@rebcanirish Really? You are going to make that "correction?" Well for starters the IRA used ANY weapon they got their hands on. And if you want to be technical about all of this, then the IRA's favorite rifles were Armalites. It didn't make a difference if it was a CAR15, M16, AR15, M4, M18. The Stoner design(or modified versions) were frequently used. They didn't turn their nose up at AKs or H&Ks though. I traced weapon suppliers for the conflict...I could list almost every weapon used.

And if you want to be technical about all of this, then the IRA's favorite rifles were Armalites. It didn't make a difference if it was a CAR15, M16, AR15, M4, M18. The Stoner design(or modified versions) were frequently used. They didn't turn their nose up at AKs or H&Ks though. I traced weapon suppliers for the conflict...I could list almost every weapon used.

Look at all the problems we had with the gilbratar 3 who were on active service just cos they werent armed. SAS did request 48 hrs free reign in Eire but the polictians denied them cos of the International backlash. Pity really would of been a great operation!
