I installed them for my friends we all play on xbox live without a problem....A whisper fan its a 12v fan running on 5v just like the stock fan. The only difference in the fans are that the whisper is better engenierd (how the ***k do you spell that) lol but yeah

My Whisper Max doesn't exactly fit well. The fan doesn't snap in to the metal part. Also, my case doesn't want to close all the way, but I got it closed. Just bothers me that it doesn't fit completely flush. o_O

Scratch that, apparently there was a problem with a case. I swapped the metal chassis with another 360 and it fit perfectly.

i installed it correctly (i think) but when i switch it over to 5v the fan will spin for a few seconds and then stop? the 12v is fine. if i hook the fan directly over to the 5v without using the nitro cable i spins fine, do you think the nitor switch is faulty?

Reflow the solder joints on the PCB of the nitro switch, and use flux, that should help it.

No, they don't and will NEVER sell such an item in stores. Adapter plugs right in where the old fan plugin is, and of course you can close the 360, there would be no point to this otherwise.

No you cannot install without the switch, and no, because they are wired to 12V, they don't have the adjustment capabilities of the OEM fans.

No, they are still wired to the original power source, but they are also wired to the 12V source from the DVD drive, which is the "nitro" power. The original power source is about 5V, so the fans switch between 5V and 12V when you need maximum cooling.

Yes it does come with it, you do need it to switch between 5V and 12V, but you could always cut the power and route it to a 12V on your mobo and then ground it to have it running at 12V constantly. You can also make your own relay switch but there's no need to.

Nevermind.The adpater comes with it and I learned how to connect it to elites.You dont use the 4 pin head for elite only the 3 pin female (I think its called.)to the on board fanslot and the fan to the nitro switch.Thnanks again for this info.Now I really know how to do this and Im also installing an Aurora lighting kit.
