Yes, it's a tragedy, but it is also about the irresponsibility of the Albanian government, the US contractor, and the US government which claimed it could not intervene to stop the complete looting of munitions depots back in 1997, resulting in 1000s of victims of the civil war, and the transfer of weapons to the KLA in Serbia.
What will be interesting is whether the EU and NATO support the typically Albanian "legal" solution to avoid a major civil lawsuit from the victims : refuse the case.

Yes, it's a tragedy, but it is also about the irresponsibility of the Albanian government, the US contractor, and the US government which claimed it could not intervene to stop the complete looting of munitions depots back in 1997, resulting in 1000s of victims of the civil war, and the transfer of weapons to the KLA in Serbia.
What will be interesting is whether the EU and NATO support the typically Albanian "legal" solution to avoid a major civil lawsuit from the victims : refuse the case.

No im talking about military facts here, on the yugoslav-albanian border, 12.000 troops tried to get into kosovo, they had help from NATO aviation, but they still didn't manage to break the Serbian lines, so NATO concentrated their bombs on civilians since they only had destroyed 1.6% of the Yugoslav army. I'm not biased, I've tried to find correct info from all sides and thats the truth.

But let's recall historical reality. The US and NATO refused to issue a peacekeeping mission to Albania and confiscate weapons in 1997, and the reasons for that are perfectly clear. The UN is obligated to resolve Albania's role in supporting aggression.

It's very fair to speculate on the involvement of the US military in connection to this matter. As I said, it's 2008, the weapons were looted in 1997. What's changed you might ask? The following: the US (and 26 vassals including Albania) recognise the unilateral declaration of DEPENDENCE issued by the KLA leader Thaci, and according to US law, the second Albanian pseudo-state is eligible to receive NATO arms donations to replace the looted 1997 weaponry.

Albanian Army weapons were *completely* looted in 1997 when the Albanian state, thanks to George Soros' pyramid schemes (what a great humanitarian) collapsed. Many weapons were transferred to Albanian terrorists in the neighbouring Serbian province of Kosovo, who soon after started a terrorist war. Irresponsibility, and poverty are not excuses however. Albania, such as it is, not only provided bases to the KLA, but also visible means of support while refusing to secure borders.

There is really nothing new here, as civilians constantly fall victim to the irresponsibility of the so-called government in the so-called "state" of Albania - every day. al-Jazeera is very disappointing in trying to pretend that oh yes, Albania is a country, and putting a munitions disposal plant in the midst of a civilian area is perfectly in accord with the norms of most countries. Also, it is very important to explain that a large part of the ordinance was looted in 1997. It's 2008 now.
