Mufflers do as the name suggest; they muffle the sound of the motor. Flowmasters are just a brand of mufflers. If you want a vehicle to be louder you run open headers. Different mufflers have different muffling properties via muffler construction, (Signle chamber vs dual chamber vs glasspack ect.) look it up on Google if you want to learn more.
That's a loaded question, shop around a bit to find what you want. Dynomax Bullets, Flowmasters 40's or Super 40's for deeper tone, Cherry Bombs glasspacks, Cherry Bombs extreme. Or if you're going for a richer tone you cant go wrong with Borla mufflers. All depending on which one catch's your ear. Check out my 95 Silverado, I have a cat converter with no mufflers, it sounds good.
so thats when your exhaust was first put on .. did it get louder after the like "breakin "? haha and your truck is sexyyyy you should look for a off centre rim ! standard tops it off , i gotta 1975 3/4 ton 4x4 standard truck , all original paint with a 6 inch lift and its MINT i love it a lot
Oh yes the mufflers got louder and developed more of a attack tone now that they are broken in, it sounds sweet. And nice man, take care of your Truck!
I think so but I'm not completely certain, I think it was a swap from a 73-74 3/4 ton axle, since the drums use 13 inch pads, but I'm not sure. I don't think it has a locking rear dif. either
Yeah, I just changed the rear pads/cylinders last summer since the driver side started leaking. That ended up leading to a new master cylinder later, pain in the ass lol
Hahaha, what can I say, I was extremely pleased with the work, and it was still shiny so I had to show it off a lil with the camera lol, and thanks haha
Love the sound! Is this with or without cat? I'm excpecting to put some Flowmaster 40's on my 74 Monte Carlo that has a true dual exhaust wihtout cat. I hope it will sound as good as yours.
I have a 1972 chevy truck and im a put hooker headers super comps. you think i should weld the headers and the pipe together or just bolt the collecters on?
No just bolt them on, if your exhaust pipes ever rust out, or if you want to replace your headers, its good to be able to have your setup removable from that location. Make sure the pipes after the collectors all the way out are welded together to prevent leaks, but I would not recommend welding the collectors to the exhaust pipes. As long as your not taking the pipes off from the collectors a lot the seals will hold forever.
Nice set up, I going to put a set of thrush turbos on my truck, you can check out the vid I posted or I could send it to you, but that is with straights no cats.
I'm contemplating it, I might put some 295's instead of the 265's and see how much lift I get with that, I want to avoid a body lift if possible. Thanks for the comment!

Does modifying the muffler exhaust, do any changes to the fuel milage?
speedyrik 1 year ago
Depends on what you're doing. Usually a less restrictive exhaust leads to better airflow and better mileage if you don't have a lead foot like me.

hey man I have a question,I'm 16 and just starting to get into cars, what exactly do flowmasters do to a car?Do they just make it sound louder?

Its quite alright, the common reference to these trucks are usually the "C10 models" so its alright lol

yeah, thats definetly a 14 bolt ff, then if its got 13 drums, chevys brakes have always been crap.

Thanks man, let me know if you put a video of yours up! And yes, not cat converters (historic tags) on this truck.
JetForceF22 3 years ago
Yes I will put some videos as soon as it's done. I'm also expecting to get some hooker headers. Take care of your Cheyenne.
muscle1983 3 years ago
You know it, I got some old headman long tube headers, there a bit old but they do the job right.

Normally Flowmasters don't sound that good, I prefer Magnaflow but that sounds awesome. It must be the motor, I love the sound of a carbed V8.
