Happened with two different boxes Ive tried this on.

I know because I am a rill component level repair man with years of military experience repairing all the flight navigation, stabilization and on board computers for all the helicopters.

  • hey guys.. my xbox broke and i tried to fix it. Had no luck. i was gunna send it to microsoft but $140 is 2 much. A good website that can fix your 360 is xboxrepairsandstuff(.)tk oh btw they fix it for only $30.

  • Gay ass fuckin vid too, it dosen't even show any kind of repair being done

  • You wouldent be doing this with a PS3 lololol ha ha ha ha ha, you stupid fuckin X-Box people, Bill Gates is lounging by his big ass pool right now with his cock out calling all of ya'll suckers!!!! ha ha ha ha ha PlayStation 3 For Ever!!!

  • EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!

  • so do i take it apart then leave it for a bit then put it back together and it should work ?

  • fart.

  • So what is the ultimate cause of the red rings of death? Is it because the system thinks it's overheating? Mine doesn't even give the introductory green flashes at all. Just the power light comes on and then I get three blinking red lights. My power cord has a green light but I have three blinking red lights. I don't want to send it to some tech place and my warranty has expired with Microsoft so I'm being a do-it-yourself-er even though I'm not tech savvy and know NOTHING about computors.

  • i did this and tried it without the plastic on and it worked! but then i put the plastic on and now it doesn't work... any ideas?

  • @11wesley11 the issue is system over heating. xbox is made like a desktop computer but with a lot less ventilation. (see the problem?) and Microsoft is is too cheap to make it properly. In any case the plastic reduces the ventilation and make the system over heat again. try other methods such as the penny trick which works sometimes. or u can redo the heat sink, which is more involved process.

  • @qbo412 i got it. after like a month it messed up again, i fixed it again.

  • that didnot work for me

  • Thank you for your help buddy! And also thank you for flying the good old Irish name! Erin Go Bragh! :)

  • Thanks alot it worked great!!!!!!!!!

  • i tried this and it didnt work

  • so all you need to do is make it over heat so it shuts up about the 3 lights? lol nice

  • i also took the motherboard out and put a deeper heat sink on the bottom 4 chips and applied silicon heat paste since they we not getting any ventilation. All this keeped my going for a year. you might as well buy another xbox.

  • k about a year i ago i was doing this on my own but i didnt put the case back on in order for the motherboard to air out. i also moved the the dvd drive on the with funnel for the fan so that the cpu and gpu heat sinks could airate better. although this fix works good over time like the towel trick the time of the fix gets lower and lower the more times u do it. when i do the same thing this guy does my xbox now lasts 5 mins apoused to the past where it lasted weeks.

  • Comment removed

  • my xbox turns on with red ring then after about 3 sec it changes to 2 lights ,so now i ask wut de fuk

  • that means the 360 thinks its overheating try putting some thermal paste on the cpu could fix your problem, its fixed mine in the past

  • THANK U!!!! Nice shirt btw!

  • it works!!!!! its like the towel trick but it dosnt burn ur mother board up ... but in like a week or its going to get 3 red rings again.. u just have to keep doing it.. because i did it to mine... finally ur going to do it so much that the xbox is just going to stay on 3 red rings and theres going to be no way to fix it

  • guys i think i fucked my xbox up.i had 2 red rings and fixed it with thermal paste but now i have 3 red rings.but they come on IMMEDIATELY as i hit the power button..doesnt even give it a chance...its like 3 red lights within a second of hitting the power button.doesnt seem like the normal red light :( help plzzzz!

  • i did all that and it still red rings what do i need to do

  • you need to overheat it before you use it again toke... and it never permanently fixes it... it always comes back unless you use a bigger heatsink or liquid cool it

  • so if i buy some of that cleaner and paste and a one of those new heat sinks thats all big and put that on there that should do it

  • is this a permanent fix, or just a temporary one?

  • thanks man that shit fuckin works and its very easy

  • no no, i mean, whats the best way to keep the xbox from over heating, best ventalation....standing, or laying down

  • what is the beest way to have your xbox, layin down, or standing up?? please help, i just got mine back from repair because of the rrod, dont want it to happen again<< thanks!!

  • well i did it layin down i took everything apart like this guy. well what im tryin to say is it worked for me. i havent played my xbox in like 1 month. DO EXACTLY what this guy says.

  • I Added The Heat Sink And replace the X Clamps But WHen I turn On My Xbox I Hear It Turn On But I see No Light Coming Out On The Power button Can SUmone Please Tell me Whats the Problem?

  • thanks alot mate i fixed my 360 because of you

  • Try 2 turn it on and open thing whre u put the game close it turn it on again. plss try :|

  • aye it worked 4 me chees m8 =}

  • thank youu =]

  • its 2 diffrent xboxs u lil mug

  • And how would you know this?

  • worked for me ta

  • WTF.... DID YOU DO TO IT ???? I let mines overheat and shyt and it still red.... none of these videos actually work... i have gotten no results

  • Why don't you just send it to microsoft and get it fixed professionally, I mean it's free and even if you get RROD Microsoft have a 3 year extended warranty for that.

  • for ppl with this problem after you fix this get a cooling fan and it shouldnt do it again or if you dont have this problem get a cooling fan anyway to prevent this problem to cause overheating to not occur

  • thanks ......

  • i have the same computer!:)

  • u hav 2 do it every day it dosnt fix it its just so u can play on it for day day

  • so you just let it over heat and plugged it back in?

  • Dude you are legendary thanks a mil, it fixed my 3 rings of death

  • Just buy a playstation 3, simple.

  • You cannot play Fable II or Culdcept Saga or Ninja Gaiden II or Halo Wars or Halo 3 or a whole slew of other RTS games, Star OCean Last Hope, Gears of WAr... etc on PS3 so whats the point?

  • for free shitty laggy japanese internet

  • what happens six weeks later?

  • 1 it wasn't my xbox

2 we don't all have an extra couple hundred bucks laying around - in fact i'd be willing to bet that most people, including myself, don't

  • DONT DO THIS!!!!!that is definetly the worst thing you could possibly do to your xbox. the rrod is caused by heat melting the soldier connecting the gpu and cpu making them come loose and lose connection to the motherboard causeing the rrod. DONT DO THIS!!

  • funny i would have thought the worst thing you could do to it would be soaking it in kerosene, lighting it on fire, and then throwing it off a tall building

  • thanks man...this work...but we soner or later...we're gonna need more thermal paste

  • if you need thermal paste arctic silver 5 is excellent i used it when i built my computer keeps the CPU cool

  • @ARMYstrong419 im sorry but i dont understand how overheating the system is suposed to fix it. could you explain that to me

  • can i ask...when u turned it on with motherboard on show...had u unplugged the fan, so it was playing with NO fan?

  • it over heats so fast as there is a temp device in the cpu chip the xbox will switch 2 2 red lights in about 5 this way leaving no heat goin through it to over heat the gpu chip and reset the solder joints to board this is temp fix at best better is to rest fan on top of cpu and cook gpu for 20 mins while cpu "thinks" xbox is cool

  • i just think ppl have to take better care of there shit...and for the ppl that have it....just send it the fuck in...

  • it has nothing to do with you taking good care of it the 360s are messed up. if it was a user problem microsoft wouldn't fix it for free. it takes weeks to get it fixed and it has to be purchased after a certain date or they won't touch it. this was an old xbox 360 so sending it in wasn't an option

  • what about the people without warranty

  • exactly

  • u guys are morons u only do this is u get 3 lights not 1

  • dude just do the towel trick itll help your xbox run for a while whhile you search for the vids that help you

  • Not a good idea, that causes more damage than it fixes.

  • Dude um how about no! NOOB thats the worst fix and you get a few minutes out of it.

  • obviously you're wrong because that xbox still works today...

  • It didn't work for me... I cleaned everything off... and I let it overheat. I unplugged it, entered the fan and plugged it back in. Still had the RROD. ???? Help?

  • weird.. first of all i had 1 red light then when i tryed over heating it i had 2 red lights then when i tryed again i got 3 red lights then then i tured it on... it started working (?WTF?)

  • yeah 1 red .. i had taht

  • this worked thx saved me some time having microsoft fix it

  • i hope this works im doing it right now

and at 2:13 why does someone say stop ignoring me? lol ;]

  • dude thanks i fixed mine the day it got the rrod

  • i need a tork t10 screwdriver to open the case to flash my xbox 360. Can you get them at homedepot or lowes or any other hardware store.

  • yes i got a tool set at walmart that had them in it.

  • that has nothing to do with why it breaks, and this system was 2 years old...played hours every day...and microsoft would have fixed it for free

  • hahaha he whispers stop ignoring me to someone, hes messaging

  • why do you whisper "shit" at 1.45? were you not expecting the 3 lights or something

  • no it was something completely unrelated lol

  • Thanks for this. Helped with my XO.

  • a family of spiders were living inside my xbox.

    i killed all them..then my xbox 360 worked.lol..

  • lol wtf, wouldent the spiders be toast

  • hay good video . Had 3 rings i did x-clamp fix . When turn my 360 back on

its shows 3 rings for sec then goes straight

    to 2 rings

what am i doing wrong please reply

  • My 360 froze and then RROD'd when I tried to start it up again. It started one time after that without RRODing but then became 'permanent'.

I pulled it apart, cleaned the CPU and GPU dies, reapplied thermal compound and it still RROD'd. I "baked" it the same way as done in this video by disconnecting the fans and then waiting til it's 2-RROD'd for 2 minutes.

    All worked perfectly after that.

  • thanks dude, we already gave up. this was our last attempt to fix the thing. Turned out.. it worked! my dad almost gave me a heart attack when he yelled THERE IS GOES!!!!!!

  • ya dude me and my cousin took my 360 apart a few days ago and did some modding.. and the GPU and CPU heat sinks were covered in dust . so i took a vacuum succer thing and sucked it all out.. looks new..

  • ok idk what happen to mine but i was playing it this morning and it was fine i came home like 5 hours later to play it and 3 red flashing lights happend im like wdf it happend be4 like 3-2 times i fixed it now i have no clue how to how can it break when i was just playing it and then i come home its broke and it was impossible for it to overheat since i got 2 fans on it

  • Good job buddy worked perfectly over heated in like 3-4 minutes for me so nice... love ya man!

  • did u charge ur friend lol nice vid though

  • how ironic i had my xbox cleaned so that it won't overheat now i have to make it overheat to fix it all again :(

  • you said you unplugged the fan to overheat the system AFTER you took the console apart & that this is faster than other methods you've seen online???LOL what about the time it takes to take it apart & then reasemble it???

  • I took the console apart to clean it if you just overhead the damn thing you didn't really solve anything. the dust all over the heat sink and GPU needed to be cleaned off

  • why would it need a new fan? I already told him to buy the external fan to help keep it cool though :)

  • All you did actually was remelt the solder from extra heat. it will fail again. It needs the extra heatsink , new fan, gpu and mb.

  • well that depends on why it rrods, theres a dozen different reasons for it to fail. Replacing the thermal paste, fixing solder are a few
