I have evga gtx 285 latest drivers and the fan doesnt ajust properly. I am not the only one with the problem but now whne I play hardcore games, I set my fan higher in the percision tool.

dont let it run higher than 70 degrees Celcius.

Those are very inaccurate results, the GTX 260 Core 216 will definately even or outmatch the 280.

@ mom tri sli with gtx 285 is the best system on many benches 10-30 fps more than 2x gtx 295.

but i would buy maximum a gtx 260 couse i play on a 24" monitor and not on 3 30"+ so its only money waste . @ m1a1panzerx

I think your benches are wrong ati 4870 x2 loses hard on gtx 285 and 2 4870 x2 like 10 fps more than gtx 285 and about 10 fps less than a gtx 295. ATI was good somedays today nvidia rulez the world but i am exeting on next nvidia cards running with crapi amd prozzis

The 4870x2 is just slightly faster than the 280 and since the 260 superclocked is quite a bit faster than the 280 it's out performs the 4870x2

1680x1050??? Try setting everything on high with a resolution of 1920x1200 or 2560x1600 and tell me what you get. =] I have a 24" lcd with XFX Black Edition GTX 285's in SLI and with everything cranked to the max, I don't average higher than 45fps.

You've been smoking crack too long. ATI isn't the best. They might put out a gpu from time to time that trumps Nvidia but it's never for very long. If you want to compare benchmarks, the ATI 4870 X2 in this chart has (2) gpu's on a single card whereas the GTX 285 has only one. To get a REAL comparison, multiply the GTX 285 score by 2 and you'll really see who comes out on top.

all games are designed for nVidia Performance. Thats why its NVIDIA THE WAY ITS MEANT TO BE PLAYED.

ATI cards are good but they are going through the limits..

If You want some real benchmarks and all, go with nVidia.

lol this has probally been said before but a 285 is a single gpu and a x2 is a 2 gpu

why would you even compare a single card setup from nvidia to a dual card setup from ati? why don't you compare apples to apples. A SINGLE gtx 285 beats the hell out of a SINGLE 4870. And a SINGLE oc'ed 285 beats a SINGLE oc'ed 4890. ATI wins in performance for the price,but they looooose when it comes to their top gpu versus nvidia's top gpu, at least for now.

I have always loved AMD/ATI for there price to performance ratio. But price be damned Intel/Nvidia is the way to go ATM. But just let Nvidia put themselves out of business with there renaming schemes. Day by day less websites are buying into the PhysX/Cuda crap...what Mirrors edge and 3 UT3 maps use physX? yeah even tho the GTX 295 is a faster card alot of the games dont support the dual GPU thing. so your best bet is the GTX 285 due to the higher shader and memory clock. And at least with the 285 you can force SLI if you want to buy another one :)

The first sentence was good. Then mush. A GTX 295 beats a 4870x2. 2x 285's will EASILY beat a 4870 lol, but I assume you meant 4870x2, inc which case they still beat by a large margin.

TThe 4870x2 doesn't have SLI, that is Nvidia exclusive, it has xFire, same thing but less efficient.

Best card out imo is the GTX 285, but if you are thinking of dual card definetly go for GTX 295, none of this 4870x2 crap.

Geforce GTX 295 wins from the ATI HD4870 X2, because my father has the ATI HD 4870 X2 in his computer, and I have the Geforce GTX 295, I'd say they're both great, i can play crysis warhead and farcry 2 on the highest details without having it to lagg even once, the only thing that's bad about the ATI HD 4870 X2 is that it doesn't have the physx on the GPU and that's why the framerate is lower than the GTX 295, otherwise the GTX 295 would still win, but ati would be close to that rate.

that depends on what ress, if u play like 1920*1200 without aa and af on max the 4870x2 will rape the 280gtx, if you play lower ress without aa and af then the 280gtx will win.

and on even higher resses both cards will fail, even if ur running tri-sli or quad-crossfire.

and if u cant agree with me on that u should look at some more benches.
