I first heard this tune on Billy Faier's 1957 album, "The Art of the Five String Banjo." I liked it so much that I bought an old banjo at a yard sale just so I could learn it. Billy says it's a banjo tune, but I think it's an old guitar tune played well back into the 19th century. No version I've heard is more simple, pure, or moving than this one. What a beauty. Thank you for sharing it! For those of you who'd like to try learning it from this video, try this tuning: D,G,D,G,B,D.
Very good sir. My Mom taught me to play that when I was a youngster.She played it like that but my rendition isn't near as good. I play by ear so I will watch this over and try to learn the right way. Good job.
