He's empowered and is some type of musical God I believe. I was about 12 first hearing this and WOW..... Carlos has got to be divinely empowered! We all know that.... the sensual touch his lead guitar emanates. Like I said, empowered baby! CARLOS BABY!!!!!!!!
This has everything I love about Santana encapsulated in one track: latin groove, fiery guitar playing, Gregg Rollie's organ playing and great melodies to with it.
@adam872 Ya, it's definitely one of the best jamming 'lost' Santana songs around. I haven't heard him play this live ever and I've seen Santana 8 times. From 1977 til 2009. I'd love to hear him play this live sometime bcz this song is the essence of Carlos. Totally. Lead guitars, keys, congero, killer bass riff and that unique Latin/Santana sound!!! Me gusta loud!
how many times between houston and san antonio at 2 in the morning in the early 70's slip this in the 8 track, crank it up and fly down I 10 and 160mph...good days
These were my days coming up in San diego...this music live back then was the serious SHIT. I'm alve to tell you he was the biggest thing happening back then... made it rain at woodstock, what I'm saying is to those that were not experirnced...Carlos was what was was! : )
@key2kingdom N. Schon is better than Santana on the guitar. Just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, Carlos was my idol in the late 60's and 70's and created SANTANA , butspeed and talent goes to Neal.
My parents used to listen to this song a lot when I was a kid. I can't decide which one is my favorite:this one or Body Surfing. My favorite part of the song? From 0:01-1:13. I get lost in that part man, that guitar rift kicks ass....and so does all of the percussion throughout the song.
grew up playing this song with friends of mine in a band. THis is the kind of song that everyone plays in a trance like state. I spiritually blend with this song especially when he lays on the wah-wah pedal. It is amazing to listen to and fun to play
This is from back when album covers and the music it contained was art. Now it's a picture of the pop star's face and the album name.

@sledj567 Agreed. I love Abraxas and Caravanserai, but Santana III has all the best guitar solos.

Neal Schon's fiery solo at 2:14 is the high point of this tune, thumbs up if you agree!
