Very, very old military tradition. Armed forces in general are known for tradition and customs like these.

Well it was a long time ago. I was in the 2nd barracks from the rear gate, that is if there still there. Is that ol run down whore ville still there? I used to hang out at a place called the venus club. $5.00 fucks. I hear the field arty is not there anymore ? Was on the 105's airmoble B 1/15 FA. Anyway, You guys are doing a good job. Keep it up. Thats not Camp Stanley. I was there in 76-77 and B 1/15 FA 2nd ID had flag detail in 77. I was the flag pole operator.

I fired the cannon for this ceremony during the 6 months of spring and summer 2002-03. I see now, they've taken the cannon out. It's a shame, but I can understand why.
