  • This is not Wotan!

  • è baritono?è basso?è tenore?

    cosa è?

Ramon Vinay aveva voce più scura...

  • don't worry AnnAdair, this is a role that grows with time Mr Morris(I saw him many times)went through the same, and, became fabulous,MR T will be fantastic, other wise they wouldn't allow him in the production,THIS IS THE MET!!!As for the others read the history Wagner lived in Venice when he composed the ring and Tristan.Ofcourse there is Bel Canto element!!!!

  • Compared to James Morris, Terfel falls quite short. The technique is there, but as far as any subtlety goes for this Live in HD simulcast, Terfel doesn't have it. The presence is just not there.

  • Gotterdammerung coming up in February!!!!! :D So pumped.

  • Oh so beautiful. I am wanting MORE and MORE.

  • wagner siegfre

  • Imo the overwhelming special stage effects, while impressive, don't fit the mood of the story.

  • Love that little glissando at 2:23!

  • This is just about Toscanini's tempo

  • Terfel is okay but the orchestra is taking the music a bit too fast. It should be slower and more "dreamy" in nature. Levine and the Met did a better job. The fire music should also die out slowly and more softly.

  • @saagua1953 you are absolutely right, and i have to say that the ovation at the end is just annoying, and disrespectful

  • ...i was there!!! Bryn Terfel is a real God of singing, always over the orchestra and the other solists, without scream. At the end he told me, "the only way of sing that is with belcanto technic...i played that like Don Giovanni, there is not other way!"

  • @trainingtenor Although I love Bryn Terfel, his singing here could not be further from Bel Canto. He is simply shouthing the notes out and singing open vowels on high the high notes. Don't think his voice will last much longer if he carries on in this vain!

  • @MasterIsh91

Wagner is not Bel Canto, by any means.

  • @SageFlores I'm not saying it is, if you read the previous comments you'll see that I'm responding to a comment about Bryn's singing and not Wagner's music.

  • @MasterIsh91

I now read all the comments and yes you are referring to Terfel's singing, are you saying then that he should sing Bel Canto style in a musical drama that demands otherwise? The work is not Bel Canto, the singing style can't be either.

  • @SageFlores I'm talking about the fact that Bryn Terfel said he always uses an element of Bel Canto in his singing and how this is clearly not the case, he should rename his technique Can Belto.

  • ¡Lo escuché en el Auditorio Nacional en pantalla gigante!

  • Who teaches there people? No sadness .

  • what an awesome set! love it!

  • Magnificent

  • Absolutely stunning.

  • Terfel lives Wotan as he summons Loge to surround his beloved daughter with fire - and then sings his final great challenge to anyone who dares to brave the fire . When he kneels below Brunhilde's figure on the mountain and the curtain finally descends, he seemed overwhelmed, as are we.

  • @sartrific However there is no remorse or sadness in his face or in his voice. I think this is run of the mill.

  • masterpiece if u ask me =D

  • epic!

  • Amazing orchestral sound indeed, comes along with an impossible voice of the colossal Terfel.really unsurpassed.I'm completely tearfull now.

  • orchestra sounds amazing!!!! under Levine!!!
