As a 16 year old (i am now 18) I was able to visit and explore the northern regions of Ethiopia. From region to region I noticed the same occurrence over and over again: the children were asking me for pencils, not money! Its disheartening for me to see in my own community, children who continuously complain about an education that is basically handed to them on a silver platter, when in developing countries such as Ethiopia the children are walking countless kilometers just to go to school.
@MissTrackStar93 I know... It's mind-blowing, isn't it? We'd love you to get involved in the movement and help us spread the word. Check out girleffect (dot) org. We have a ton of resources that could help you!
"Emulating the Eritrean movement as a courageous challenge, many Tigray elements had, since 1970, been forming groups that contemplated an armed struggle to assert the rights of the Tigrayans for equality and fair treatment. The TPLF undertook a working relationship with the Eritrean front, the EPLF".
It might take time & hard work, but at the end of the day. as determind as you are YOU WILL ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS, just like my grand mothers, mothers & sisters did.
this is a very serious video. please keep your own agendas off here. We, Ethiopians don't feel superior or inferior to anyone. We're proud people, but equality is something we feel at all times. So lets jump off the racism topic and focus back on the youth who are in a troubling situations, especially the girls who have no options. Please don't be selfish.
What is "WHITE" about the woman in the video? Are you referring to her so-called "fine" facial features?
Why can't Caucasians get it through their heads that if an indigenous African people have features that are identical or similar to theirs, then they (the Caucasians) have the Africans' features -- not the other way around?
@PurePressure999 This is one way to look at it, but I think what PBL was trying to emphasize was the fact that the differences between black and white are so minimal. You seem to be saying black is superior to white, and many whites say white is superior to black, but the point is that niether statement is true, and the two races have more in common than they do separating them. People who try to highlight the differences are racists (both black AND white), let's all celebrate the similarities.
"You seem to be saying black is superior to white..."
Are you SERIOUS?? How in the HELL did you gather that from my initial comment? The human race began in East Africa, not in the Caucasus Mountains. Peoples in that part of Africa have always had these so-called "fine" features. Caucasians saying that East Africans have Caucasian features is like a grandson saying his grandfather has his features. It's backwards. That's all I was saying. Where does superiority come into play?
i just spent 10 hours on a flight from Germany to Canada sitting next to the most amazing Eithiopian woman. I wish her well in her new life in Canada.
@cccccc992 You must be one evil and miserable individual to say such a thing. Why dont you seek help from a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, or Religion? I know it would be difficult for you to seek this help on your own because your Sick, but at least try. You dont realize it yourself but you need the help badly!!!
Humans are not so different we are all very much alike. From Australia to even the most remote village in Ethiopia, underneath the cultural conditioning we are all the same its amazing. Like my father used to say, people are all the same, only the scenery changes
this video is missing a bit of context, although from the sounds of it she is talking about her marriage & her husband not letting her go to school... the explanation & translation of her marriage was that it happened when she was 11, she went to church "like usual" and that they asked her to "wear these clothes" and "say this, say that"...
sounds more like they tricked her rather than forced her per say... of course being 11 years old, there not a lot of difference.
@BahreNeGash Granted the diff in reality is next to zero for someone in her position. Remember though, she did get a divorce, so she did have some choice in this society. But the difference between the two is that one is deceiving her to get her married vs blackmailing her (by coersion). When one blackmails deception is unnecessary. My aunt (by marriage) had this happen to her (by her family) when my uncle proposed marriage. She could have said no, but the consequences would have been bad.
@BahreNeGash listen i was simply clarifying the translation. It was not accurate. In Canada (where I live now) the fact that she's 11 means that there is no legal difference between coersion & trickery. I've venture to guess even if she was 31, you shouldn't be able to trick someone into marriage. AND I AGREE WITH THIS.
I was trying to clarify the difference. Not justify it.
Therefore, why NOT help the girl to regain her self-esteem, self-confidence & help her go to school, to over come all the truama she have been living through?
I'm glad we've come to that understanding... but I'm curious, do you look for fights? Cause I never made a statement either way about helping/not helping her.
But I ask myself, why is that the DEFENSELESS always ends up being victimized by society?
FYI: Every time I see this girl, trying to hide her tears, I get angry at those who forced her to live this way & got away with it.
If there ever was a NEED for justice & accountability, those who deprived this girl from living her dreams & forced her to live in the shackles of society MUST be held accountable for the crimes against the girl.
True. But the sad reality is that they likely wont. What we can do is support projects & ideas like these to help re-balance the scale. And all this talk is great, but unless it results in action (by me and/or you) it is a waste & means almost nothing.
I agree with you there's a NEED for immidiate action to stop this child-sex-slavery.
Calling the Administrations of the so-called civilized nations who shed crocodile tears over "human Rights" & still reap profits by SELLING ARMS TO ETHIOPIA, at the expense of Addis & millions of her kind, have to be told to stop their FAKE CRYS & HELP ADDIS.
These so-called "civilized nations" need to prove to ADDIS & millions of her kind, they are as civilized as they calim to be.
She says, "I begged him to let me go to school, so many times. He just refused." No one can imagine what an eleven years old girl can feel, when her own parents trick her into a "marriage" where she was going to be raped and enslaved. You can still see the pain in her beautiful eyes, this breakes my heart and brings tears to my eyes. I hope she and her child can move on and have a happier life.
For starters no child should be forced to marry. This is something that needs to be corrected. This sounds a lot like rape or the molestation of young girls, it's wrong.
I hate it when she breaks down in tears, in the middle of a sentence. She is so used to unkind circumstances that her facial expression hardly changes when she cries. You can tell she is a proud person. Mostly, she is embarassed that she was reduced to the status of a beggar. It is had to beleive that Africans cannot provide basic neccesities for their people, yet they have money for wars and they build monuments to empty victories.
this is a silly video. I was back in Ethiopia a year ago, and the result of preventing girls from getting married as their tradition has been a disaster. Most of these girls go to horrible govt. schools where they came out semi-illiterate. Most ended up as town bar girls and went back to their villages with out of wedlock children. Until Ethiopia can give real alternative opportunities, encouraging girls to not marry will be a disaster- with many single mothers like in the US inner cities.
What's wrong with poor kids having dreams to go school, to make their lives better? FYI,,, Many notable folks around the world came from poor parents in rural areas with zero option. But, they worked hard & made huge difference for the betterment of their lives & mankind.
PS: Instead of discouraging people, please, try to see the best efforts of mankind, to realize their dreams.
It's not wrong to have dreams, but let us not fantasize either. I know people who have made it from the countryside because they were either exceptional, or they went to live in the city where they had relatives who put them through school. All are men actually. these are the exceptions not the rule. Most girls like here have no realistic options and would end up in the city as prostitutes/bar girls. or maids or single mothers. Than we have another set of social problems.
First we have to have good schools and jobs before we start breaking down family structures and a way of life. Look at the video again. They are happy that she divorced her husband. Now what? Do they show us the poor quality of the school she is attending? Do they tell us that only a few are accepted to high school in Ethiopia. Do Does it talk about how she is going to support herself? You said best efforts of mankind-I see charities who lie to collect money for themselves.
1. WHY ARE HAVING PROBLEM WITH LETTING THE GIRL GOING TO SCHOOL?
2. Though no one is forcing the girl to divorce her husband, she is being FORCED to unholy matrimony.
I understand your concern & I'm NOT advocating for "charities" to do it for us.
I believe if we can BREED, TRAIN & COACH the Derarta Tulus, world champions of the world, we can BREED, TRAIN & COACH these girls to be the best Teachers, Nurses, Doctors, Engineers & Scientists of the world.

She is crying because there are no good choices available to her, even though she has the face of an angel. She could be anything: model, actress, singer. They rescued her from premature marriage, then what? The money has been spent on the military and the rest is stolen. She was born poor and she will die poor, because she was robbed before she was even born. What a waste.
You are defending the system that ruined the lifes of many people in the horn, including this young girl. You are a 19 years old Ethiopian who lives the "good life?" in America. The question is why are you defending the regime? Is your father one of the men who stole the money and sent you to school abroad, or are you acting out of a misguided loyalty to the tribe. Either way you are a bloody fool. Bloody because when this girl dies of neglect, you are as responsible as your father.
First of all, the good life isn't much different for me from home, not because my dad stole or what ever but he earned it, and in fact he's a member of opposition parties. So plz again u r jumping to conclusions based on no fact at all, I was just trying to point out that you really need to understand each situation before making judgments.
That is what I am saying. You are intelligent and articulate. Don't put your head in the sand. Own up to your short comings like a man. Don't hide behind conservative mambo jambo like "define themselves what they are ..." Admit that we have a systemic problem in the horn. This girl is your age. She could be your sister, wife, girlfriend. Have compassion for her. You should be thinking what can I do to make things better? And It starts with an admission, that the system is a collosal failiure!
I'm so tired of these lame Eritrea vs. Ethiopia flame wars on any youtube video that has to do with the horn of Africa. Eritreans and Ethiopians both share a common heritage through ancient Abyssinia. They have a lot more in common than their differences.
that is where you are wrong, white people have been sending you money for 60 years, we wiped african nations debt to help you, it is your fault you arent making it in the world, we are trying extremely hard to build your nations up but you do not know how to run a business. its sad to say but you elect poor leaders, your governments are corrupt your countries are well and truly fucked, and untill you sort it out, no amount of money will be able to help.
Instead of preaching to Africans, why NOT elect a NEW ENGLISH QUEEN?
FYI, "White man came to our land with a Bible in hand & gave us the Bible & told us to close our eyes & pray."
"When we opened our eyes, the White man ended up having our land & we ended up having the White man's Bible, but lost our land to the White man". Bishop Desmond Tutu,
Interesting to see those who built empires by waging centuries of wars all over the world preaching the same old gospel, DECEPTION.
haha im not religious and youll find more than 50% of us excluding america are atheists. you can attack the bible as much as you want, but just because you chose to believe that bullshit and got ripped off doesnt mean we are to blame, fucking wisen up. you cant elect a queen you retarded monkey. she is born into the position and the english queen has no power.
lol we took your land because you didnt have claim to it. you dont understand that ownership of something can only be declared through legislation because the white man who controls the world says so, when you rule the world you can make your own rules but for now it is controled by us. we send you money we do everything we can to help you but it is your own countries fault that you cant drag yourself out of poverty. its not us who is forcing u to spend money on war. that is your choice. handle.
What a gorgeous girl, this is heartbreaking. I am glad she and her son are now getting educated. Education is the only way out of the misery of poverty and ignorance, no matter where you are in the world.
All children in the world who complain about how evil their teachers are or how much they hate homework should watch this clip...or better, actually go to a country like Ethiopia and see what real suffering is.
@rudabeh for me suffering is.man who today confessed that he imprisoned his daughter in an underground chamber for 24 years and fathered her seven children.Elisabeth Fritzl, 42, was raped repeatedly since being lured into the dungeon built below the family home in a small Austrian town. Police said she had been "broken" by the experience.Pictured: Inside the cellar where father locked daughter for 24 years and repeatedly raped her

Forget about me. Did you see Addis's beuty & tears?
I know heartless Komata-Tigrie-Woyanies of your kind are in a mission to destroy Addis & her people.
Sure it will take tears, hardwork & sacrifices, but at the end of the day, DETERMIND ADDIS will manage to change her tears in to smiles & laughter.
Addis will overcome this day & achieve her dreams & determined destiny, just like MY sisters, mothers, grand mothers & great-grand mothers did before her.
@BahreNeGash FIRST OF!!....i aint tigre and i do not support the ethiopian government....i am a citizen ofo that beautiful country, and people like u are trying to act like u care to break a war betweent he people of ethiopia,
AGAIN & AGAIN, this is NOT about me. This video is about ADDIS, a young girl who wanted education, instead of forced "unholy matromony".
NO MATTER HOW HARD YOUR REFUSE TO SEE ADDIS'S PLIGHT & TEARS, I feel for Addis because I've sisters, nieces, aunts, mothers, grand mothers & great grand mothers who dream, hope, cry & shed tears like ADDIS.
Therefore Addis's dream, hope, plight & tears represents the plight of the girls & women in our lives.
Let's admit the fact. YES it is your dad and my dad and grandfathers that have done that. As much as we have rich culture to be proud of we also have bad ones that i can equate them to evil. it still is going on but i believe people are learning specially the new generation. Don't get me wrong we have a long way to go when it comes to equality :) . another comment is that let's not blame the others for our own fault.
if she was from the pm ethinic she wild lead the nation because in ethiopia just bing from thr gov ethisty and you can rool the nation no need for education this is the reson 98% ethiopians the are living in the mudcate house no water no food no education if they sujest this to the rooling leadrs the ethiopian pm m.zenawie he personaly orders to be killed or raped somthing he will like because his education not morethen her..
wat ever u do u will still be ethiopian, and as much as we have some backward culture its outweighed by the goodone's. and its not there fault that they r not educated its the government and the style of living. if we all work together and actually have a leader thats free from coruption there is no dought our ethio will be back to where it was before. so don't judge the book by the cover there is so much potential in us. we just need the right leader.
America is not a cancer. You should not group ever America as somehow your enemy. Are you saying Africa-Americans want to destroy Somalia or Africa?
Americans, black or white or whatever, are a diverse group of minds, shapes, and attitudes. While American policy could be questioned, u cannot generalize attitudes.
first of all, the African-AMericans are still slaves and doesn't know a thing about the US foreign affairs. and i mean mind slaves who where ruled by white people about 300 years. and don't count the 4 months that Obama was in office caz that doesn't change a thing!
secound America is a cancer that is in every human beings life, it effects all of as. and there is no nation that likes America.
America is a human disaster and a cancer that can not be cure!
You are horribly mistaken about America. And yr comment about African-Americans is pure fascism.
America, despite its past is a democracy - more than Somalia or many African countries are and have been. America is this way b/c of the efforts of African-Americans and others who fought & died for civil rights.
It has taken us 300 or 400 years b/c of the attitudes you see in East Africa, especially Somalia and Sudan.
I suspect u are a African-American yrself and full of hatred.
first of all, i would like to start by saying that i am not an enemy of african-americans but let us not ignore the fact that the African-Americans doesn't have much power and as we know we only see the whites giving all the shots when it cames to the US- forgain policy.
they dont have much power becasue they civil right movement just happened in the 60's man. if african americans had not contributed what they did america wouldnt exist read a bit about history. Regarding african americans not having power, they may not have as much as white ppl but there spending capacity has grown, i dont know where you are from but non whites would not have the freedom to get educated as we do if it were not for the sacrifice and the hard work of african americans
no one is attacking the African Americans but what i mean is that there rich history is overshadowed by the white people and the African Americans doesn't have any power.
they may be fri but they are still mind slaves. accept the short term that obama has achieved.
secound of all, i am not from somali i am from somaliland and there is a different between this to countries and we have accomplished our goals toward democracy and peace by ourselves for the last eleven years without any foreign assistance whatsoever.
and that makes as the only country in the region that succeeded without the help of the international community.
but We have historical ties, emotional ties and trade ties stronger than ever with somalia.
Firstly, America is not a cancer but it is not an angel, this can be said for every nation on Earth. Secondly, Somaliland is not a country and has not been recognised by either the international community or the Somalian government as a country. But it is a region that is acting independently of the rest of Somalia, but it is not a country (not yet).
somaliland was a country befor it joined with the union. and we are still a country and we have full functioning government, military, police force, navy and evrything that i country has.
we are the only country in the region or in Africa that succeeded without the help of the international community or the U.S.
we are Making political relationships with the countreis in the region and that is the interest of somaliland, to establish peace in the region.
As it turns out, not a single nation in the world has recognized Somaliland, despite the fact that they have been a coherent, peaceful and remarkably democratic country for 12 years now. That didnt quite explain it for me, and so there are lots of good reasons to recognize Somaliland,
By recognizing and assisting Somaliland, the United States and its coalition partners will also show skeptical Somalis and Muslims that the war against terrorism is not a war against Somalis or Muslims, and that the United States will help those who are willing to help themselves.
do you not understand that somaliland is in reality a tribal enclave of the SNM gang warlords? there are three regions that have nothing to do with them; awdal, sool and sanaag. the qaldaan are limited to two desert spots and one port where they spread their legs for the tigre regime of meles zenawi ya boy. harGAYsa is one of the most corrupt cities in siil land and the only thing keeping them from fighting to bits is their puppet riyale from awdal.
america has done shitty things no doubt but why so much hate directed at african americans poverty is everywhere and it is hard to be successful when alot of odds are stacked up against you. its american foreign policy and the way the government instigates conflicts among ppl that should be blamed here. its corporations that have stolen resources like cofee from ethiopia that has fucked that region up and subsequently the world
if Somalia is the answer why are they killing themselves? why are more and more Somalis seeking refuge in western countries like America, Netherlands, Australia, etc? You guys need to stop with the clans bullshit and killing each other because of that. You also need to separate religion from politics or else Somalia will be a shithole forever
to pedocreep ... u knw nothng abt GREAT ISLAM, so save ur stupid thoughts for urself, alright? the only disease we knw is IGNORENCE and tht is ur problem, go and educate urself b4 u lose ur self bcos of ur ignorence.... i can say same abt christianity but i`m better than u, i dont gudge ppl based on their religion, thts our difference
think 2wice b4 such stupidity comes from ur stupid mouth.... PEACE
this is beautiful country. I see a lot of muslim criminals causing problems in your neighbor country full of pirates. you see islam is the problem..it is a disease that is disgusting.
If Ethiopia can afford to purchase war planes, tanks, BM21 Staling Organs, Mortars, Machine Guns, bombs & guns to wage wars against Oromos, Ogadinis, Amaras & Somali Ethiopians or invade Somalia & wage endless 50 years of wars against Eritrea, Ethiopia certainly can afford to build schools & guarantee every Ethiopian child gain some education that detrimental to his/her future to go to school. The question remains, what's the priority of Ethiopia, to wage wars or build schools?
What does money have to do with the issue? I have the money for a case of beer but I'm not gonna change my morals and drink it. If the people who live in this area of Ethiopia feel that women should'nt be educated, no sum of money is going to change their point of view.
Its wrong...thats why I like this cause. If the money is going to the girl, she may do something with it. Its a better thing to do than to fund a government who won't do much about it.
Money would help build schools, libraries, pay for the salary of the teachers & books for the students.
The fact is, the more there is access to resources, the more it makes it a lot easier to benefit from the resources & materials.
Though, I agree with you, governments have NO interest in educating the low class under privileged people, because government officials use the money for their own personal advantage, depriving the poor people.
she even said there was a school nearby, it is not the lack of schools it is the culture, how is throwing money at a situation going to make them send girls to school? it is a mindset not a financial problem.
Do you mean to say buying European, American, Russian,,, tanks & waging ENDLESS wars, like the English mercenaries still are waging against Irish Catholics, Scots, Wales, Australian & New Zealand Aborigines, Indians, Native Americans & Africans, is a better option than STOP BUYING ARMS, provide means, resources, re-invest & reform society?
Let me guess, decimating, displacing, tormenting, depriving & prosecuting New Zealand Aborigines is NOT a "mindset".
omg New Zealand aboriginees? learn sumthign about our country fuck wit the are Maori are they are treated better than white people in this country, they receive monetary benefits free housing and all manner of advantages white people dont recieve, we dont displace torment and prosecute them. we beat them in combat we won their land therefore we could have done whatever we wanted with them, but we gave them a better life.
stop buying arms? sorry if our nations buy weapons to defend ourselves. there is no war against catholics scots wales or the aboriginess of australia or maori. i dont think you know anything about the world, AFRICAN countries are the only ones shooting each other up for fuck sake sort your shit out.
Now, I got your blood boiling, I will let you keep barking like toothless Kangaroo, all over the page.
FYI, I have more cultural, traditional, spiritual & geographical connection to the Bible MORE than any White man ever lived. I've NO reason to attack the Bible.
But, you can NOT defend the crimes of your ancestors committed in the name of the Bible, therefore, you are just diverting the blame, as usual.
crimes? last time i checked taking over other nations as an act of war is not criminal. we won therefore we decide the rules, and our rules say we did nothing wrong therefore there are no crimes to defend against thankyou goodbye. and religion is bullshit.
Right on BahreNegash give that Heathen some knowledge. Their rule is just about up. don't be mad at him though, leave the judgement to the Most High Yah, and it is coming and it is very soon! HalleLuYah!
Isn't it amazing to see those who have been invading, occupying, kidnapping, enslaving & massacring the Jews, Gypsies, Armens, Arabs, Africans, Aborigines, Red Indians, Asians, Irish Catholics, Scots, Wales & every human creed on the planet for 3000 years, preaching Gospel & moral values?
Too bad, they can NOT fool all the people all of the time. Therefore, they are just having hard time accepting the fact that, the days of their sadistic empires has been over for a while now.
How can I did NOT get to see African soldiers in Falkland Island wars, Georgian-Russian wars, Iraqi-Afghanistan-Pakistan wars, British protestant-catholic wars. I wonder why?
What an Idiot?
Did you say, the English Kings & Queens who have been waging 1000 years of wars against the Irish, Scots, Wales etc,,, "are born to the position & has no power"?
Let's ask their victims & see what they had to say,,,,
lol you are an idiot, i say the queen is born into he position (which is true) and no she has no power these days. wtf are you smoking you are confusing the past with the present and not for thousands of years you fucking dip shit monkey, england never went to war with anyone untill 1066AD when william cromwell invaded and after the conquering of britain the royal family was established. the queen isnt even english she is of german descent. its not the english u should be pissed with.
its the people who invaded the english and took control ie, the normans and the romans and vikings they are the ones that turned england into a monarchy that became so powefull it could destroy those who crossed them. you are not a victim if you provoke attack or dont do as you are told by your superiors. lol i find it interesting that all those wars were fought by TWO sides both parties are involved and both parties caused the problem not just the english.learn history and objective perspective
EVERY EMPIRE HAS EXPIRATION DATE, LIKE SPOLIED MILK. So will your English royal-masters.
Remember,
the Roman empire, Russian Czars, Chinese kings, Japanese empires, German Nazis,,,,Every genocidal empire has justified it's crime against humanity, convinient to it's own wicke-sadist agenda.
AND, EVERY DOG HAS HIS OWN DAY,
Therefore, enjoy the party before you end up like Roman empire & Russian czars.
I agree with you the Crown, "instigated the rift between Irish", just like the Romans used CRUSADERS to "DIVIDE, CONQUER & EXPAND" it's empire.
Therefore, the British Crown DIVIDED & INFLAMMED the Catholics, Protestants & Evangelicals to FOMENT HATE & WAR to control Ireland, Scotland, Wales,,etc.
YES, Empires are kept in power by fomenting animosity among the very citizens the empires claim to rule.
Sadly, the Irish are NOT the only victim of the British Crown.
The Eritrean government and its supporters in the Diaspora are preparing to celebrate Independence Day as usual, with impressive pomp and pageantry. Eritrea, however, still remains a nation of fleeing masses and is one of the main generators of refugees in the continent. According to official UNHCR statistics, over 15,000 Eritreans fled to the Sudan during 2007 alone. The exact number of Eritrean refugees in the Sudan is unknown. Estimated figures ranging 130,000-250,000
hese refugees risk their lives by fleeing over heavily-mined borders, tightly patrolled by over 200,000 soldiers who have strict instructions to use machine gun fire on anyone trying to slip over the border. It may be true that recipient states and international relief organizations tend to inflate the number of refugees somewhat in order to secure a sympathetic response from donor governments; conversely, the Eritrean regime admits not the existence of a single Eritrean refugee
If these Eritreans are fleeing to Sudan and the Sudanese are oppressing the Africans, is it safe to assume the Eritreans aren't helping the situation?
I don't even know if agame refers to Ethiopian or Eriterian but which ever the case is This video is made my THE GIRL EFFECT a global company trying to make a difference. So just don't be a hatter and the first to point out mistakes for once try to make something helpful

qiqiq..you are too funny to be ertrian!you shabian think who ever against you is agame.....retarded! dig a litle further to know me! I am done with youbecause you seemingly your incurable malignant tumor takeks your unproductive dry land nation 400 years bake and forced you to live like your hominidal(homo sapien) ancestors.
Agames, If you Ethiopia can afford to purchase war planes, tanks, BM21 Staling Organs, Mortars, Machine Guns, bombs & guns to wage wars against Oromos, Ogadinis, Amaras & Somali Ethiopians or invade Somalia & wage endless 50 years of wars against Eritrea, Ethiopia certainly can afford to build schools & guarantee every Ethiopian child gain some education that detrimental to his/her future to go to school. first of all it is an offense for Ethiopian when someone like you, who lost his/HER tiny nation try to give this kinda of advise. Believe me we wont stop until WE MAKE SURE YOU RATS ARE BANISHED FROM OUR PORTS AND LANDS....BTW I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO COPY YOUR ABOVE COMMENT AND SEND TO YOUR MASTER ISSAYASS( the king until death).
Eritreans heard it all before & the more you bark like a toothless dog, the more Eritreans know you are paranoid.
Agame, go save your little Tigray before the Eritreans, Ethiopians, Somalis sandwich Tigray to eternity. For now, enjoy your paranoid "glory", knowing that the end might come sooner than you expected.
This backward culture in ethiopia has to stop. No more young girls getting merried at a young age etc.
For those nuckleheads arguing about everything from development to Ethio-Eri history. Please stop, where are you getting all this from a one minute video.
Agame, Again, Addis's problem is NOT her husband alone. Her problems are morons like you & paranoid ethnic minority Tigrie government spending billions of dollars on purchasing weapons & too busy waging wars but could NOT defend, protect & guarantee the EQUAL RIGHTS of it's citizens, like Addis, to gain basic education & a life time opportunity. If the Tigrie government can protect the rights of Addis to go to school, her husband would NOT dare to stop her from going to school. Got it?
i am 97% Tigre 3% eri which i am ashmed of. usual shabia poison-Amhara empire no such thing. chronologically ancestry reflect a time of 50,or > years. then u were Italian colonized slave, since then to about 15 years ago u were under us, so how shabia bury my ancestor? you met your objective because of woyane; when woyane control provinces u were confined in nakefa so who helped who. Eritreans thinking is so distorted & no wonder why always get under someone.
Zabatsion, The video was about Girls being deprived from gaining education, a life-time potential opportunity. Instead of standing up for Addis, you choose to defend woyanies waging wars against Ethiopians, Eritreans & Somalis. But, all along I knew you were Agame defending your Agame bosses in Minilik Palace & NOT rooting out for Addis's unfortunate predicament. Go ahead cry your heart out against shaebia, but that's NOT going to help you fell any better about your ethnic inferiority complex.
having a school near by was not a problem, but husband- 4 the record i despise woyanes. my contention , on your 1st remark you gave a political overtone remark by relating military expenditure to it, so the message was- Ethiopians r bad. In the 2nd remark u said amahara empire etc there has never been amhara empire per se, u were echoing shabias song, that is dull your mindset thinks based on ethnicity rather than socio-political structures of governments.
Addis, It breaks my heart to see you in tears, for simply seeking to go to school. I wish I lived around your neighborhood to dry your tears. I want you to know I'm on your side. YES Addis, Go to school. It's sad to see Ethiopia spending billions of dollars in purchasing military weapons, ( from those false Messiahs who preach about civil/human rights, God, Christianity & democracy, than building schools to it's deserving people like Addis), depriving millions of Ethiopians basic education,
I've always asked that quesiton. Not just Ethiopia, other African nations. Why all of this money towards building up the military and purchasing weapons---when your people are sick and poor adn starving! Don't they seek prosperity? Don't they understand that prosperity is not decided on the battlefield any longer, but in the marketplace? The world is economically driven but Africa has failed to understand the truth of this.
No ones saying that you need to eliminate spending on national defense. I am saying that you need to allocate more money for education and Ethiopia needs to adopt a far more progressive attitude towards education.
Show me some statistics that say your education is improving. Your potentate is autocratic in the administration of his government. Ethiopia remains dirt poor, your HDI (human development index) is 169th out of 179. Hasn't improved much in Zenawai's tenure, has it?
Limited resources? So does Japan and much of Asia.
I'm not attacking Ethiopia, but its a great testament to the fact that Africa does not have it together. It starts in the classroom.
Baher, Addis's problem was not getting school, you heard her saying there was school near by her. so her problem was the man she married who prevent her from going school. yet you connect army budget with school.i don't support woyne but shabia should be elimnated you need $ for it
Zabastion, Shabia burried your ancestors in Eritrean graveyards, defeating three Ethiopian "governments" to achieve Eritrean independence. In fact, I'm sure you already know, Shaebia trained, armed & crowned your woyanie masters to Minilik Palace, getting rid of the Amara empire that has been bleeding Ethiopia, Eritrea & Somalia for decades.
Therefore, crying against shaebia on the Internet might make you feel better but it is NOT going to help you recover your lost pride.
As for Addis, her problems is NOT her husnband alone. Her problems are morons like you & medieval governmment too busy waging wars but could NOT legislate, enforce, protect & quarantee the EQUAL RIGHTS of their citizens, like Addis.
i am 97% Tigre 3% eri which i am ashmed of. usual shabia poison-Amhara empire no such thing. chronologically ancestry reflect a time of 50,or > years. then u were Italian colonized slave, since then to about 15 years ago u were under us, so how shabia bury my ancestor? you met your objective because of woyane; when woyane control provinces u were confined in nakefa so who helped who. Eritreans thinking is so distorted & no wonder why always get under someone.
Abasha princess. She's more educated than half the globe (including the US) because she knows she wants education. We in the states spend out lives trying to knock down the educated elites in their ivory towers.
either you are extremely evil, jealous, or racist to say such a comment. They are so extremely beautiful inside and out and you are a nasty jerk. don't hate on what is blessed. God Bless You.
SHE is drop dead gorgeous. naturally, beautiful. now thats true beauty! no make up nor nasty plastic surgery of western culture. She should be a supermodel

THE ORIGINS OF TPLF
BY AREGAWI BERHE
"Emulating the Eritrean movement as a courageous challenge, many Tigray elements had, since 1970, been forming groups that contemplated an armed struggle to assert the rights of the Tigrayans for equality and fair treatment. The TPLF undertook a working relationship with the Eritrean front, the EPLF".

this is a very serious video. please keep your own agendas off here. We, Ethiopians don't feel superior or inferior to anyone. We're proud people, but equality is something we feel at all times. So lets jump off the racism topic and focus back on the youth who are in a troubling situations, especially the girls who have no options. Please don't be selfish.

@pbl826
What is "WHITE" about the woman in the video? Are you referring to her so-called "fine" facial features?
Why can't Caucasians get it through their heads that if an indigenous African people have features that are identical or similar to theirs, then they (the Caucasians) have the Africans' features -- not the other way around?
PurePressure999 1 year ago 2
@PurePressure999 This is one way to look at it, but I think what PBL was trying to emphasize was the fact that the differences between black and white are so minimal. You seem to be saying black is superior to white, and many whites say white is superior to black, but the point is that niether statement is true, and the two races have more in common than they do separating them. People who try to highlight the differences are racists (both black AND white), let's all celebrate the similarities.
dingo7055 1 year ago
@dingo7055
Where does superiority come into play?

this video is missing a bit of context, although from the sounds of it she is talking about her marriage & her husband not letting her go to school... the explanation & translation of her marriage was that it happened when she was 11, she went to church "like usual" and that they asked her to "wear these clothes" and "say this, say that"...
sounds more like they tricked her rather than forced her per say... of course being 11 years old, there not a lot of difference.
faithfuljohn 1 year ago
@faithfuljohn
Did you say that it "sounds more like they tricked her rather than forced her"?
Are you out of your mind?
If she is left with NO options but to do EXACTLY what she is being told to do,,, how is she NOT forced????
BahreNeGash 1 year ago 2
@BahreNeGash Granted the diff in reality is next to zero for someone in her position. Remember though, she did get a divorce, so she did have some choice in this society. But the difference between the two is that one is deceiving her to get her married vs blackmailing her (by coersion). When one blackmails deception is unnecessary. My aunt (by marriage) had this happen to her (by her family) when my uncle proposed marriage. She could have said no, but the consequences would have been bad.
faithfuljohn 1 year ago
@faithfuljohn
How did an 11 years old girl gets married in the first place?
BahreNeGash 1 year ago
@BahreNeGash listen i was simply clarifying the translation. It was not accurate. In Canada (where I live now) the fact that she's 11 means that there is no legal difference between coersion & trickery. I've venture to guess even if she was 31, you shouldn't be able to trick someone into marriage. AND I AGREE WITH THIS.
I was trying to clarify the difference. Not justify it.
faithfuljohn 1 year ago
@faithfuljohn
FORCING 11 years old girl to marry is kidnapping & rape, because she is a child.
BahreNeGash 1 year ago
@BahreNeGash
Not sure how many ways you want me to say this, but I agree.
I agree. I agree. I agree.
That doesn't change the translation.
faithfuljohn 1 year ago
@faithfuljohn
Thank you for making it clear.
Now, the girl's dream is to go to school.
Therefore, why NOT help the girl to regain her self-esteem, self-confidence & help her go to school, to over come all the truama she have been living through?
BahreNeGash 1 year ago
@BahreNeGash
I'm glad we've come to that understanding... but I'm curious, do you look for fights? Cause I never made a statement either way about helping/not helping her.
faithfuljohn 1 year ago
@faithfuljohn
No, I'm NOT interested in picking up fights.
BahreNeGash 1 year ago
@BahreNeGash
True. But the sad reality is that they likely wont. What we can do is support projects & ideas like these to help re-balance the scale. And all this talk is great, but unless it results in action (by me and/or you) it is a waste & means almost nothing.
faithfuljohn 1 year ago
@faithfuljohn
I agree with you there's a NEED for immidiate action to stop this child-sex-slavery.

this is a silly video.

Than we have another set of social problems.
simonlives 1 year ago
@BahreNeGash

"When we opened our eyes, the White man ended up having our land & we ended up having the White man's Bible, but lost our land to the White man". Bishop Desmond Tutu,

America, despite its past is a democracy - more than Somalia or many African countries are and have been. America is this way b/c of the efforts of African-Americans and others who fought & died for civil rights.
It has taken us 300 or 400 years b/c of the attitudes you see in East Africa, especially Somalia and Sudan.

they dont have much power becasue they civil right movement just happened in the 60's man. if african americans had not contributed what they did america wouldnt exist read a bit about history.

RobynDolly 2 years ago
somaliland was a country befor it joined with the union. and we are still a country and we have full functioning government, military, police force, navy and evrything that i country has.
we are the only country in the region or in Africa that succeeded without the help of the international community or the U.S.
we are Making political relationships with the countreis in the region and that is the interest of somaliland, to establish peace in the region.
geesiiga 2 years ago
As it turns out, not a single nation in the world has recognized Somaliland, despite the fact that they have been a coherent, peaceful and remarkably democratic country for 12 years now. That didnt quite explain it for me, and so there are lots of good reasons to recognize Somaliland,
geesiiga 2 years ago
By recognizing and assisting Somaliland, the United States and its coalition partners will also show skeptical Somalis and Muslims that the war against terrorism is not a war against Somalis or Muslims, and that the United States will help those who are willing to help themselves.
geesiiga 2 years ago
do you not understand that somaliland is in reality a tribal enclave of the SNM gang warlords? there are three regions that have nothing to do with them; awdal, sool and sanaag. the qaldaan are limited to two desert spots and one port where they spread their legs for the tigre regime of meles zenawi ya boy. harGAYsa is one of the most corrupt cities in siil land and the only thing keeping them from fighting to bits is their puppet riyale from awdal.

america has done shitty things no doubt but why so much hate directed at african americans poverty is everywhere and it is hard to be successful when alot of odds are stacked up against you. its american foreign policy and the way the government instigates conflicts among ppl that should be blamed here. its corporations that have stolen resources like cofee from ethiopia that has fucked that region up and subsequently the world
Adagio2424 2 years ago
if Somalia is the answer why are they killing themselves? why are more and more Somalis seeking refuge in western countries like America, Netherlands, Australia, etc? You guys need to stop with the clans bullshit and killing each other because of that. You also need to separate religion from politics or else Somalia will be a shithole forever

Not to say education is stimulated enough, but BahreNeGash, think!
Ethiopia is trying to maintain stability, where the African Union is falling short.
If you want to blame, try USA..... THey can afford to drop billions on Irak a day, what do they put in developement?
"fucksomalia" <- what is your issue? Ignoring a vicious dog is wiser than calling it names!

BahreNeGash 2 years ago
What does money have to do with the issue? I have the money for a case of beer but I'm not gonna change my morals and drink it. If the people who live in this area of Ethiopia feel that women should'nt be educated, no sum of money is going to change their point of view.
Its wrong...thats why I like this cause. If the money is going to the girl, she may do something with it. Its a better thing to do than to fund a government who won't do much about it.
chandnip3 2 years ago
Chandnip,
Money would help build schools, libraries, pay for the salary of the teachers & books for the students.
The fact is, the more there is access to resources, the more it makes it a lot easier to benefit from the resources & materials.
Though, I agree with you, governments have NO interest in educating the low class under privileged people, because government officials use the money for their own personal advantage, depriving the poor people.
Then, the cycle goes on & on & on ,,,

@BahreNeGash
she even said there was a school nearby, it is not the lack of schools it is the culture, how is throwing money at a situation going to make them send girls to school? it is a mindset not a financial problem.
boarderx113 2 years ago
Boarder,
Do you mean to say buying European, American, Russian,,, tanks & waging ENDLESS wars, like the English mercenaries still are waging against Irish Catholics, Scots, Wales, Australian & New Zealand Aborigines, Indians, Native Americans & Africans, is a better option than STOP BUYING ARMS, provide means, resources, re-invest & reform society?
Let me guess, decimating, displacing, tormenting, depriving & prosecuting New Zealand Aborigines is NOT a "mindset".
Is it?
BahreNeGash 2 years ago
omg New Zealand aboriginees? learn sumthign about our country fuck wit the are Maori are they are treated better than white people in this country, they receive monetary benefits free housing and all manner of advantages white people dont recieve, we dont displace torment and prosecute them. we beat them in combat we won their land therefore we could have done whatever we wanted with them, but we gave them a better life.
boarderx113 2 years ago
stop buying arms? sorry if our nations buy weapons to defend ourselves. there is no war against catholics scots wales or the aboriginess of australia or maori. i dont think you know anything about the world, AFRICAN countries are the only ones shooting each other up for fuck sake sort your shit out.

BahreNeGash 2 years ago
crimes? last time i checked taking over other nations as an act of war is not criminal. we won therefore we decide the rules, and our rules say we did nothing wrong therefore there are no crimes to defend against thankyou goodbye. and religion is bullshit.

Boarder, Hey pink-ass-pig,
How can I did NOT get to see African soldiers in Falkland Island wars, Georgian-Russian wars, Iraqi-Afghanistan-Pakistan wars, British protestant-catholic wars. I wonder why?
What an Idiot?
Did you say, the English Kings & Queens who have been waging 1000 years of wars against the Irish, Scots, Wales etc,,, "are born to the position & has no power"?
Let's ask their victims & see what they had to say,,,,
BahreNeGash 2 years ago
lol you are an idiot, i say the queen is born into he position (which is true) and no she has no power these days. wtf are you smoking you are confusing the past with the present and not for thousands of years you fucking dip shit monkey, england never went to war with anyone untill 1066AD when william cromwell invaded and after the conquering of britain the royal family was established. the queen isnt even english she is of german descent. its not the english u should be pissed with.
boarderx113 2 years ago
its the people who invaded the english and took control ie, the normans and the romans and vikings they are the ones that turned england into a monarchy that became so powefull it could destroy those who crossed them. you are not a victim if you provoke attack or dont do as you are told by your superiors. lol i find it interesting that all those wars were fought by TWO sides both parties are involved and both parties caused the problem not just the english.learn history and objective perspective

AND, EVERY DOG HAS HIS OWN DAY,

@JAKEWORLEY
Jake,
I agree with you the Crown, "instigated the rift between Irish", just like the Romans used CRUSADERS to "DIVIDE, CONQUER & EXPAND" it's empire.
BahreNeGash 1 year ago
@JAKEWORLEY
Jake,
The Roman Philosopher & Dramatist siad,,, "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false & by the rulers as useful".
Therefore, besides the British crown, ALL rulers have ALWAYS been using "religion" as a very useful intstrument to conquer a nation.
Sadley, millions of lives perish in the name of religion.

Estimated figures ranging 130,000-250,000
fucksomalia 2 years ago
hese refugees risk their lives by fleeing over heavily-mined borders, tightly patrolled by over 200,000 soldiers who have strict instructions to use machine gun fire on anyone trying to slip over the border.

Agame, Again, Addis's problem is NOT her husband alone. Her problems are morons like you & paranoid ethnic minority Tigrie government spending billions of dollars on purchasing weapons & too busy waging wars but could NOT defend, protect & guarantee the EQUAL RIGHTS of it's citizens, like Addis, to gain basic education & a life time opportunity. If the Tigrie government can protect the rights of Addis to go to school, her husband would NOT dare to stop her from going to school. Got it?

Zabatsion, The video was about Girls being deprived from gaining education, a life-time potential opportunity.

YES Addis, Go to school. It's sad to see Ethiopia spending billions of dollars in purchasing military weapons, ( from those false Messiahs who preach about civil/human rights, God, Christianity & democracy, than building schools to it's deserving people like Addis), depriving millions of Ethiopians basic education,
BahreNeGash 2 years ago
I've always asked that quesiton. Not just Ethiopia, other African nations. Why all of this money towards building up the military and purchasing weapons---when your people are sick and poor adn starving! Don't they seek prosperity? Don't they understand that prosperity is not decided on the battlefield any longer, but in the marketplace? The world is economically driven but Africa has failed to understand the truth of this.

EthioJegna5 2 years ago
Show me some statistics that say your education is improving. Your potentate is autocratic in the administration of his government. Ethiopia remains dirt poor, your HDI (human development index) is 169th out of 179. Hasn't improved much in Zenawai's tenure, has it?
Limited resources? So does Japan and much of Asia.
I'm not attacking Ethiopia, but its a great testament to the fact that Africa does not have it together. It starts in the classroom.
JamalDOA 2 years ago
Baher, Addis's problem was not getting school, you heard her saying there was school near by her. so her problem was the man she married who prevent her from going school. yet you connect army budget with school.i don't support woyne but shabia should be elimnated you need $ for it
Zabatsion 2 years ago 2
Zabastion, Shabia burried your ancestors in Eritrean graveyards, defeating three Ethiopian "governments" to achieve Eritrean independence. In fact, I'm sure you already know, Shaebia trained, armed & crowned your woyanie masters to Minilik Palace, getting rid of the Amara empire that has been bleeding Ethiopia, Eritrea & Somalia for decades.
Therefore, crying against shaebia on the Internet might make you feel better but it is NOT going to help you recover your lost pride.
