  • even though born and bread a north londoner do like looking at these old pics of liverpool ans seeing it then.cheers for the download

  • @spiritoveradversity1

Quite a few buildings are still there.

Particularly the ones in the city centre. Ranleigh street is the same.

Vernon's is still standing and was supposed to be turned into Apartments But I don't think it happened.

Doubt they will knock It down as it's listed I think.

    Great pictures of my city.

  • what is the name of the song?

  • @fairycarillon The song is 'In My Life' by the Beatles

  • Lovely little video, nice selection of photos, one thing I notice most in the street scenes is how clean everywhere looks, do any of the buildings shown hear still survive ? (particularly the VERNONS pools building)

  • all taken over by pakis now

  • great vid, thanks so much.

  • Fantastic video

  • Nice to see my old school still with intact hall on 01:42 to the left the Liverpool Collegiate. The building that looks like a castle down the bottom of the streeet. 1979 I was there.

  • very nice city

  • Very well made

  • Love this video. Brings back memories of my mum, and her stories. Her family lived on Kirkdale road. She emigrated in 1959, but visited home (Liverpool) in 1965 with my brother Phillip and me (not born yet) in April 1965. I was born May 1965 at Walton Hospital. It's liking seeing her hometown through her eyes. Thank you!

  • Great video mate

  • I was born in liverpool in a terrace house in 1958 emigrated in 1964 so I can actually put myself in most of these pictures. And I can actually see where mum and dad grew up! Thankyou so much.

  • Glad you enjoyed it Brian.........

  • I used to have my haircut at this barbers and delivered papers for whiteheads next door

  • Brilliant stuff, thanks for posting.

  • My Grandparents came come Lancashire, my grandmother from Liverpool, I have had a fascination for the place for a long time, but have yet to visit. I hope one day to take my wife there.

  • Love it, I now live on Shaw Street in a terrace which has been renovated!

  • Thankyou so much for putting this together, It's funny how when I look at these pictures that the first thought in my head is "yep, that's right, that matches the picture in my head" almost like recharging your own memory. Whatever it is, it feels great to look at them. There is something really special about Liverpool that even outsiders recognise. Thankyou again.

  • Thanks for your kind comments, makes the time and effort all worthwhile.... thank you

  • The Dogs

  • Ace mate. Like a journey back into Paradise (street) !

  • north south east or west ! its all our homes where we live and rest .. no north and south to divide no east or west is the best . religions and faiths all past by we will meet our makers in the sky!

  • Thanks for this! Been a good few years since I was in my hometown of Liverpool and I prefer to remember her as she was - dignified and just a great place to live. I enjoyed seeing the photo of the Brittanic - my grandad was Chief Engineer on her for a few years and he took me on board to see her when she came back to Liverpool to be scrapped.

  • Excellent Post Peter.

  • Thank You

  • Meaningless to anyone not from Liverpool but I just love it !

  • Fuck that's brilliant, so many memories. I wish somebody had some pictures of the neon "Post it to Vernons," lights which animated a man posting his football coupon.

Absolutely loved that thanks so much, fuck me I wish I was back there.
