  • Haha. His helmet says "smeg" on it. Red Dwarf reference or coincidence?

  • Look at him at 0:03. He needs a better fitting race suit. He looks like a kid that's trying on his dad's clothes. Look how fat the sleeves are!

  • Why the hell is this tripe song accompanying this clip? Get some proper music on.

  • @Tsilllla

No, he´s worse than his father, Gilles was the only driver who was as good as Senna maybe.

  • I read a book on the Villeuneuve family and apparently Gilles brother whoose name was also Jacques used to race cars in SNOW in Canada ,and apparently was more gifted than Gilles , would have been great to see him in F1

  • @23deniro23 Jacques Villeneuve (senior) did compete in F1. He wasn't v good

  • that guy was a good driver for sure But not the half of his father as a driver and not even the quarter of the simplicity of Gilles Thers always a part of chance in the life But never forgot U create the lucke

  • Some one know song when start Gilles vs Arnoux?

  • whats the name of the first song please

  • @rumble2551 Coldplay - Clocks

  • Jacques would have been an amazing driver for Ferrari. Di montezemolo should have offered JV a contract back at some point.

  • @jc790 I think his outspokenness counted against him in many ways. That and he over-committed himself with BAR and said some things publicly which made him look like a fool. I'm thinking back to the way Jenson Button outperformed him in the BAR......those things stick and I doubt Di Montezemolo was interested in Villeneuve. Not with Schumacher there. Though the thought of a Prost/Senna type explosion between the two after Jerez in '97 does seem appealing in retrospect.

  • Jacques Villeneuve and Damon Hill, the only two sons of great drivers who made the minimum to honored their fathers, Gilles villeneuve and Graham Hill.

  • Nelle vesti del papà..... eccezzionale !!!!!

  • @paolohf83 Già, almeno avesse le abilità del padre. Sarebbe già meglio di Schumacher.

  • a vid that don't forget that arnoux was a part of that battle too. most of the tribut videos, it's all about gilles.

  • Giles & Rene may have got into trouble after that race but im willing to bet Enzo was over the moon about seeing his driver race like that

  • He even wore Gille's helmet... Both their helmets has the same ''V'' shaped line... Jacques said his ''V'' was for Villeneuve, but his dad's ''V'' was for victory

  • 0:50 Song?

  • i think Jacques was better than Gilles but,he didnt have half of the balls and competetive mind of his father.

  • Jacques here was a great driver, he would've won a few more WC if he had not "sold" his carrer, along with his manager in F1...

  • Can someone tell me who is " Lord March"

  • Lord March owns the estate and roads the Goodwood festival takes place at, hosts this event for charity.

  • oh man this feels good to see that ferrari and the collors of that helmet. If only the right head was in it.

  • possible. he's trying to get a wheel...

  • nice..

F1 is very dull these days without the likes of Alesi, Montoya, Jacques.

  • Quite spooky when you see the helmet and the car together.

  • The car of Dijone 1979 is the Ferrari T4 in this video talking about of T3.

    But very nice always

  • ya i know ! ! ! i was at the canadian grand prix in 1989 and the

souvenir table's were busy and this one guy was trying to

pass off a T5 ( 1980 ) as the 27 with number and everthing , i mentioned it to him and he just gave me this look anyways , the real people know what to buy . p .s . if you watch the '89 race you can see me in the stands at the fast esses after the hairpin , look for a yellow ferrari umbrella .

    after the hairpin

  • it's not the same helmet

  • it is nice to review the helmet and the car of the late legendary Gilles, especially when there is driving his son Jacques.

  • The greatest moment in F1 history.

    R.I.P. Gilles

  • what about MONACO AND SPAIN 1981

  • Hard to describe how I feel watching this. A special moment indeed. Villeneuve sr and jr are legends. It's also a pleasure to see good old René Arnoux at the wheel. Thanks for posting.

  • historic moments!

  • I watched that crazy '79 race @ Dijon on TV as a kid - what a battle! Villeneuve was a maniac and the way he died is a reflection of how he raced in F1.

  • like what MAX VON SYDOW said in " THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR " ,,, " FOR THAT DAY " . also what bob segar's " against the wind " --- " caught like a wild fire out of control till there was nothing left to burn and nothing to prove " .

  • i a intervie he said that he is never think about his father

    i a race :(

  • That is because Gilles wasn't quite a good family man and he actually was a bit of a strange character. in spite of those he things, he was a true legend on track.

  • @SanderKamp

Not a good family man?? On signing with Ferrari, Gilles insisted that his family get travelling expenses paid to all the races across the season. Unlike the other “rockstar” F1 drivers of the 70s, he avoided all the parties, the nightlife, and even the hotels, just to sleep in a motor home with his wife and two children in the paddocks of every circuit. Jacques practically lived in the pits throughout the F1 seasons.

  • i love jacques, i dont really know how to word this but in his last few years in f1 i dont think it like suited him, jacques is an out and out racer he likes to bang wheels and on track confrontation. f1 recently has not rewarded that kind of driver, f1 now rewards the consistant (not necessarily good), strategical based PR Robots that now dominate f1 (apart from alonso hees a badass)

  • i like vettele alonso and hamilton as they r very aggressive i think they r too many rules i think the only rule allowed in f1 shu d be all teams r to push 2 the limit

  • @shazmeister2005 Word. Villeneuve and Arnoux went down in history for that battle, Villeneuve particularly because he fought_so_hard for second place. Is it really any coincidence that they say Enzo Ferrari only really loved two drivers in his life, Tazio Nuvolari and Gilles Villeneuve? Jacques was the same kind of competitive driver, but he moved to a team that couldn't produce an even reasonably decent car.
