I see Steel's point. If I were unemployed, and friend of mine (who works for a contractor) says "Hey,we have this big job to do,and we're looking for extra help," and I say "yeah," then yes,I'm "working," but I don't have a "Job." After the dry wall's up,I go back to watching Youtube and eating Cheetos all day. I "worked" for somebody, but I didn't have a "job" I'd go to for some time beyond a temporary project I took part in.
I wish to God the GOP would get off this myth that American business owners, big or small, can be trusted to "create jobs" in some way that benefits the economy. That has been proven false, beyond a shadow of a doubt.
@ZUFALL2938 I'm saying they can't be trusted to do so if they can help it. The most common example is how the auto industry closed down domestic factories and opened them up in other countries so that they could save money, plunging American neighborhoods into poverty.
@jfrsnjhnsn well I think, and this is my opinion, that its a combination of the unions and climate regulations that force domestic factories to bail outta here.....tthe unions are very quick to demand and demand and demand and when the companies give in(because theres no way they can afford to have their employees strike) and the employees immediately turn into typical "union employees" maximum pay AND benefits for minimum production.
@ZUFALL2938 like teachers who make 30K a year? I hear all this crap about how unions are demanding to much money, but what about the petroleum CEO's that make 30+ million a year in bonus's alone? we talk about how unions are killing jobs, but they make a fraction of what the people in charge do. This country is so anti worker. I don't get why everyone wants the rich to not pay their share. I don't think people realize, unless you are born rich, you'll never be rich anymore.
@Earthmoover As far as the rich"not paying their share",that's false. The top 2% of the rich pay 50% of the total tax revenue in the country. So,the oil CEO'S that make "30+ million in bonuses" if that's true,DO pay more money in taxes.Unions at one point were needed years ago for the benefit of the employee,no doubt.Nowadays the unions have become the greedy ones and they are part of the reason why companies get fed up and move to other states/countries.
he is right. When the government hires you to build a road for 3 months, how good is that???? The PRIVATE sector makes real jobs. Jobs that support families, that have 401k's. A temporary job making a road, whatever. It's a bandaid on the real problem.

You are so right, the government can do things better than the private sector. Why not, they have access to unlimited funds via taxation. Private industry either sinks or swims on it's own efforts.
I have never heard anyone so blindly right than this guy. Is he never wrong about anything?
The government did such a great job in Russia
and they will do a great job here, given enough time. "anyways" Perhaps you should learn the language before you pollute the airways,
It strikes me that Steele is a tool in a similar way Palin was. They're there as a poor attempt to appeal to a demographic but, when it comes down to it, they're just fucking idiots.
Also, at the end there, now I understand why Cenk occassionally slips 'hip hop' slang into his general discourse!
Gov't with private companies on infrastructures is like this. They get pay to screw it so you need them again and again. They calculated that law suits and insurance will only cause you more. Is there anybody know how to crack this? I was thinking non-profit training programs be implemented locally so they have the knowledge to break the projects down into smaller sizes and keep those ill practices in check more effectively. What will you do?
Hey idiot ... you cant get to your job if the roads arent fixed, the bridges arent repaired and fuel prices are so high you cant fill up the tank, then where is your little growing business going to be when all public services goes to hell. Jesus these guys are idiots and brainwashed at the same time! GOP go fuck yourselves!
Republican Party is bankrupt in all sorts of ways: morally, ideologically politically (lest not be naive here, there are plenty of idiots out there who buy this shit). This crisis seems more trouling for it is one of worldwide confidence. Job is work is a job for those who do not have it.
Yeah, thats the thing about construction jobs. They ALL end at some point. All buildings, houses and bridges are eventually finished, and thus the job ends.
But that doesnt mean construction workers are unemployed forever because a building is finished. There are even more things to build all the time.
And in any case, whats the answer? Dont repair and rebuild our infrastructure? Steele is a clown.
his arguments still don't make sense. for the most part there, there will be construction jobs available even during high and lows in the economy because people are always building structure or repair infrastructure. ( in rare cases its not true but for the most part it is) it is temporary but those gov jobs come back too. and not all the private industry jobs that are lost come back, some cases its outsourced taken over by a machine etc.
Steele is doing what he's supposed to do...disagreeing with the president, congress, and the Supreme Court no matter how silly his argument are! He is a conservative so his tactics are not surprising. And the results of his tactics are not surprising either...losing elections! :)
because all corporate jobs are long term and will last 'till you retire. Corporations never go under, scale back, lay people off, change business models, outsource jobs, hire temporary workers for temporary jobs, employ people on temporary contracts or hire someone with no experience to work for less. That NEVER happens...right.
oh and the roads you're referring to will need to be maintained. ANYONE that lives where it snows will tell you how temporary roads are if you don't maintain them.
This is the craziest word game I have ever heard...and we wonder why the Republican Party is suffering...Do you think a person who needs to pay there bills or put food on the table for their family cares if they have work....or a job!
The hairsplitting is mindblowing! Cenk is right - government jobs are a LOT more stable than private industry! I have worked in private industry for my whole life, and I have had over 30 jobs - all due to the work ending - no fault of mine - just the private sector is set up to allow employers to cut you the moment they don't really need you. Greenspan so much as said that the greatest virtue of the American economy was "flexible workforce," IOW, unstable. GOP WANTS instability for workers
Michael Steele thinks that private industry jobs last for ever. What a joke. In an at will state your job is day by day. There is no guarantee whether you have a job the next day. WTF is he talking about?
U said "The guy is right. Y don't U just pay all the unemployed people 2 pick up garbage? Is that a real job? No, its not sustainable or productive."
(Tell that 2 the mortgage & utility company, car loan people, grocery stores, etc.). The people who R 2 good 4 'honest' work can sit in a HOMELESS shelter with their family members and their NOSES in the air after they've lost their homes. No where did you hear Obama say the jobs were picking up garbage. UR just making up tales.
When a Democrat is president of U.S., Republicans in Congress talk about fiscal responsibility and budget. When a Republican in president of U.S., Republican in Congress vote with the president many times even if they are not being fiscally responsible and the country experiences budget DEFICIT.Where do the Republican idealogies go when one of their own is elected the president? They are so HYPOCRITES,except Ron Paul who I know has a consistent position no matter if president is GOP or Democrat.
Obviously this Republican Chair doesn't know jack shit about economics. You can't just give tax breaks to people and businesses because THEY WILL JUST HOARD THE MONEY. That's why the government during a recession HAS to provide employment, so that consumption does not plummet and the hoarding will sooner come to a stop. And yes the work is temporary but that's the whole damn point.
That guy's a moron. How many business fail again within the first three years? Long term?? yeah, right. Layoffs, anyone? Reorgs?
"Work" isn't just the stuff that's government-sponsored - it's the *collective* of one's involvement in the free market as someone paid to perform a service.
I agree about Ron Paul. Problem is, they don't want to save themselves or America. Neither do the Democrats. Obama is the same as Bush, who was the same as Clinton. All figureheads who had no real individual power. Both parties are working toward the same goal... well actually, they are working for the same people. Follow the money. All roads lead to those behind the federal reserve and it's fascist dealings with governments around the globe.
YOU (or your children) are paying over $6000 for someone else to have a job (that's the cost of this to start with). We have doubled the national debt in the last 6 months... do you realize the consequences of not thinking about how anything works before forming an opinion? If you want to have a conversation, I'm all for it, just don't spout someone else's opinions. People get married to R's and D's, which is the problem... make a decision for yourself. Learn before spouting off...
Many jobs have contracts....the bottom line is work provides paychecks.
This guy is a real dunce! No one wants this mess but we have been lead right into it! Big Corporations have destroyed all of Americas small businesses look at the Mom and Pop shops that have been forced to close due to places like Walmart, Rite aid, Home Depot and Lowes...and they want to give tax cuts to BIG Business. ...
If government created jobs are so great for our economy, then why not have government create all the jobs, like the USSR did? Yeah, that didn't work out so good, and they had it meticulously planned. The ONLY way to stimulate an economy, proved throughout history, is government reduction and the free market. You can trace ALL our current problems back to the government. Can you name ONE thing where the government has outperformed the free market?
Try again. The New Deal extended the depression. google new deal myth or new deal debunked and you'll get so many articles it'll make your head spin. Don't trust you government approved high school textbook.
Neither. I don't tow any party lines. I go with THE CONSTITUTION, logic, history, trends research, etc. Marrying a party gives power to those at the head of that party and allows you to be manipulated easier. In fact, I like certain members from both sides (and many independents) of the aisle throughout history. There are good eggs on both sides out there today, but so many bad ones that they are rendered mute.
And nevermind the fact that home schoolers and private schools blow away public students. Why do you think Obama put his kids in a private school instead of public? One of the rare few things I agree with him on are his comments arguing for charter schools...
Private schools are one of the reasons public schools are so awful. No competitive teachers feel like working the public schools...and your ability to get good education is based off how much money your parents have instead of how badly you want to learn. Something has to change, and more private schools is not the answer.
Also, are you saying the competitive teachers are better? Sounds like competition may improve the teaching quality too. And it has been proven that money doesn't do anything (Bush doubled the education budget and nada, zip, etc). Check out John Stossel's "Stupid in America" for an interesting example of how they managed to teach a high schooler to read in a few weeks with 3 grand after public education pushed him through grade after grade for over 100 grand...
I've seen the special already. I'm saying it doesn't matter if private school teachers are better. Private schools could be teaching kids quantum mechanics with the best teachers in the world. My point is that it's exclusive, dependent on your paren'ts income, and not fair for children. Privatizing education is a horrible idea, not because private schools are ineffective, but because you've just forced those with less money to be less educated: see college.
Ah, but as with competition things always get better and cheaper. Just think of things like PC's, cell phones, TV's. These things were ridiculously expensive at first. But with more competition, everyone can now access this wonderful technology. You'd never have these things in a monopoly (which is what govt is). Free market IS what allows things to get cheaper, better, and more accessible to everyone. Govt is out of the job to actually solve this problem, and grow with each new problem...
Education is not PCs, cell phones, or TVs. Education is not a business, it is a service.
The free market is a beautiful machine, but you cannot apply it to everything. Imagine if you had to bid on policemen: highest bid fastest service. Surely Cops would be more attentive to their job, and the quickest would always be paid the most. But imagine what you're doing to those that can't afford it, and worse, their children.
It's not American and philosophically I can't agree.
Show me in the constitution where education is listed as a service (It isn't, because the founding fathers knew the dangers of govt manipulation) and how it can't be run like a business. PE is the farthest thing from being American (liberty, choice, freedom). Government tries stifles competing schools and ideologies. PE is indoctrinating you to love your government, approving the books, history, beliefs, everything. Controlling education is one of the planks of the communist manifesto.
Show me in the constitution where education is listed as a business.
The Constitution is utterly fantastic, but it isn't perfect. Neither is the free market. At the end of the day, it's a piece of paper, and it's been edited several times. You may have heard of these "amendment" things. Things are not so black and white in reality. That's what you Paulites, I mean independents, don't seem to get.
but kids who go to private schools or are homeschooled never get to meet kids with opposing political views, different religions from themselves, different races, different economic classes. they are ISOLATED from reality.
Yes, war does create a lot of jobs... so your argument is that we should create more wars? Government can only employ as long as taxes are flowing and it can't tax itself... But it was actually the federal reserve that caused the great depression by increasing the money supply (that's why we had the "booming" 20's, because of all the extra cashflow people were living beyond their means like recently). Just like what's happening today, it burst.
you said name ONE time when the government outperformed the free market, that is one time, i dont want any more wars, im answering your question. and the federal reserve had to increase money supply because more money was required, people were over spending because there was no government oversight, aka it was free market
How can people spend money they don't have? The money supply increased first. And who's warring? This is a conversation? If you make a more logical argument to all I've gathered so far, I'm on board... I just go with what makes the most sense...
people spend money they dont have all the time, the more people do it, the more money the reserve has to create, it goes both ways but in a free market society nothing will be done to slow the supply and inflation of money. We are currently in two wars so im not sure what your point is there
Did they have credit cards in the 20's? How were they getting all this money? Loans from the Fed through a fractional reserve banking system, which is pure scam and has to fail. Keep in mind that the federal reserve isn't owned by the government. It is private, working with the government (fascism - see Mussolini). In a truly free market, our money would be backed by commodities (not fiat money from the federal reserve).
There are no similarities between creating government funded jobs and jobs created by the free market. Jobs created by government have limited funds (equal to a contract) paid by taxes. Therefore, will need more taxes (or "stimulus") to keep going beyond the contract. Free market jobs are based on success and go on (and grow) as long as a company endures, which could be a year or a lifetime. But, they take no taxes to create. Just individuals with an idea for something that people want.
Since when are understood laws and principles of economics "voodoo"?
The republicans have been just as bad as the democrats over the past 8 years and beyond. This government intervention by both parties that caused the crisis is the real "voodoo economics".
omfg this guy is so retarded..... he's saying government jobs are secure, he's thinking about things like mail men and government agencies. yes, those are secure. but construction jobs bought by the government are completely temporary and don't fuel any new businesses... which is what we need.... steele is 100% correct just not explaining very well, because he's playing with the words 'work' and 'job' if you look past that, you might understand the concept better instead of hanging on every wrd
But construction jobs by the government are so lucrative that it is secure. Governments overpay and you are pretty much guaranteed to get a new contract if you have worked with them before. If they like your work, you will still get hired over new companies. Also, construction by nature is ALWAYS temporary. Who ever heard of a permanent construction?
you just said it though... all construction jobs are temporary, so therefor, not the solution... if you instead make it easier for small businesses to build then construction/renovation jobs will come when those new businesses need them as well as supplying jobs to run that business....
I like your social issues TYT but you really shouldn't talk about the economy without doing more research. Read about "Austrian Economics". But Alan Keyes needs more reading on the subject as well.
We need to have back yard algae farms. This way people won't have to bet the farm on a bad boss's behavior. Things have been on the verge for quite along time now. I feel as if many of the people i have dealt with in the working world were felons and should have been locked up, but in the business world feloneous bosses are rarely answerable for their crimes. Status supports status like lies support lies. The only thing you can do is debilitate the criminals.
i watched this fellow, he is essentially an Uncle Tom to the Republican Plantation owners. He is high enough now so that he does not actuall have to handle the whipping duties. Slavery was more a form of classism than racism. They just made the more physcially adept people into the slaves. If you do the worst work all the time and the boss avoids talking with you, and will sometimes hurt you then you are essentially a slave in a slaver's culture.
They're Republicans that's how they are.. They never make sense!... Filibustering... A way to make people to think they know what they're talking about... haha...
I really dont get how politicians as the republicans can run around and proclaim politicians shouldnt do anything because the market handles it best by it self. Why do republicans wish to get elected to do a job they do not believe to be good for the country in the first place?
Thats like a doctor who believes wounds heal best by itself and sends all his patients home again, after charging them to pay for nothing, of course. Why would one want such a doctor?
that's why it's a stimulus package not a permanent employee package.hopefully in two years or so after the government programs have been completely the private sector will be recovering by then
I find it hilarious that the Michael Steele definition of a "job" is the kind of lifelong-employment of Japanese salarymen often decried by American conservatives...
Steele seems to take his communication skills from the planet Margo. They communicate by farting and tap-dancing. He is trying to redefine farting and tap-dancing, by farting and tap-dancing - give it a rest dude. You look the fool you be
They wont come back, they will be replaced by new jobs. That is why it is reasonable to stimulate some things in the economy - like green energy, because that requires a whole new infrastructure.
Ummmm... aren't all jobs in several areas- construction, design, research... and others, basically contract labor? Isn't the GOP's own Joe da plumber one of these workers? See- he has no job.
Steele is actually making a good point. Government jobs do not create wealth. The workers are paid by taxes collected from the private sector. They in turn pay taxes on that money, and the circular motion of that money goes round and round without helping our trade deficit.
Wrong. Putting money in the persons pocket most likely to spend it makes good economic sense. We're not trying to create wealth, we're trying to stimulate a dying economy. Our GDP is fine. It's 6th per capita and 1st for a country our size. We export plenty.
I find the problem with the economy confusing. Is it all because banks are extending loans? Or is it that we Americans are getting too greedy? I know businesses always go the route of laying people off instead of other possible solutions. To save on gas, companies could encourage more working from home where applicable. And instead of writing off a debt as bad, work with people to collect the money owed!
well, id rather have a 2 year contract job that will last me until the economy gets better, than sit on my ass laid-off for 2 years until something gets better......at this point i will take a 6 month job, just so i can pay some bills.
You would think that these Republicans would be against welfare....we're not asking for free money....we want F*UCKIN JOBS!! So instead of putting money in people's pockets AND improving the welfare of this nation, they would rather give more money to rich people!! They better lose more seats in 2010!!
I completely understand what Michael Steele is saying. When the Govt contract ends the companies have to get rid of the folks they hired to fill the position for the contract in the first place. The only problem is I also agree that a job is a job and to get people working again, even if it's short term, should be the goal.
we need more jobs back in this country and one way to do it is to nullify nafta. that is one part of the problem. next is to tell american companies that if they must hire americans citizens first. maybe you give them a tax break as an incentive. the hardest part is ensuring workers get a fair rate of pay from employers. we must remember that the avg person are those buying these products and if they don't have the cash to spend then the company is losing money in the long run.
I would go to my job to work they are collectively united, a job can be done for money and also done to assist your fellow man or woman but once again to complete the job you would have to work I hope this has helped the confused republican rednek fucks
I understand what he is trying to say....but when George said that we lost jobs, and he agrees that they did go away but they come back.......huh? So you loose a government job, or a private job, and you wait for both to come back.....are you better off waiting for the private job?....do you feel better that you lost a private job?....not one of the "big government" jobs?....I know what he is trying to say...but he is making no sense saying it.....if you understand that LMAO
Is he saying construction is only temporary ... he should have a chat with architects, structural engineers, ... is he aware that infrastructure is constantly degrading, that most reinforced concrete structures have a design life of about 75 years ... that roads, bridges, water treatment facilities require constant maintenance ... is he familiar with something called "The housing Sector" ... all the cars from the auto industry have to park somewhere ... Oh ... at a house or apartment ... fool
Michael Steele = Out of touch with reality. Right about now I don't think people care if its work or a job as long as someone is scratching them a paycheck.
Really.....I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and now I work at the US Census Bureau!! Without that job, I'd still be taking money from my parents!!
The difference is if you are not starving, close to homeless, & struggling to raise your kids you get to pick & choose what kind of work you want to take - otherwise, anything that will pay you for time & energy will do. Talk about stable business jobs to the thousands who are now unemployed. i know republicans can be clueless, but geez!
That's a difficult question to answer. These industries have been "semi-nationized" for some time, and they are becoming more nationalized by the day.
Thats like asking a gas pump attendent to take a position like CEO of Exxon just cuz you need a spot filled. I'm a woman but I know when I am qualified and where I would have a doubt and think to myself I may not be able to handle this and maybe they should find a more qualified person for the job. I would not assume the boss was sexist, unless I WAS qualified and he passed me over for a man.
What it comes down to it is she was a fish out of water & no knowledge whatsoever of the postion she was about to partake in... and should have said (if she had any brain function) ty mr mccain but I am not qualified for it. ty I'm honored but will have to decline. She was asked the same exact questions most politicians should know especialy if they are running for VP. I dont want someone that I feel smarter than to run my country or have access to the nuclear codes or my civil liberties.
I never saw anything sexist on there they were funny... so funny she went on the show with no gun pulled to her head and couric asked her political questions that she couldnt answer yet other could. Look up what sexist means sir/mam. They asked her simple questions she had no answers, cus she was retarded she was way over her head. Basicaly your saying a student in jr high (for this lets say its a female... ) is asked by a teacher whats 12x12 and they dont know the answer the teacher is sexist?
ecwaufisxtreme... I dont know about your post and what bothered me more... the fact you stated pallin wants her package sucked and that shes a statesman not woman which implies shes got a cack... which can explain why shes so anti women or that she will rise from some ashes lol the closest she has to ashes and them rising hun is when the bitch opens her legs and lets out a queef. Anyways your a moron! Have a nice day!
they've gone away before and they've come back! omg! its the disappearing and reappearing jobs!! its amazing!

Yeah, thats the thing about construction jobs. They ALL end at some point. All buildings, houses and bridges are eventually finished, and thus the job ends.
But that doesnt mean construction workers are unemployed forever because a building is finished. There are even more things to build all the time.
And in any case, whats the answer? Dont repair and rebuild our infrastructure? Steele is a clown.
SocialDemocrats 2 years ago 2
his arguments still don't make sense. for the most part there, there will be construction jobs available even during high and lows in the economy because people are always building structure or repair infrastructure. ( in rare cases its not true but for the most part it is) it is temporary but those gov jobs come back too. and not all the private industry jobs that are lost come back, some cases its outsourced taken over by a machine etc.

because all corporate jobs are long term and will last 'till you retire.

Obviously this Republican Chair doesn't know jack shit about economics. You can't just give tax breaks to people and businesses because THEY WILL JUST HOARD THE MONEY. Can you name ONE thing where the government has outperformed the free market?

mj1903ikjshdj 3 years ago
Schools? You can't be serious... we spend by far the most money and are the worst rated amongst developed countries.
votefornotagainst 3 years ago
And nevermind the fact that home schoolers and private schools blow away public students. Why do you think Obama put his kids in a private school instead of public? One of the rare few things I agree with him on are his comments arguing for charter schools...
votefornotagainst 3 years ago
Private schools are one of the reasons public schools are so awful. No competitive teachers feel like working the public schools...and your ability to get good education is based off how much money your parents have instead of how badly you want to learn. Something has to change, and more private schools is not the answer.
andid 3 years ago
You're right... ALL private schools is the answer. There is no business for the government to be involved in education.
votefornotagainst 3 years ago
Also, are you saying the competitive teachers are better? Sounds like competition may improve the teaching quality too. And it has been proven that money doesn't do anything (Bush doubled the education budget and nada, zip, etc). Check out John Stossel's "Stupid in America" for an interesting example of how they managed to teach a high schooler to read in a few weeks with 3 grand after public education pushed him through grade after grade for over 100 grand...

andid 3 years ago
I've seen the special already. I'm saying it doesn't matter if private school teachers are better. Private schools could be teaching kids quantum mechanics with the best teachers in the world. My point is that it's exclusive, dependent on your paren'ts income, and not fair for children. Privatizing education is a horrible idea, not because private schools are ineffective, but because you've just forced those with less money to be less educated: see college.
andid 3 years ago
Ah, but as with competition things always get better and cheaper. Just think of things like PC's, cell phones, TV's. These things were ridiculously expensive at first. But with more competition, everyone can now access this wonderful technology. You'd never have these things in a monopoly (which is what govt is). Free market IS what allows things to get cheaper, better, and more accessible to everyone. Govt is out of the job to actually solve this problem, and grow with each new problem...
votefornotagainst 3 years ago
Education is not PCs, cell phones, or TVs. Education is not a business, it is a service.
The free market is a beautiful machine, but you cannot apply it to everything. Imagine if you had to bid on policemen: highest bid fastest service. Surely Cops would be more attentive to their job, and the quickest would always be paid the most. But imagine what you're doing to those that can't afford it, and worse, their children.
It's not American and philosophically I can't agree.
andid 3 years ago
Show me in the constitution where education is listed as a service (It isn't, because the founding fathers knew the dangers of govt manipulation) and how it can't be run like a business. PE is the farthest thing from being American (liberty, choice, freedom). Government tries stifles competing schools and ideologies. PE is indoctrinating you to love your government, approving the books, history, beliefs, everything. Controlling education is one of the planks of the communist manifesto.

The Constitution is utterly fantastic, but it isn't perfect. Neither is the free market. At the end of the day, it's a piece of paper, and it's been edited several times. You may have heard of these "amendment" things. Things are not so black and white in reality. That's what you Paulites, I mean independents, don't seem to get.

you do of course realize that the great depression was caused by free market and government jobs during WWII ended the depression. this is fact.
xxth3g0dfath3rxx 3 years ago
Yes, war does create a lot of jobs... so your argument is that we should create more wars? Government can only employ as long as taxes are flowing and it can't tax itself... But it was actually the federal reserve that caused the great depression by increasing the money supply (that's why we had the "booming" 20's, because of all the extra cashflow people were living beyond their means like recently). Just like what's happening today, it burst.
votefornotagainst 3 years ago
you said name ONE time when the government outperformed the free market, that is one time, i dont want any more wars, im answering your question. and the federal reserve had to increase money supply because more money was required, people were over spending because there was no government oversight, aka it was free market
xxth3g0dfath3rxx 3 years ago
How can people spend money they don't have? The money supply increased first. And who's warring? This is a conversation? If you make a more logical argument to all I've gathered so far, I'm on board... I just go with what makes the most sense...
votefornotagainst 3 years ago
people spend money they dont have all the time, the more people do it, the more money the reserve has to create, it goes both ways but in a free market society nothing will be done to slow the supply and inflation of money. We are currently in two wars so im not sure what your point is there
xxth3g0dfath3rxx 3 years ago
Did they have credit cards in the 20's? How were they getting all this money? Loans from the Fed through a fractional reserve banking system, which is pure scam and has to fail. Keep in mind that the federal reserve isn't owned by the government. It is private, working with the government (fascism - see Mussolini). In a truly free market, our money would be backed by commodities (not fiat money from the federal reserve).
votefornotagainst 3 years ago
This guy is on drugs. The work may go away with all jobs. To say that only private sector employment is a permanent job is lunacy.
NSU224 3 years ago
There are no similarities between creating government funded jobs and jobs created by the free market. Jobs created by government have limited funds (equal to a contract) paid by taxes. Therefore, will need more taxes (or "stimulus") to keep going beyond the contract. Free market jobs are based on success and go on (and grow) as long as a company endures, which could be a year or a lifetime. But, they take no taxes to create. Just individuals with an idea for something that people want.

Steele is actually making a good point. Government jobs do not create wealth. The workers are paid by taxes collected from the private sector. They in turn pay taxes on that money, and the circular motion of that money goes round and round without helping our trade deficit.
We need exportable goods.
pretorious700 3 years ago

Or is it that we Americans are getting too greedy? we need more jobs back in this country and one way to do it is to nullify nafta. that is one part of the problem. next is to tell american companies that if they must hire americans citizens first. maybe you give them a tax break as an incentive. the hardest part is ensuring workers get a fair rate of pay from employers. we must remember that the avg person are those buying these products and if they don't have the cash to spend then the company is losing money in the long run.

The Republican Double Talk Express has a new chauffeur.
Steel has the same talking points as Bush and McSame.

Actually, Steele was simply drawing a distinction between government jobs and private sector jobs.
Private sector jobs cost taxpayers (virtually) nothing. They are much better for the economy than government jobs--for which we are directly charged.
When too many people have government jobs in the US, the economy will sink like a stone.
Actually, the excessive number of government jobs is one reason why we have the economic mess that we have today.
Steele makes a great point here.

Isn't the banking and loan industry the private sector or is it part of the government
I'm just asking
TheFunkyDomination 3 years ago

Steele was the best possible choice to lead the republicans, and he's still retarded!
