  • i don't think it matters if this was based on something in real life or not because i can garantee that something similar to this has happened many times in the real world and it almost happened to me.

as for her not telling anyone she would have wanted to get close to someone first before she talked about her problems and she just didn't have an oppitunity for that.

every time she smiled it would have been a lie and over the years of being ignored lying would have second nature to her

  • There Is No Good Reason To Commit Suicide, But There Is Infinite Reasons To Hate Your Life. Anxiety Is A Silent Killer Whether If It's In A Teen Or Adult, Different Situations, Same Outcomes. Life Is Difficult...

  • Too many people are lost because we live in a society which allows us to think of suicide as an option when things go pear-shaped. I still remember an interview with a guy suffering from depression who talks about how when this dark cloud of pain, confusion and torment fills him, he acknowledges it, let's it through and when it passes, he moves on and continues living his life. This is what we are meant to be teaching our children--how to cope, manage and to keep it real

  • But what I don't get is at the very end of the credits when it says '[...] and events are fictional' - wasn't this BASED on a real event? I don't get that. Why not just put 'Based (or 'partly based') on a true story' at the end? Kind of confusing to me...

  • @thedancingqueen24x7: I think she meant it in a way that since she died, she is free from her problems as to her (melody) who has to live with the fact she was raped by her brother...

  • everyone at one point of there life have felt hopeless. This is a movie everyone should watch..

  • @trulynot I have seen so many fucking counsellors and shit, I'm sick of it.

  • I got one word ..

    deep and meaningful ..

  • i dont understand the end when melody says "she was lucky.. really lucky.." for what?

  • I want death now. I want to slit my wrists, overdose and hang myself, just to make sure I die.

  • @whatevertitle Maybe go see a counselor first.

  • This movie was extremely well acted and well shot, especially for being a student film. It had a strong message, the characters had depth and forwardness, and I did not see the ending coming. I don't know if I will ever watch this movie again, but for what its worth it left an impression.

  • I loved this movie. Because during the movie you try to figure out who it is. You don't even notice her. Making the message strong. Now I'm not going to say what that message is. I'll let you interperate that.

  • Such a good ending. I started out thinking it was just another movie about teenage problems but the message at the end made it so much more.

  • wow. this movie sure packs a punch. very well made and kept me going. i felt soo sorry for the lass that killed herself. seemed such a nice lass. also highlights how much bullying is common place in schools.

  • whats the song at the end called?

  • @Blaaarghism You mean the piano solo? It´s Gymnopédie No.1 written by Eric Satie.

  • a truly beautiful movie, south australia doing us proud

  • Sometimes the people with the worst problems aren't the ones shouting them in the streets. We all need to watch out for one another, you never know what other people might be going through.

  • @ninjapenguin08 "We all need to watch out for one another" - that made me smile. :) It's so true. I think a lot of us feel like Kelly sometimes.

  • was this a hit in Australia or something i've never herd of it?

  • I think Kelly had other problems, besides being alone and that the movie just didn't show what they were.

  • Okay, really, you have to lose a lot more blood than she did, to die. When I did that, I lost a hell of a lot more blood than that and I was still concious. Fucking ay, talk to a doctor, and you'd know you have to lose 4-6 cups of blood to die.

Just sayin'. That just irks me.

  • @jayceebee7 well, i mean maybe u can handle more than she can... and plus at the beginning of the movie, u notice how the blood is coming through the outside of the door, so maybe she lost alot more blood than we could actually see...

  • I think I cried in each part of this movie..

  • Don't get me wrong, this was a very powerful movie. Especially considering it was made for under a million dollars. But really? I won't give away the ending, but it wasn't realistic at all. Individuals who are that physically attractive do not have problems with being noticed. That particular character could have found love, and easily. They would have definitely been noticed, loved, and cared for by other people.

  • @SgtOptimus theres a difference between being noticed and being interacted with, and accepted. If anything thats the whole point of the movie: not objectifying people, for any reason. Everyone no matter what they look like, how they act, whatever quirks they may have needs relationships, and acceptance.

  • @SgtOptimus are you that shallow it doesnt matter how you look every body has inner problems they might not show them they might put on a brave face but when it comes to it they feel empty inside . Sure they might have friends but you still feel like the only person in the world. im sorry if you dont like this comment but you cant judge people just on how they look.

  • @SgtOptimus are you that shallow it doesnt matter how you look every body has inner problems they might not show them they might put on a brave face but when it comes to it they feel empty inside . • @205471 I don't like your comment because you obviously fail to see the realism in what I said. When you can comprehend what I say about mediocre movies, go ahead and reply to me.

  • @SgtOptimus what?? ur comment doesn't even make sense, its not about looks and whoever told u it was is a serious jackass. u need to come back to reality sweetheart. she seemed pretty quiet in the movie anyways. there are tons of attractive people at my school, and not all of them are striving for popularity and attention, some are quiet, like kelly was. wtf is wrong with u?

  • the gay stoner was my favorite

  • Wow... poor Kelly, I just wish my friends would put some attention to me too, I'm like always taking care of them but like none of them takes care of me... *sigh* my god, I just don't want to finish up like her D:

  • @PKMNoldfan I know what you mean :(

  • made me cry.

  • Anyone notice that the only time kelly has a black and white interview, she doesn't talk about herself? like everyone else did? she talks about her nephew. That is a selfless person.

  • @NaomiLeu It wasn't selflessness. It was avoidance. The point is, as I see it, she is talking about a happy moment, something outside herself, in order to push aside whatever it was she had hidden. And that is why no one expected it to be her; because she never brought to attention her woes.

  • This movie made me cry so hard.

    It's such a great movie.

  • Part 8????? Has it vanished? Where can I find it?

  • @hansmagic Part 8 Is unable to be uploade to youtube because it has an incestual rape scene in it.... So that is why there is no part eight.

  • who got raped in part 8???

  • @7JoysInRepetition melody

  • Where is part 8??? I could not find it

  • in the credits it says "uneven steven." poor steven

  • I have never cried this hard about a movie.... I can"t even...

  • "She was lucky ,really lucky" ~ very sad :(

  • This movie was unbelievable. I'm quite glad that I actually watched it.

.. A lot of the things that everyone was going through, I could almost relate to so it really struck a chord.

    Amazing movie.

  • i feel like a dummbbo, but at the end of this movie i was crying like a maniac. :(

  • It feels like, she died for them all, you know. They were all depressed and all could have done it, she did. Brilliant movie, even if it's quite unbearable sometimes, it had to be I think in a way.

  • where can i download the full movie?:)

  • so much blood..

  • that was just...the most touching, depressing, magical, yet haunting movie I have ever seen in my life.

  • c. Medicines shouldn' t be given to everyone after first glance, and people shouldn' t be diagnosed so quickly, 'cause I am diagnosed incorrectly two times + they find the good meds for the 5 th try of meds!!!! Of course, meds are necessary in my case, cause without them, I would not be able to sleep sufficiently, but still, from the bad meds I needed to have 3 times more than prescribed !!!!!

    d. I totally agree with zanthus, cause all people who are in the life of the patient should cooperate

  • Ok, I see that my comment has awoken many disputes, so here are my viewpoints: a. I don' t mean that psychologists are useless, I am attending one because I have emotionally unstable disorder (something between lighter borderline and bipolar), and I' m taking meds (Rivotril and Tiapridal), and it is GOOD to have A PSYCHOLOGIST with not only talk therapy, but also with alternative methods like KIP method (Kinesic-Psychological)

    b. people should be more attentive toward each other AND TOLERANT!

  • i hate that, when someone dies they always say they were "happy," which is total bullshit. it's just an excuse for them to walk away and be be held responsible for not really seeing the person.

  • what is this ending song? love it

  • is this based on a true story story? like did this really happen?

  • I'm not sure I get it.....she killed herself because she was being ignored when she tried to help people with their problems?._.

Also you could see in her hesitance to pick up the scissors and use them that she didn't actually want to.....

  • @TypoQueen17xDfial She felt like nobody was there for her, and that she was useless. She didn't know what she had to do. Suicide, at that moment, seemed an easy option.

Lots of teenagers are doing this for many of their own reasons.

  • omg i hate marcus. a person with a problem wouldnt ask for help if its being left out what was kelly gonna say marcus talk to me i have no friends and im lonley.. dont u think she would have been like ??????? umm.,

  • Omg... I think I´m out of words...

  • Wow. Good film. It's definitely a controversial film like I had read. But really these things happen all the time. There's always that one person that no one pays attention to. The one that is always asking about others well being and hiding there problems. Most troubled teens never take out the time to worry about others. Some people are really good at faking happy.

  • holy shit Marcus is played by frank sweet i use to go to school with him wtf...

  • Watch how you treat people, because the one's who laugh the loudest can also be the one's who cry the hardest when alone. It only takes a single smile to cover up a million tears.

  • Wow.. thats a very intense movie.. that its dedicated to all the kellies of the world.. its really sad.. it really makes me think about what i can do and how i treat ppl... this movie was inspirational.. and a great piece of work

  • So wait is the whole thing a true story?

  • @diamondz4us yep.

  • she was the one who cared

  • That was a seriously awesome movie.

Really depressing. But that's probably because it's so damn realistic.

  • i think the point is that you really dont know whats going in people's head, and that a smile hides a lot. the other students never bothered to see if she was ok because they had their own troubles. i think what we can learn is to stop and think, to spend a few minutes talking to each other. i think marcus is sick and evil for what he did and needs to be locked up.

  • this is based on a real story? :'(

  • Thank you so much for uploading this.

one of the best movies that i ever saw

  • Comment removed

  • she had the happiest confessional and she was the one to kill herself. It's ironic...in the sense that nobody really knew her. She was the one who did all the asking.

  • From the beginning, you see that someone has killed themselves, and throughout the whole film, you try to figure out who it was. It could be anyone. The fucked up brother, or maybe the pregnant sister that he raped. Could be the gay junkie. Or maybe the guy who he had sex with who's in the closet. Or it could be his balimic girlfriend. Or the loner with a limp and a humiliating bladder issue. Not once did it ever cross your mind that it could be her. No one noticed what was going on in her life.

  • @coryandcar I knew it was her , I mean come on , if it wasn't her , why did she said so many things , and was trying to be there, I think it was obious ..

  • @coryandcar actually I had a feeling it was her from about Part 2 and on, simply because she was part of the film but constantly ignored. She also didn't have a black and white interview until the end of the film.

  • this movie is sooooo hard to watch.....i went through almost the same thing with the depression and no one knew. they all thought i was happy and sooo not depressed. truth was i was cutting myself everyday and very close to suicide. if not for my friends, God, and my youth leader i probably would not be alive today. Im thankful for all those people who helped me ♥♥♥

  • Ok this is one of the most awesome and fucked up movies i've ever seen... really good

  • ahw we have the same birthday <3

is this based on a true story?

  • What's the name of the song at the end and who is it by?

  • @thund3rthighs it's pie jesus by andrew lloid webber=)

  • My ex is super depressed, and I'm afraid this will happen to them. How can ignore this? But, my constant worrying is putting my new relationship in jeapardy.

  • BRILLIANT!!!!

  • you can't watch this final part without getting touched inside

  • LOL that's an aussie movie?? during all it I thought to be british lmao! so brilliantly depressing btw

  • is this based on a true story????

  • Why isn't Clementine Mellor (Kelly) in more movies?!?

  • @NapalmX717 You're not the only one asking this question. She's only made an appearance in Angela's Descicion and since then she hasn't made any other movie. But perhaps she's on Australian TV or something

  • FAVORITE MOVIE EVER!!!! rly sad tho

  • this was an amazing movie but i seriously wonder why kelly killed herself. she looked like the most happiest person and she was so sweet and it didnt look like anything was wrong. they hardly ever interviewed her or talked bout her. thats so sad.

  • @wynnetoma ever notice that's how it is in real life as well?

  • @wynnetoma i think the point of the story is to show that whatever was going on in peoples lives no one payed attention to her, your meant to feel like she could have been going through worse things but no body listened

  • I'm so depressed right now it's not even funny..... I can't believe how Sad this was

  • it should have been marcus that dies and not kelly

  • @frankduke2 Though we all live in the same world, so we might wanna try to get friendly with one another.

didn't mean to write so much. it's kind of an unsolved problem, and it won't ever be solved. I mean, you solve these kind of things for yourself, in your own life, your own small (comfortable) comunity. no one can see it coming when a teenage girl attempts suicide. I guess the gap between her and her fellow students was too big for her to overcome.

  • @frankduke2 no one should have died, people should talk to eachother and try to understand ones behaviour instead of judging it without knowing any of the circumstances. I desperately want to believe in such a world, but I know that it's never going to get there(also because hapiness and sadness/cruelty exist in this world just because if someone feels one thing, it makes this person appreciate the opposite feeling much more,

  • This movie, above all else, illustrating the stupidity and ignorance of people, because they usually don' t know how to help, including counselors and psychologists, a lot of them just using random talk in a logical framework (if you work on it, you' ll be better etc.), keep their problems a secret, and you have to, as well, because people don' t like depressing ,sad things, like when you have a mental or physical illness, and when you are different than most of them.

  • As a logical conclusion, most of them usually don' t give a sh*t to other people problems, and don' t even care about them, that' s why so many people who has depression or any other not visible illness(es) have to keep it (them) (a) secret(s).

    And it is sad. :(

  • @oceansoul0403

What the fuck are you rambling about?

As a psychology grad student, I take MUCH offensive to your ignorant ass comment about myself and my coworkers. Just because you went to a shitty counselor/psychologist (if you've even been to one AT ALL), does not give you permission to generalize us with such angst.

And no one likes seeing/hearing about others in pain BUT we still train and raise thousands of dollars of debt against ourselves BECAUSE WE CARE and want to help!

  • @kkgemini86 No matter how competent and well intentioned the therapist is, nothing, and absolutely nothing, can replace having friends/family members in one's life who already have common sense and compassion coupled within the same person. The very fact that you have to make kindness a commodity that can only be accessed by paying $150 an hour is proof that life is not worth living. It doesn't help that the psychiatric system is highly flawed. I say this as a fellow student of psychology.

  • @oceansoul0403 this is why counselors, psychologists, and parents need to work together as a team to help these kids instead of working with the kids independently and not talking to at all. If the counselor is aware of a problem, the counselor needs to get the kid's teachers involved and the parents because all these adults are involved in this child's life; therefore, all should be working together to help.

  • wow.

  • Wow this film is crazy with all the problems.....

This was filmed at my school =)

  • I really didnt expect that. And when Steven had the nosebleed, i thought it was Melody who gave him a tissue. R.I.P ;(

  • screw Marcus.

  • never cryed at a film so much

  • its a true story.. wow.

  • I am a mom of a teenage daughter, and there are no words to how much this movie moved me, I read so many comments of people saying they didn't notice Kelly, but I noticed her and I saw how ignored she was, and even when the didn't show her consoling the boy with the nose bleed, I knew it was her....and then to find out it's a true story...all I can say as a mom of a teen girl, Please don't assume that the people you push aside are happy, show them love, treat them like they matter....R.I.P

  • @passionwatcher30

i did push one happy person away and then 10 seconds later i sprinted after her and said thanks for asking me about my day

  • A beautiful film. Really.

  • aww i wanted to see some of those conflicts playout good or bad

  • omg she seems like such an adorable person i would love to have a friend like her

  • Truly amazing..... I love this film....

I can relate I lost my friend in a horrible way;'(

I see it as a master piece

And I wouldn't mind working with the director...

    Or learning from them...

  • one of the most beautiful movies ive ever seen.

  • my god i cant get over how amazing this movie is. I just ordered it the other day on dvd..already watched it twice again..showed to my husband and mom..ill keep passing it on.. so beautiful

  • 1. looking back, i kind of get why she was the one to kill herself.. the others all had things in their life that they could blame for feeling badly- "my dad has really high expectations of me," "i'm gay, people aren't okay with that," "i'm pregnant," etc. But this girl was just being herself, and was always going out of her way to befriend others and make them feel better. she was doing everything she could think of to be a good person and have a good life, but no one cared.

  • 3. seeing as she was doing everything she could think of to feel wanted to no avail, and how she had no obvious reason why things weren't going well for her, she probably thought that her situation would never get better. that she was just useless and that no one would ever care about her. then her feelings just became too much for her and she just couldn't cope with them all in that moment.

  • thatwas so sad i am crying right now

  • This was amazing.

This is high school. You never notice the ones with the...I don't want to say real, because they're all real...but the life threatening problems.

    People who don't talk.

    People who bottle it up.

    People who seem "normal"

It was great because it was in the view of a high schooler.

You know the messed up ones. But you don't notice the others.

  • wait, and then what happened?

    shit. >:[

  • Aw... ):

  • my favorite part of the movie is when it flashes back to when the kid who wet his pants had a bleeding nose and the director reveals it was Kelly who offered help. It sums up pretty much the whole story, not even the kid with the pants-wetting didnt pay her mind. She was so willing to be friends with anyone, it was a clever thing that the director hid that.. I noticed

  • i know that song has been used in other movies before at 2:00

  • what's the song at 2:00 pls

  • @shawnkoolman1 Erik Satie, Gymnopédie No.1. His work was also featured in "Elegy" with Penelope Cruz.

  • @shawnkoolman1 thats Pie Jesu and the singer is Sissel Kyrkjebø i think ;)

you can also find this beautiful piece on youtube i think :)

  • @eNNemy90 thanx!

  • marcus is so fucking gross oh shit i almost puked in the scene didn't he ever hear of porn or girlfriend

  • @shawnkoolman1 shame. his own sister. now thats gross. and then he acted like it was her fault. gosh they make us guys look extremely bad

  • @nocturnmetal exactly

  • congratulation that's the MOST sad movie I ever ever ever saw in my whole fuckin life

but I really like it and I couldn't watch her cut herself so hard for me to watch but it was still sad hearing her crying

  • Amazing movie. It made me cry...

  • The only reason i didn't notice Kelly was because everytime i saw her i thought it was melody. Maybe i should have watched more closely =\

  • The end gave me chills. She is just so happy talking about her nephew. Beautiful movie :)

  • Fags

  • What is the name of the Classical song so beautiful with the singer ? Does anyone know ?

  • @Voxbalaenae1 Pie Jesu. I don't know who sings in it this version though

  • MARCUS WAS A DICK.

  • Im thinking it was definitely Marcus. He was her reason

  • I think Kelly killed herself, because she was in love with Marcus.

But he has impregnated his sister and she could not handle it.

  • This movie was a trip.

  • Because she was lonely, I would commit suicide without being worthy of it. And the person who can understand it is only the person who was able to understand her loneliness why she committed suicide. Because the person whom I cannot understand does not know true loneliness. Such a person is very happy.

  • Her tape made me BAWL MY EYES OUT. It's the worst part because you see her so seemingly "happy" when she's a mess inside. People really need to open their eyes.

  • Every high school needs to show this film. To the senior students at the very least.

  • God Thats how I was in High School. The quite one in the background that no one paid attention to. Great movie I loved it, took me back to not so fun memories, but in a good way I guess because I didn't end up ending it even when I wanted to.

  • really amazing and meaningful film!

  • @niddasa Kind of the point

  • @niddasa we don't know if she had a reason or not. we don't know anything about her character, which is what the film is trying to say. people may seem okay, but we never know.

  • shit film

  • sad

  • Favorite movie, wonderful director

  • it is so sad ... peopel see only thier own problems ... and forget the other around

    sorry for my bad english

  • does anybody kno how old she was or wat yr this happened?

  • its based on a friend of the directors who sent him a video suicide note before killing herself in highschool, he was 22 when he made this film in 2006 so im guessing it was around 2004- ish
