Hedgehogs are about $100-$500 from the prices I saw while I was searching for my hedgie, the cheapest I saw was $95 and most expensive was around $525. Luckily, I found my 10 month old at the local humane society :)

@Henrietta20 Actually, hedgehogs don't hurt you because their spines are small and smooth. You're probably thinking of porcupines. Those suckers will stab you.

@istoleyourshiny In defense mode the quills are very sharp, and its extremely painful to pick them up. In first few weeks of owning one, when they are still scared of you, it'll be painful. But once they get to know you they rarely do that and then they are easy to play with when they aren't grumpy xD(Defense mode being, they go into the ball and you can't even see their face, and the quills are sticking out perfectly. Not to be confused with the cute ball look they do when on their back)

So don't call me a freak, every day I'm confronted with animals that are thrown away like trash. African Pygmy Hedgehogs can get 5-8 years old in captivity. So please be aware in your decision to get one as a pet. This vid is 2 years old so I'm eager for a new vid from Henrietta to see how she's doing.

Im not an animal freak or nature maniac. Remember the Dalmation dog and the Owl from Harry Potter or those tiny Chihuahua dogs or piglets (yes mummy, just like Paris Hilton). I work in an animal chelter and now the animal chelters are overcrowded with them. We get calls from people who find them in containers and whaistebins.

A Pygmee Hedgehog isn't a PET TOY. You ignorent USA people, You don't ask a pet (any pet!) for Christmas. And a hedgehog belongs in nature not in a house. Being molested (that's what you all are doing, even if you don't think you are!) by their owners. They should sue you for this! Perhaps I will! It is illegal to own a hedgehog as a pet in some US states.

it's illegal in california and arkansas "maybe utah" because of the area... but yeah they aren't toy's I agree with you with that but pets are pets because you take care of them... and enjoy their presence and if you take care of them right they enjoy it too... but for you to say what belongs in nature or not then why not break down your house and recycle it into the earth... because your entire daily life is NOT natural... therefore... what is natural must coexist with the unnatural!

African Pygmy Hedgehogs are hybrids that never lived in nature to begin with so by sending them into this"wilderness" you speak of would only kill them. These are not like your Eurohogs at all.

Please get educated on hedgies before yelling at people about things you know nothing about.
