  • just realise, frederico moreno torroba lives for 101 years...

means he gets to see how far has guitar playing evolve...

i wonder what he feels :D

  • Fantastico !!!

  • Hello, i just wanted to stop by and ask a very importent question in my life.. would this song fit this following direction?

*************preludes, theme and variations or sonatas by Sor, Giuliani, Ponce, Torroba, Turina, Villa-Lobos, Brouwer or similar level***********

ill be auditioning for classical guitar and i was wondering if this question could be answered.. thanks

  • Andres, thank you for being here on earth with us. You have accompanied the lives of so many of us with the perfect and above all very, very individual sound of your guitar and how you played it. What a dreary moment it was for me, to see your guitar standing there alone in that glass cupboard in Madrid (on a photo). I hope you enjoy to see so many young guitarists growing up with the wonderful master pieces, that you've brought to us. You are still the great nestor guitar professor! Thanks!

  • Segovia, my guitargod!

  • Que viva el Español y la Guitarra Española!!!

  • My teacher used to show us this...

  • Grande Segovia*+* grande mestre do violão!!!!

  • La verdad que es una interpretación de un maestro pero personalmente que la estoy tocando ahora, la primera parte no me gusta tan rápida...Que grande era Segovia....esa mano derecha le delataba....

  • this is beautiful

  • Segovia is the greatest guitarist ever. Even Jimi Hendrix can't compare.

  • @XxVikingxXxMetalxX sorry to tell you this but jimi hendrix really isnt that good of a guitarist......

ever heard of yngwie malmsteen or steve vai?

  • @joelakastud123 Really, they're not that good either.

  • @raizumichin ..........i already know their fast but they dont play with "feel" therefore all their technical skill after years and years of constant practice and excess skill means nothing

yeah yeah yeah ive heard it a 1000 times from you dick riders dont be an ass licker you know hendrix sucked most kids playing for 2 years play better than he ever did

  • @joelakastud123 No, I agree that "feeling" is a crap argument, an attempt to make a personal preference into an actual metric. But it's not just about playing, it's about writing and most shredders are still way behind the likes of Hendrix, not to mention the classic masters like Andres Segovia, Paco diLucia and Narciso Yepes.

But given how personal you've already taken this with your insecure insults, i suspect that is right over your head.

  • @raizumichin by the love of god by steve vai? or anything performed in the orchestra suite by yngwie malmsteen? there is no way you have paid any attention to their work to be saying this!

  • @joelakastud123 I have, actually. Yngwie's songwriting is a joke, he's been playing the same minor melodic scales and diminished arpeggios since 1983. Steve Vai is a bit better, taking some cues from his teacher (the inimitable Frank Zappa), but he's still pretty limited in his scope. Virtually all shredders focus on playing a very narrow aspect of guitar music really fast instead of developing any form of vocabulary. It's like a painter bragging about using more red than anyone else.

  • @raizumichin music is very subjective. I totaly understand what you mean with Yngwie. Even though he is like that i mean for me i still get a good kick out of him every once and a while. On the other hand i would say steve vai is one of the best electric guitarists ever. Music doesn't always have to be completely something of this or that. I'm sure yngwie knows hes not been to innovative since when hes started but i don't think he wants to and its not the point. Music has different points

  • @Darthlisp I'll concede that Yngwie had a few good ideas back in 1984, but I found that they got boring pretty quickly even then. Vai has done more stuff, but for some reason it all fails to interest me. Like you said, it's all subjective.

  • superb

  • очень красиво

  • Andres segobia

  • Andres Segovia !! una autoridad en guitarra clasica !!

  • my grandpa plays classical guitar, and he's fine playing it, but when i show this video he was like... "damn son, now i'll never gonna play guitar because of this..."

  • anyone other than me love to see a damn great song with no emotion from the face of the guitarist ?

I don't know but I really feel that its only the Pro who do so

  • @almu6laq

it's called concentration, not lack of emotion :)

  • 0:51 - 0:57 is epic..... !!!

  • 58 personas aún suponen que el reggaetón es mejor que esto

  • Magnificent!!!

  • a few years back a person -called, i think, Sniffy , wrote that Segovia's guitar was out of tune -imagine-and that only he -meaning Sniffy- somehow heard this He had a website and played the ' Arab Caprice ' (Tarrega)- which was terrible an when i wrote back saying he didn't know what he was talking (and playing ) about he challenged me to a guitar duel .F'ing kids

  • Some say he was the greatest guitarist ever. If he's not, he'll do until that fellow comes along.

  • whats better than having andres segovia playing this beautiful piece by torroba

  • Houseofaction don't even put blues in the same sentence as Andre Segovia he could wipe the floor with any of the blues masters. Classical music is a genre of music above all others the skill and technique to play it far surpasses any other music type. I bet you worship clapton you tool

  • @pimpanopilis454

you should be a little nicer to people who think different. If you are going to hate their genre they wil hate outs. Keep that in mind a be a little bit nicer and you will see that people will accept classical music as well :)

    have a nice day

  • @pimpanopilis454 I was just enjoying this video when I made the mistake of encountering this comment. Why do people have to set up baseless competitions and comparisons? Segovia reads music well and Clapton improvises solos well. They are actually quite similar in the sense that they brought new musical styles to the attention of western-europe.

  • Perfect

  • what is the name of this song?

  • @blargarpdarp It is called Suite castellana: Fandanguillo.

  • Fantastico

  • Nice rare video footage here...enjoyed.

  • " Who Segovia? He's the grand daddy of us all" George Harrison of the Beatles

  • Unbelievable

  • i'm amazed at the number of anti-segovia posts all over the place. As if they have something personal to gain by bashing segovia.

Todays light bulbs are awesome, GE totally pwns Thomas Edison. Edison was garbage compared to today's 'green' light bulbs. Sounds completely ridiculous doesn't it? Guess what, all of you sound completely ridiculous too.

State your opinion, such as; I don't think segovia is as good as X player. Resorting to insults is a sign of a weak, sad, immature mind.

  • I read that Charo was a student of Andrés Segovia.

  • I read that Charo was one of his students.

  • the greatest among the greatest guitarist...

even those guitarists from the world hall of fame are no match against him...

  • im going to learn this one.

    anyone got tabs?

  • @Eddnatal

    Its called "notes".

  • Most beautiful interpretation I have heard

  • such stubby fingers, you'll never see him playing mandolin!

  • Lo mejor guitarrista del mundol, sin Don Segovia, no haria musica como esa. Viva Segovia y España

  • some one should write out a tab for 0:44-0:58

  • @ironman0594 Just copy his fingers. You can do it. Or take lessons and learn to read music as well as tab. Once you learn to read, playing gets way easier.

  • sueno muy bonito. me encanta la guitarra española - un del razones porque estoy aprendiendo español jeje!

  • 54 personas son retrasadas mentales

  • @Toledeadfreak i dont speak spanish, but i'm pretty sure I know what you said...

  • i looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove

  • Sogovia is the eternal master!

  • Un chitarrista passa metà della sua vita ad accordare lo strumento e l'altra metà a suonare scordato (Andrés Segovia)

  • this is the guy how thought jason becker's father :p

  • 54 earless F***ERS!! Can´t believe it...

  • Amazing panache and understanding of the Spanish sentiment.

It is the quality of his expression and spirit or "duende" that is

so remarkable. Someone else could play the same notes

and not communicate as deeply. Segovia know how to communicate

what was not written in the notes. The notes are only a map of the territory but not the territory. Also one must judge him in his prime not when he is of advanced age and weaker physically. The skin becomes thin with age and nails brittle.

    Not fair.

  • Segovia isn't someone I'd listen to on a regular basis, but he definitely is an amazing guitarist. My only problem is that classical is a little TOO subtle for me, and I can't understand why it would be. Why would you limit yourself in your expression for the sake of subtlety? When you're trying to express your soul, I don't think you should hold anything back, you know?

  • Search on youtube Michael angelo batio double guitar solo and let's start cry Segovia

  • @5stagionestefano I agree that Angelo has a lot of talent, though I don't think more than Segovia or any other classical virtuoso. The Angelo solo was fun, thank you for recommending it. I don't think that the two are comparable. Speed electric is sensory assaulting and full throttle; it feels good. Especially with the vol at 11 ;). I think that good classical is more moderated and profound. It's subtle and cerebral. If you're used to full force music, classical will be... boring.

  • @jdashe1672 I don't think that classical is boring, i appreciate all kinds of music; classical, blues, jazz, metal, progressive metal ecc. the important thing is that music should create an emotion (I'm sorry for my english, i'm italian) and you're right that Segovia and Batio are not musically comparable (i don't like Batio's music), but i was comparing them in technique and Batio is so much better than segovia and other classical guitar player. You can search Andy Mckee on youtube... Hi!!

  • @5stagionestefano You can`t compare the classical guitar technique to electric guitar technique.... give Segovia a electric guitar and give batio a classical guitar and they will both be completely useless.... there both masters at what they do... (sorry for english)

  • @DsilverF no man they are both guitars ..imagine segovia with an electric guitar man it would be as great as classical guitar :D ..its not the guitar its the player

  • @Hacker2090 they may be both guitars but they still are completely different instruments. the shape, the neck size, the strings.... dont go give segovia a pick cause he wont know what to do with it. Also, segovia would have never touched an electric guitar anyways... he hated it.

  • @DsilverF john williams played electric :D then segovia could to :D ... but anyway your right :D

  • This man is a classical guitar demi-god!! dislike??? How is that even possible??? R.I.P.

  • wow all that with just 6 strings.

  • I like the vid - nice upload

shame about the whinge whinge whinge whinge..." i cant believe people dislike this.... blah blah blah"

    Shut it!

  • Ive come to the conclussion that it doesnt matter what it is: piano, guitar, drums and so on..however good somebody is at it doesnt matter.. theres ALWAYS gonna be somebody pushin the dislike button. Ive listened to countless masters play perfectly on utoob and nevertheless theres usually '50 dislikes' or similar. I try not to notice because I start thinkin whats wrong with these people, but..who knows?

  • Some people (51 exactly...) don`t know how to appreciate the magnificent way to play the guitar like this, and with a Master like Andres Segovia, pff..., It would be fair that Tremolino sell tickets to us to watch the video d=

  • He's really great! I love the way he played.

  • this is absolutely monsterous

go to his asturias vid and troll all the morons spamming the vid with comments comparing hendrix(yeah i said hendrix) to him like 13 year old stoner idiots

  • Who said you need long fingers to play guitar ;)

  • @Gyperboloid yep.. who said you need long fingers to play the guitar.... all you need is a pack of sausages

  • The way he plays this piece is totally incredible. I fell in love instantly and did not rest until I could play it by heart. But then i started caring about how to play it and had a look on the video again. And what i realized in that moment was the pure and unlimited power in his interpretation. Never ever again anyone will play this in the way he does. Segovia's interpretation is a thousand times more energetic as any other guitarist's could ever be. Do not ask why... just listen.

  • My uncle was taught by him and toured with him. When ever my uncle gives me guitar advice he would say "Segovia always said". Great guitarist. One of the best there was, both past and present.

  • thats the best thing 10 sausages have ever done

  • 50 prepubescent wanna-bes were expecting Eddie VanHalen.

  • 49 of the people that disliked this have no musical talent and deserve to die. Horribly.

  • @Nickn00bslayr .. what about the other guy. is he let off?

  • @JaguarEarlobe He gets hung by his balls.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nickn00bslayr hahahahaha XDDD

  • @Nickn00bslayr hahahahahahaha XDDDD

  • And Obviously All This Lacks Of Music Education

I Bet They Listen Justin Bieber And Jonas Brothers....

  • @Nickn00bslayr Woah - chill out. Die horribly??

  • @Nickn00bslayr i bet much more people don't have musical talent but still love listening to music.

  • @Nickn00bslayr

    LMAO!

Usually people say stuff like "49 people are descendents of Smortopians" or something that tries to be witty, but you were straight to the point.

  • what's the name of this piece?

  • People always show all comments, but they must first perform something for yourself and adhere to their comments. This man was one of the largest in the world maybe now he has proven THE grootste.Dat you nog.peter

  • Rock is really not that great. I played in a death metal band. And this by far, is much more fun to listen to and play. Go classical guitar. I just learned the Suite Castellana.

  • This song just seems far too short. It should go on forever.

  • really like this piece..learned it from this clip-great audio makes it easy to hear everything..not difficult but a(gorguous)piece.

  • grandioso il maestro segovia... un esecuzione magistrale

  • dislikes have to be non musicians and morons. even a casual music buff would know this is greatness

  • E' uguale a Lele Mora xD

  • Visit Granada in Spain and you'll find out where this inspiration comes from... I'm from Barcelona and I've just returned from there ('ve spent 4 days there), and since that I love Flamenco and gypsy music sooo much. So nice, trust me

  • super wonderful

  • Just wonderful amazing great no words for it

  • Just wonderful amazing great no words for it

  • Everytime I'm about to practice classical guitar, I listen to this for inpiration. So... very guitarish!! :D

  • sweet song, soothing, compelling folk to classic Andalusian, perhaps with Moorish roots

  • My brother Markus Bott had been tortured during 5.5 years by the German BND,the former GESTAPO. I recorded more than 100 videotapes which ended up in the legal system. My brother was tortured during 1.5 years despite several legal procedures pending. He was assassinated on July 11th 2009 because of our homepage, linked on my channel, and our book Der Totalitäre Staat. If my homepage disappears, the BND will have assassinated me as well

Thumbs up if you want the BND to stop torturing my parents

  • aun que no lo crean, mi abuelo es manuel Perez Segovia, Andres sogovia es el abuelo de mi abuelo ...

  • Ok, 49 dislikes? How? HOW? HOW!? HE'S THE FATHER OF THE GUITAR

  • @axlslash808z I really do think some people do click the wrong button by accident. Impossible to click the dislike, ya know? :)

  • @axlslash808z

Members of the Taliban or people who have lost fingers in

    machinery?

  • @axlslash808z Its 50 bro, learn to count.

  • @ultimatequix It was 49 two months ago, so...yeah...

  • @ultimatequix Its 51 BRO learn to count !!!

  • some people cant handle real genius

  • @axlslash808z How? Pure IGNORANCE! (Gone to seed.) And they are putting it on display for all of us to see! Like someone saying Michael Jordan can't play basketball. They are the only ones who can't see how STUPID they sound, while every one else can.

  • @axlslash808z Indeed, he is the father of the clasical guitar as a concert instrument...

  • @axlslash808z Some people just don't like anything.

  • @axlslash808z so what he is thousands of years old

  • @houseofaction Age don't matter, he'd still kick ur ass if he was alive.

  • @axlslash808z i wasnt saying he was a thousand years old i was saying so what he is thousands of years old. as in so what is he a thousand years old. if he is the father of guitar then he must be..

i was mocking you for saying such an absurd statement. many guitarists came before him and are a thousand times better then him . and no he couldnt kick my ass. i would destroy him

  • @houseofaction Fucker was born in 1890 something, he was as old as shit, mozart, bach were composers not guitarist, he was the undisputed father of guitar, the guitar might not have been as popular as it became without him, end of story.

  • @axlslash808z where did i mention mozart or back? answer is nowhere. and i dont give a shit if he was born in 1890 infact he was born on feb 21 1893. and all he did was make classical guitar more popular. nothing more.

  • @houseofaction Not classical guitar, the idea of the guitar itself, the instrument became a shitlot more popular through him, nothing less.

  • @axlslash808z that is horribly incorrect he didnt even preform outside of europe until 1928. blues was already a widly popular genre by then guitarists like blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House, Robert Johnson, and Lonnie Johnson were the influential performers of the day. andres was widly known in spain and europe for his classical guitar. but much of the world didnt know who he was. until years later most of his influence was on classical music many people still dont know who he was. cont

  • @axlslash808z cont. my father who has been playing the guitar for 56 years didnt even know who andres segovia was. his father and mother both played the guitar and they didnt know who he was. and by simple facts that blues guitar was already well known and liked before andres segovia ever preformed in america is proof that his inlfuence was on classical not guitar as a hole

  • @houseofaction Don't know who Andres is and you play guitar, how dare! Well i guess i can't judge and im fatigued from arguing already, at least you aren't assholing like one guy i know. Yeah i was just playing the ass game a little, segovia pretty much is father of classical guitar but he did have an impact on guitar itself is all i try to say, i apologize, haven't had my snickers yet.

  • @axlslash808z all i am saying is there is no proof he had any significant influence on mainstream guitar most mainstream guitarists have not heard of andres. and the fact that guitar jazz guitar was already very popular before he even left europe. he might have influenced guitarists such as yngwie malmsteen who mix classical with rock to create neo classical guitar but thats about it. and on top of that in my opinion most people who know of andres wouldnt if the internet didnt exist

  • @houseofaction yeah, i heard of him through my teacher

  • @axlslash808z that supports my theory that most people dont know who he is

  • @houseofaction How do you know him?

  • @axlslash808z youtube never heard of andres before youtube

  • @houseofaction That confuses me greatly, ummm...

  • @axlslash808z how does that confuse you greatly

  • @houseofaction Umm,.. can i have another clue?

  • 49 dislikes, all of them must be able to do it better than Maestro Segovia, ja ja ja (i am laughing in spanish)

  • he hit esteban wen he was drunk

  • seriously... how can someone dislike this???

    are you deaf???

  • segovia hes alot of power with his playing i like it/ bravooooo

  • El Maestro, BRAVO!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i gather lots of influence from this video and this man, i am eternally greatful

  • What a god,R.I.P sir!

  • If you are a fan of guitar driven music, be it rock, metal, whatever you owe this man many thanks. He brought the out of obscurity with his adaptations.

  • @williamcuntsworth Segovia explicitly considered rock, metal, etc. as garbage, which it mostly is. Enough of this "he's the father of us all" nonsense. Segovia was a great musician, not a ridiculous noisemaker who needed band buddies, amps, etc. to make music .

  • @FrankGrigonis Listen douche, your retarded opinion in no way dilutes the truth of my statement. Would you rather his music and influence be discarded altogether? Where would the guitar as an instrument be without Segovia's work? Just because he didn't care for rock does not mean he isn't or shouldn't be an influence to young musicians. It sounds like you adopted his opinion on modern music to make yourself seem cooler, FAIL. BTW I never claimed him to be a father of us all. Douche.

  • @williamcuntsworth Segovia had no respect for noisemakers, people who permanently damage kids' ears with large amps, etc. Please read his own quotes. He also had no respect for those who reduced the guitar from a polyphonic instrument into a "lead" or "rhythm" instrument. I mean no disrespect to you or you opinions or even your music. Yes, It was Harrison who said, "He's the father of us all." That's not true though; the guitar was a source of "noisy amusement" (Segovia) before Segovia.

  • @FrankGrigonis Garbage?? Listen to Revolver, The Doors, Pet Sounds or Abbey Road and tell me it's garbage. If you do it, there must be something wrong with your ears.

  • @ealiagac Yes. there is something wrong with my ears. I have tinnitus-a permanent hearing loss and ringing in the ears, thanks to rock music, which Segovia despised, and rightly so. Perhaps every kind has its place in the world, but people who try to somehow link Segovia and what he did to modern pop music are simply incorrect. Why should I pay lip-service to pop music? It doesn't need my approval. It does well on its own. To respect Segovia; remember him and his views accurately.

  • @FrankGrigonis yea but eddy van halen and yngwie malmsteem especially yngwie malmsteem appreciates classical music than any other rock performer..

  • Hahaha My Metal bands name is Segovia...This Guys really good

  • @88segovia Cool story bro. Nobody cares.

  • wow 49 people have no ears

  • @kissmygas 49 fucking idiots!

  • @kissmygas 49 fucking idiots!

  • is a macho men...

  • is a gym ...

    lol not

  • whats the name of this song ???

  • @RIKUotaku This song is the first movement of the Suite Castellana, it's called "Fandanguillo".

  • El guitarrista mas grande de todos los tiempos, la guitarra te debe tanto a ti gran maestro, tus admiradores hablan inglés maestro, y tambien castellano.

  • Oops. My bad. R.I.P. fine sir. Still though... Take that Yngwie you pompous jackass.
