I've learned this – my biggest problem was getting too emotional to sing.
Also heard Eric do it in concert. He prefaces it with a story about visiting the graves in France and how the feeling that he got was one of anger – the diggers anger at the waste of their lives, and how the dead there thought their efforts were in vain.
The best thing about Eric's anti-war songs IMHO is that they condemn war – but still have a lot of sympathy for the poor bugger who's fighting – often not by choice.
they send working class kids to kill working class kids thats how the game works my friend and these kids have more in common with each other than with the crooks who send them .....people really need to question whats going on but but of course this will never happen its so easy to fool the masses with propaganda but all you have to do is follow the money trail and you will find the culprits.....oil building contracts arms sales .....please dont be fooled and open your eyes.....
This is truly a most beautiful version of Eric singing "No Man's Land". I've seen him in concert numerous times singing this song and it never fails to give me chills. I really believe that folks should always listen to the songwriter's version before they compare it to any other version. This cannot be topped by anyone. Unfortunately I heard that Eric is no longer touring the U.S.
@rinceseit I believe that Eric has stopped all touring outside Australia after what has been a very hectic schedule over the years. If I was a betting man though I would put money on the quiet life being too quiet and seeing him back on the road!! I hope so anyway!!
This is probably Eric's most covered song. Even more than "The Band Played ...". It is also one of his early ones. He did a sequel some 30 years later (also on the DVD). Another early, equally profound song is Singing The Spirit Home which closes the DVD. It is also the title song of an early album and the name given to his "Best of" collection of 5 CD's. Don't stop at the early ones though - he is still writing profound music.
Such a classic

NOT my most favourite version, but the purist might prefer this.
Whatever the version, the song is truly one of the GREAT anti war song, so not liked by Zionists or their ilk.
