@zaxle12 You are of course absolutely right that huadan role refers to a young vivacious (even flirtatious) lady, and that qinyi refers to a virtuous lady. Teochew opera afficionados made an even finer differentiation - 'oh sah' (black robe in Teochew language) a lady performer who always do the role of a long-suffering virtous lady (like the lady in this video) !!
The female lead is not a 'huadan'. She is a 'qingyi'. 'Huadan' usually refers to vivacious young lady.

It was a wonderful show! Great acting by all the leads, especially the main huadan. Audiences were moved to tears at parts.
