If you're having problems with opening hellgate.exe x64 with the hex editor - just open hellgate.exe x86!!! simple as that. you should have a x86 version in your game directory. cheers.

P.S: Tried to edit the values in a 1.32.44.4020 version... doesnt work. ;(

@Trinitrotoluene101 Thanks for commenting on my two year old video about a game that died. I would of loved to use fraps but it would only capture the stuff going on in hellgate and not the steps taken going through the PDF's to find values and editing in them HXD. Making explaining everything in an easy to follow and understand way extremely difficult.

Yo, thanks for the guide and all.. it works but i kinda have problems with editting luck.. dont really understand. For example if luck 33, i have to x10 first its gonna be 3 digits not 2 so how to enter the hex? Thanks.

@falcon2805 33 luck is 21 hex. I don't know why you have to x10. just run the number through the calculator.

I tried this, but when i enter the normal item code "00 00 c0 31 01 00 00 00" and try to change it into an unique one "00 00 c0 31 06 00 00 00" It says that it changes, but then I go back into the game and I exit, then I log in, but the items are still normal. I'm using an other version of you, I think, i hear at the start of the vid that I need 1.2 or something, I can't find it, could you post a link of something?

im using the game in a 64x direct x10 and the HxD always stops responding when i try to load the game, any other program you suggest that could replace it?

Great video and it really helped alot i needed like 10min to understand editing,changing stats and stuff but what im really interested in is getting a specific item.. Now the problem is every time i try to make a unique version of "M3 Perforator" i get "The Riddler" but there is a other version called "Jung's Windstorm"... now all i would like to know is how to get the "Jung's Windstorm" instead, please reply to me or if anyone else can help i would be very grateful

@ZacIonut sorry friend its cuz of windows 7, it gives me the same problem, but on my windows XP computer it works fine. windows 7 gives alot of problems with programs like this for some reason.

@spartan117mastrchief ok its been a VERY VERY long time, but i think this is how i did it...

search for a value, equal to the stack of items you want to edit. change the stack size, repeat. do this several times until you only have a handful of values left. then change them to the desired stack size. but try not to make the stack bigger then what that item would normally stack too.

same can be done with skillpoints/exp/ect, just dont go over the cap, which i cant currently remember >.<

@OmegaGrunt Oh, should also mention when I did searches like that I used Cheat Engine instead of Hxd. Not sure if you could also use Hxd (havent touched this stuff in a year or two) you could probably find some more info through googling cheat engine - hellgate london.

also, should be obvious, but when multiplayer comes back (if it ever does) this will not work for it.

thanks man, I think I got what to do now. and from what I hear, they are already playin it online in asia again, so it might just be a case of waiting for them to start distributing it in the EU.

and yeah, I wouldnt think about trying this sorta thing with an online game anyways, unfair and too risky lol.

I was having that same problem with HxD and x64, found a solution (sort of): get another computer that has the x86 version on it (a computer that doesn't have a dual-core processor, right?), then copy the "SP_x86" folder over and run it. Worked for me!

as long as your os is 32 bit the program will work fine if you are runing a 64 idk if it will work

hmmm nope that didnt work, but apparently ppl with x64 bit are having trouble with the program as well, i also just tried cheat engine but it said that it couldnt find the values when i searched for them

OK, I know this is old but still... The problem is because x64 systems have more protected memory ;) so you can't just hack&edit it :D

I don't know, never had that problem. if your using windows, try running HxD as admin, and just run hgl normally.
