There are more on the PS3 (for Fracture) than on the 360, but not that many either way you go.  It's dissapointing, but who knows what the future holds.

Seems like a great game. Changing the environment to do what you need to do.

However, the movement and weapons seem a lot like Red Faction (for those that have played the online beta). I will rent it but the fracture demo and this video lead me to believe the gameplay will be similar.

This game's multiplayer seems a lot like Red Faction.

The sprinting seems similar, the important of getting to high ground, the shotgun and other weapons are similar, and things are destructible.

Teh insane weapons look cool, and it would sound cool to talk about using them in a game.. maybe because I'm only thinking from the fps perspective.. but in practice those weapons in particular are gonna make the gameplay really shitty, as in not fun and just frustrating for everyone, they'll prob have to limit the weapons, I mean people will just do w/e gets kills, so that would mean cheesing the shit out of easy weapons, like Magnum sniping in HalfLife2 DM

How do you make a shooter different? You shoot things... that's the entire point. The only way you can change them is by throwing in gameplay tweaks - like terrain deformations - and just changing what kind of guns you have.

Portal is more a puzzle game than a shooter. Mirror's Edge is more a platformer than a shooter.

Now, if they made a game like Mirror's Edge and Portal - and actually made shooting other people an important part of the game - it'd be a shooter/puzzle/platforming game. THAT'D be different.

However, if you're just shooting things then it's just a shooter, and can't change much about just a shooter.

I suppose you could call Half-Life 2 a shooter/puzzle/platforming game; it certainly has all those aspects. Half-Life 2 is is definitely an incredibly good game and I wouldn't consider it your run of the mill shooter.
