jonas imparted to Bonnie? Lure Klaus in, do some serious spelling and take advantage of the way in which he and his son perished. Something to keep our eyes on, fans.
As for those poor witches... Luka and Jonas were great additions to the show and they left us at the perfect time, in the perfect way: via surprising deaths that will likely play a major role going forward. After all, the Gilbert journals spoke of a witch massacre in Mystic Falls, along with the super power one can derive from a witch burial ground. Or simply the site where a witch died in a violent manner.
Informed that Katherine truly didn't care if he died - nay, actually plotted his death! - it looks like Damon has finally gotten over his centuries-old crush. Way to go, D! Might his feelings for Elena actually dissipate now, though? Originally, at least, they were tied into her resemblance to Katherine.
She chose Stefan. For that reason, John gave Damon the dagger and Katherine never revealed to him the fate that would befall any supernatural who used it. Conceivably, if Katherine had selected to save Damon, John would have given Stefan the dagger... right? As Katherine herself joked earlier in the episode, likely as a wink to viewers: "So many rules. It's all very confusing." Where is all this going? With Isobel's arrival, it's difficult to say. But one thing is for certain:
Later, of course, we learned a lot more about Katherine's scheming and her true reasoning for sticking around. I had to rewind her rundown of the deal with John to Damon, but as I best understand it:He showed up at the tomb at the conclusion of "Daddy Issues" and told Katherine he and Isobel wanted the Salvatores out of Elena's life. Katherine could assist. In exchange for helping them kill Elijah, she could save one brother.
The episode wasted no time getting into the action, as we opened on Katherine inside the Salvatore mansion, Damon explaining how she escaped the tomb and Katherine trying to explain why: she wants Klaus dead. She knows what he looks like, she knows where he is, they need her.Don't you just hate it when black bra-donning, 500-year old, diabolical vampires are right?
Before getting to the return of Isobel, the news that shook Matt to his core and the eulogies for Luka and Jonas, let's start with the most pressing question of all: where will everyone eat in the future?!? Losing the Mystic Falls Grill might affect this town more than the demise of any individual ever could.
This is like a horror movie. - My sister, seconds after jumping approximately six inches off the couch following Jonas' last-breath grab of Bonnie.It's hard to come up with a better way to describe "The House Guest," as it packed violent deaths, a roaring fire, shocking admissions and a surprise return into just one hour.
It seems that the whole world is against the Salvatore brothers. I wonder now that Matt knows about Caroline being a vampire what he will do or what will Caroline allow him to do since she has the ability to compel and make him forget. But I am glad he finally found out. Maybe Matt will become a major character in the upcoming episodes.
I always love your reviews! I like your theories but it would be really strange if Damon and Stefan worked with klaus... and again no damon and Elena scenes this episode which I wasn't too happy with! But all in all a fantastic episode!

And the whole thing with the witch cemetery, maybe that is why Luka’s dad was collecting all those spell books from other witches, because he knew he wouldn't be strong enough with out them inorder to do what he was going to do with Elijah.
I don’t think that Bonnie is going to kill Klus. I think she just has the information to do so, but she wouldn’t be the one to do it. Maybe if her cousin Lucy comes back like she said she would in the Masquerade episode, she would be the one to do it. Given that she is stronger and more experience in the magic department.
Once again, i loved this episode. I think showing Damon rejecting Katherine showed how much his feelings have grown for Elena now as opposed to the beginning of the season. I know it wasn't their intenion, but it was a little merciful for Katherine to kill Dr. Martin because he lost his son and his daughter. This doesn't seem to be very important, but i'm very interested in this daughter, i think something will be important about her. All in all, loved this episode as always <3 :)

This episode had so much going on. Did not expect both warlocks to die. Hope Elijah returns to help against Klaus. Also, Caroline needs to compel Matt to forget because he will not be able to forgive vampires for what happened to his sister. I also think Bonnie may be the one to die at the end of this season because all that witchcraft will be too much for one person unless her female relative, from the mascerade ball, returns to help. I'm so dedicated to this show, but I'm more dedicated to Damon and Elena and it's kind of upsetting that they're not exploring more of that storyline. I hope that in the process of all these story lines coming to an end, they'll find some way to give us some Delena fans hope... *crossing fingers* 41 days to go!

Episode 216 was heart pounding at some scenes. i have to say one of the best eps. of this season so far.i agree with you on katherine and that hopefully she doesn't keep pretending she's elena.matts reaction threw me didn't see him seeing the connection with vicki, vampires and then connecting although wrongly with caroline. @20cosmogirl I believe that was what he said beginning of season 2.. on the episode that Tyler threw that party in the woods, Caroline was a new vamp and under Stephans watch, Caroline and Matt got friendly in the Woods and Caroline started attacking Matt.. anyway Stephan pulled her off and i believe he said he will keep him on vervain so that she wont be tempted to do it again.

I really hope matt and caroline sort things out, i think she will just tell him that damon killed her. I think bonnie may come really close to dying, because elena said to her stuff about him having a lot of hurt after losing so many people and maybe thats foreshadowing something bad happening to her (i just hope she doesn't die) maybe the salvatore's could give her some blood before she does the sacrafice alternative and even if she dies she will still come back
and sadly, seeing as though Elijah's whole purpose on this show, as it seems, is to kill Klaus, so unfortunately I think Klaus and Elijah will wind up killing eachother at the end, because again, he will have served his purpose.

I think that she is going to leave that stake in him for now because she doesn't want him calling the shots anymore and then when it is time (when Klaus shows up) Elena will take out the dagger, have a little friendly talk with Elijah, and have him get rid of Klaus.
Also while on the topic of Elijah, when he comes back, what does that mean for Kat? Will she still be under compulsion to go back to the tomb? and my theory on who's going to be the one to bring Elijah back is ELENA.
And i do believe that they will do a couple more Kat pretending to be elena moments, because i think Klaus still thinks kat is either dead or missing because when Elijah compelled Kat to stay in the tomb he said Klaus will be very interested to know that she's in the tomb.
And i do believe that Bonnie will be the one to die because her grandmother did tell her in Season1 that she saw her having a young death. If damon and bonnie work together, what will elena think when she does die, will she blame either herself or Damon? And i still believe that Klaus will compel someone (potentially one of the Salvatore Brothers) to do something against their will and it may have to deal with Elena.
But the writiers probably won't bring back the tension damon feels about his love for elena until the situation with Klaus is under control and gone forever because his main priority now is to keep elena safe so all feelings are in the back burner for now. And hopefully in season 3 or 4 we will see Elena start to question herself about the feelings she has for Damon.
there use to be but now it's all down hill for the both of them. In an interview wih Ian, he stated that you would think once you let out your feelings of love toward someone it would be much easier to deal with, but he has informed us that it will only get worse for Damon in relations to how he feels for Elena, that eventually (hopefully not too long, but i don't want it to be too soon) he's is going to explode and the truth will be revealed.
I really hope that coming back Kat gets to see the chemistry between Elena and Damon, and i really hope we get to see more of the boiling hate-love relationship between DE because there is no "just friends" anymore.
Elijah has given his word to elena so even when he does com back from being "dead' he can't hurt them. And i absolutely loved the scene between Damon and Katherine in his bedroom because Kat is always using Damon's past feelings for her against him, but now she's starting to realize that those feelings are no longer there and that's because he's found his true love :) :(.
Don't forget Elijah and Elena made a deal where he said he wouldn't hurt any of them. But still, he will "hurt" Elena by trying to sacrifice her eventually. Bonnie right now scares the crap out of me, she knows how kill Klaus, but why is she spilling the secrets to Jer Bear when he's Elena's brother? Oh Bonnie, keep that stuff to yourself.

I loved this episode, I just hate that we have to wait until April to see the next episode: / I actually started liking Katherine in this episode.. one of my favorite parts was the scene where her and Damon have that little slap fight when Katherine goes to touch the book and Damon slaps her hand haha :)

the last two episodes before the season ended were FABULOUS!
in this one, i especially loved the matt/caroline that was going on. from the singing on stage (i loved how she compelled the singer, haha) to the sweeping of her feet kiss to her showing matt who she is and saving him to her flat out telling him everything. and then there washow matt just instantly put the vicky things together. i'm super excited to see where they go with this!

Damon and Stefan really are in a jam with so many people out to get them and Elena. Has it occur to other viewers that yes Bonnie may be the witch to break the curse but that Elena may still need to be sacrificed. A clever thing to do if she has to be sacrificed is to sacrifice her with stefans blood in her system. Not only could she break the curse by being human but become a vampire afterwords and have a possible happily ever after with the Salvatore brothers,until there is another theat

Good Review Kristen.. First Damon and Katherine had the best scenes of this episode the hand slaping and damon staking her. I Think Deep Down Stefan wants katherine maybe he gives into his lust for her in future episodes and we get to see Elena and Damon bond. as for the witches I think luka's Sister will be after Bonnie. And Caroline telling matt I think its a good and bad thing.. I wonder is Klaus already in town and watching everyone?

hey, so I love Damon and he sorta NEED to continue to protect Elena....I think that Stefan is going to realize the Kat still is in love with him and he's going to have to choice...but that's just my thought. :) what I hope happens next, is that not only do they figure everything out and tell Jenna something, but Damon finally ends up happy...that they finally write in someone Damon loves and doesn't end up dying right off the bat....so yeah. great review by the way. :)

Damon's character there isn't much going on and I don't mind that but the Elena situation is so one sided that he went on and on about it for episodes and there still is not point where her side is made clear, and then the complete breakdown that lead up to Reporter rebound that was pretty played out in most episodes and btw where is she? lol uhhh I dunno I still am completely in love with his character but am aching to see it played around with a bit more

I want Matt dead at the end of this season. I wanna see how Caroline takes it, cause I know she will get on, even though she deeply loves him. We all know she's one badass vampire and really strong - both mentally and physically. I don't think Matt's strong enough for her, he won't be able to understand. All this stuff with Vicki and all... Gosh, I hate her! But Tyler will (yes, my selfishness just took over. I do like Caroline & Tyler as a couple).

One of the great things about VD, is the fact that NO ONE seems to be safe from death . I love the fact that you can get attached to a character and then they die. Matt is the BIGGEST throwaway character in this show and I'm really hoping they kill him off soon . He serves no purpose in the show IMO. GREAT REVIEW.

I soooooo love the new video! Good job as always, btw! I hope Elena ends up with Damon, though there aren't signs of romantic connections between them. Maybe Katherine being there and in love with Stefan might make things difficult...the two may become friends, Elena might get gelous, and that's where Damon could interfere. Technically speaking, wasn't Stefan the pone who actually killed Vicki?
But anywhos, interesting theories. Can't say I agree with every one of them, but mostly I agree.
That last theory about the Salvatore Brothers working with Klaus-never will happen; that would just be too easy of an ending if everyone just suddenly buddied up.
Now, putting my Delena dreams aside, I don't see Kat really doing anything major with Stefan. HOWEVER, Kat influencing Damon is a different story.

(continued) Damon's character metamorphosis thing that's going on it becoming increasingly more evident. Yes, he's still an idiot who goes out every once in a while and kills some poor girl or provokes a werewolf. (Seriously, he's done that last one TWICE and it bit him in the rear both times.) But, not only is this not being provoked by those locked in emotions you know are bubbling like a volcano inside of him, but we not realize also that Stefan's gone through a similar cycle....

hmm...I'm not too set on Klaus having an alternate to the sacrifice just because he's been forcing witches to work on that for centuries now.
I still think as soon as he gets whiff of Elena he'll want to proceed as he was going to with Katherine, ergo I do not think Elena is anywhere near safe. Nevertheless I appreciate your many insights, there is indeed much to ponder during this mooooonth-long break!

I was hoping someone would turn Elena into a vampire if she tried to do the sacrifice... someone (and I was hoping it was Damon haha) would give her vampire blood before the sacrifice (without telling her, of course) and if Klaus killed her, she would come back from death... I mean, it's the perfect situation, plus that way she would remember what Damon said to her when he was with her necklace... I don't know if that would break the curse, but if it didn't then they should try the witch thing

I felt bad for Luka. Burning alive seems like a bad way to go. I'm also upset about Jonas' death. I was hoping Jonas would mentor her on witchcraft. And what about Greta. She gets free of Klaus only to discover her father and brother are both death. I have a theory. I haven't read the books but is it possible for a vampire to regain his/her humanity? Maybe John and Isobel wants Katherine human and then use her for the sacrifice. After all, Kat tried to kill John. He has to want revenge.

I want to see what Isobel does to John when she finds out he has taken Ric's ring. Isobel gave it to Ric to keep him safe and I don't think she is going to be happy. Maybe it is just a witch/warlock thing but seem they always blame someone else for their screw-up. Jonas sent Luka to his death and blames Damon and Stefan. Bonnie has messed up more than once and always blames Damon and Stefan. Love Damon telling Kat there are 6 other bedroom go find one.

I'm a hardcore Stefan/Elena fan, but I also love Stefan/Katherine. I think there's so much they can do with Stefan and Katherine, even if it is just Stefan eventually forgiving her a little.

Some of your theories made me think about some things.
I doubt Bonnie will die.I think that when Jonas grabbed her , he gave his powers to her.That way with some practise Bonnie would be able to handle it.
Klaus won't be easy to beat so probably he will be the main villain in season 3.
The episode was amazing.The only thing that bothered me was the lack of Delena..They better be preparing somthing epic for them at the finale!

@katelyn2100 Some of my favorite scenes in episode 16 were the scenes with Damon and Katherine. There is definitely still a cat and mouse game being played, and these two have so much chemistry together it isn't funny (not that I'm hoping they end up together). Also Caroline's decision to tell Matt, and both of them freaking out in the end. ;-)

I loved this episode!!! it was absolutely awesome. I loved Beremy! so cute =). even though i wish tyler would come back and swoop caroline away, i still thought that matt and caroline were the cutest thing EVER, and caroline has a great singing voice. Not happy about the lack of delena, not sure exactly were they are going with them. Hopefully the tables will turn and there will be some development between those two and katherine and stefan. I loved this episode so much, it had everything you could want! The only thing I have to really complain about is that I really don't want Jenna or Matt to know about the vampires!!! There have to be some main characters that don't know, which makes their characters much more interesting...Best quote of the episode, Damon: “There are six other bedrooms in this house,Go find one.” EPIC!

this review is so cool ... my favorite scenes in this episode was the ones between Damon / Katherine ... the Nina/Ian chemistry is just undeniable <3 ..oh and btw I noticed that you kristen resemble hilly hindi from The HillyWood show :3

I loved the episode and your review of it.
Frankly, last couple of episodes before this one seemed a bit dull and just building up episodes for the ones to come and I was getting a bit bored with the entire thing. So glad I stuck by it.
Loved the scene where Kat fights the invisible worlock kid throwing herself on the moving dagger! Have to give props to Nina Dobrev again cause I can't remember any other episode where there were so many Kat/Elena interactions and she pulled them off greatly!

But that's my only complaint in what was a whirlwind of an episode. The awful news? No new Vampire Diaries until April 7. The silver lining to the news? Plenty of time to discuss whether Matt will come to grips with what he's learned... what the return of Isobel means... where the witch burial ground is located... how the team will kill Klaus. And anything else that is on your mind.

And then we get to Matt. Poor, confused, innocent, would-have-died-if-not-for-the-blood-of-his-vampire-girlfriend, Matt. I loved his reaction to Caroline's revelation, specifically the call back to Vicki. It makes perfect sense he'd be especially sensitive to the whole vampire thing.
It did feel cheap, however, that the show cut away in the middle of this pair's confrontation. Sort of a lame way to create a cliffhanger. Still, better than The Notebook.

Hmmm, what two locations now fit that bill? The Salvatore household and the Gilbert household. Come on in, Klaus, we'd love to show you around! Might those be the words of witch wisdom Jonas imparted to Bonnie? Lure Klaus in, do some serious spelling and take advantage of the way in which he and his son perished. Something to keep our eyes on, fans.

As for those poor witches... Luka and Jonas were great additions to the show and they left us at the perfect time, in the perfect way: via surprising deaths that will likely play a major role going forward. After all, the Gilbert journals spoke of a witch massacre in Mystic Falls, along with the super power one can derive from a witch burial ground. Or simply the site where a witch died in a violent manner.

Informed that Katherine truly didn't care if he died - nay, actually plotted his death! - it looks like Damon has finally gotten over his centuries-old crush. Way to go, D! Might his feelings for Elena actually dissipate now, though? Originally, at least, they were tied into her resemblance to Katherine.

She chose Stefan. For that reason, John gave Damon the dagger and Katherine never revealed to him the fate that would befall any supernatural who used it. Conceivably, if Katherine had selected to save Damon, John would have given Stefan the dagger... right? As Katherine herself joked earlier in the episode, likely as a wink to viewers: "So many rules. It's all very confusing." Where is all this going? With Isobel's arrival, it's difficult to say. But one thing is for certain:

Later, of course, we learned a lot more about Katherine's scheming and her true reasoning for sticking around. I had to rewind her rundown of the deal with John to Damon, but as I best understand it:He showed up at the tomb at the conclusion of "Daddy Issues" and told Katherine he and Isobel wanted the Salvatores out of Elena's life. Katherine could assist. In exchange for helping them kill Elijah, she could save one brother.

The episode wasted no time getting into the action, as we opened on Katherine inside the Salvatore mansion, Damon explaining how she escaped the tomb and Katherine trying to explain why: she wants Klaus dead. She knows what he looks like, she knows where he is, they need her.Don't you just hate it when black bra-donning, 500-year old, diabolical vampires are right?

This is like a horror movie. - My sister, seconds after jumping approximately six inches off the couch following Jonas' last-breath grab of Bonnie.It's hard to come up with a better way to describe "The House Guest," as it packed violent deaths, a roaring fire, shocking admissions and a surprise return into just one hour.

It seems that the whole world is against the Salvatore brothers. I wonder now that Matt knows about Caroline being a vampire what he will do or what will Caroline allow him to do since she has the ability to compel and make him forget. But I am glad he finally found out. Maybe Matt will become a major character in the upcoming episodes.

And the whole thing with the witch cemetery, maybe that is why Luka’s dad was collecting all those spell books from other witches, because he knew he wouldn't be strong enough with out them inorder to do what he was going to do with Elijah.

I don’t think that Bonnie is going to kill Klus. I think she just has the information to do so, but she wouldn’t be the one to do it. Maybe if her cousin Lucy comes back like she said she would in the Masquerade episode, she would be the one to do it. Given that she is stronger and more experience in the magic department.

Once again, i loved this episode. I think showing Damon rejecting Katherine showed how much his feelings have grown for Elena now as opposed to the beginning of the season. I know it wasn't their intenion, but it was a little merciful for Katherine to kill Dr. Martin because he lost his son and his daughter. This doesn't seem to be very important, but i'm very interested in this daughter, i think something will be important about her. All in all, loved this episode as always <3 :)

This episode had so much going on. Did not expect both warlocks to die. Hope Elijah returns to help against Klaus. Also, Caroline needs to compel Matt to forget because he will not be able to forgive vampires for what happened to his sister. I also think Bonnie may be the one to die at the end of this season because all that witchcraft will be too much for one person unless her female relative, from the mascerade ball, returns to help. Great review as always.:)

I'm so dedicated to this show, but I'm more dedicated to Damon and Elena and it's kind of upsetting that they're not exploring more of that storyline. I hope that in the process of all these story lines coming to an end, they'll find some way to give us some Delena fans hope... *crossing fingers* 41 days to go!

Episode 216 was heart pounding at some scenes. i have to say one of the best eps. of this season so far.i agree with you on katherine and that hopefully she doesn't keep pretending she's elena.matts reaction threw me didn't see him seeing the connection with vicki, vampires and then connecting although wrongly with caroline. Loved your review. can't wait for new eps in april. but the wait i'm sure well be worth it.

Your review was great, 1 I think Caroline can't compele Matt bc Stephan is keeping him on verbain so that she wouldnt b tempted to bite him. 2 i think Matt should be compeled though, bc i dont think he would forgive the vampires for what happened to Vicky, & I really can't remember if he thinks she is out of town, or if she is dead they found her body, right? I think Bonnies cousin from masc Ball should return 2 help her. Shouldnt vamps b able 2 tell from human Elena Smell from vamp Kat smell?

@20cosmogirl I believe that was what he said beginning of season 2.. on the episode that Tyler threw that party in the woods, Caroline was a new vamp and under Stephans watch, Caroline and Matt got friendly in the Woods and Caroline started attacking Matt.. anyway Stephan pulled her off and i believe he said he will keep him on vervain so that she wont be tempted to do it again.

I really hope matt and caroline sort things out, i think she will just tell him that damon killed her. I think bonnie may come really close to dying, because elena said to her stuff about him having a lot of hurt after losing so many people and maybe thats foreshadowing something bad happening to her (i just hope she doesn't die) maybe the salvatore's could give her some blood before she does the sacrafice alternative and even if she dies she will still come back

and sadly, seeing as though Elijah's whole purpose on this show, as it seems, is to kill Klaus, so unfortunately I think Klaus and Elijah will wind up killing eachother at the end, because again, he will have served his purpose.

no its not because she's stupid, it's because she's creating a master plan. She wouldn't have made Elijah give his word and then stake him in the end of The Dinner Party if there wasn't a reason to. I think that she is going to leave that stake in him for now because she doesn't want him calling the shots anymore and then when it is time (when Klaus shows up) Elena will take out the dagger, have a little friendly talk with Elijah, and have him get rid of Klaus.

And i do believe that Bonnie will be the one to die because her grandmother did tell her in Season1 that she saw her having a young death. If damon and bonnie work together, what will elena think when she does die, will she blame either herself or Damon? And i still believe that Klaus will compel someone (potentially one of the Salvatore Brothers) to do something against their will and it may have to deal with Elena.

But the writiers probably won't bring back the tension damon feels about his love for elena until the situation with Klaus is under control and gone forever because his main priority now is to keep elena safe so all feelings are in the back burner for now. And hopefully in season 3 or 4 we will see Elena start to question herself about the feelings she has for Damon.

there use to be but now it's all down hill for the both of them. In an interview wih Ian, he stated that you would think once you let out your feelings of love toward someone it would be much easier to deal with, but he has informed us that it will only get worse for Damon in relations to how he feels for Elena, that eventually (hopefully not too long, but i don't want it to be too soon) he's is going to explode and the truth will be revealed.

Elijah has given his word to elena so even when he does com back from being "dead' he can't hurt them. And i absolutely loved the scene between Damon and Katherine in his bedroom because Kat is always using Damon's past feelings for her against him, but now she's starting to realize that those feelings are no longer there and that's because he's found his true love :) :(.

Don't forget Elijah and Elena made a deal where he said he wouldn't hurt any of them. But still, he will "hurt" Elena by trying to sacrifice her eventually. Bonnie right now scares the crap out of me, she knows how kill Klaus, but why is she spilling the secrets to Jer Bear when he's Elena's brother? Oh Bonnie, keep that stuff to yourself.

Great review! I loved this episode, I just hate that we have to wait until April to see the next episode: / I actually started liking Katherine in this episode.. one of my favorite parts was the scene where her and Damon have that little slap fight when Katherine goes to touch the book and Damon slaps her hand haha :)
