2.5 d has 3d rendered characters but the scenery and gameplay is not.

1D = 1 axis (just a line)

2D = 2 axis (x,y)

3D = 3 axis (x,y,z)

No such thing as 2.5D, well, not in any useful sense anyway.

I think there's a misunderstanding. Some of it looks drawn by hand, but the rest is taken from old Mario games. Where the actual imported textures are placed is where the art comes in.

Jeez, simple, using the right plugin for PJ64 you can import textures. I don't see the point in making a nes mario 64 because it has already been done, and I have it and it looks fine.
