  • Well done Canada. Well done. "There is no greater love than this, that he lay down his life for his friends". John 15:13

  • This video is touching. the song. the pics. the heroes. Im just an ordinary teen not a hero or even that popular. but i can proudly say that its one of my dreams. To travel along that stretch of highway. Just so i can show some respect to the soldiers. and place flowers on every brigde..

  • @7234908 Unfortunatly you, like many others have no clue whats really going on in Afganistan, the country is a victim of the taliban and of influances of other nations surrounding it, these soliders that are fighting and dying for Afganistan know why they are and what they fight for, but our media is less then 100% open about that truth. Our men and women who died fighting for this cause will have died in vein if we just walk away, now Irac thats another story.....

  • i have found a website webmovietube to watch movies for free..njoy

  • There's a post on here by "SHIT4LIFE50 ", but unfortunately I can't give it a "thumbs down" - I'll have to settle for repudiating his/her comment - this is NOT fake (I've done this trip more than once, you lying prick), and personally I'd love nothing more than to be able to take "SHIT4LIFE50 " out behind the woodshed and pound the shit out of him/her ...

  • he,i watched this movie 5 times in webmovietube..thank u

  • For me i cry every time because since i live in Trenton when ever a solider dies i see them get taken away...it's so sad to see these men and women who faught for us get taken away in these black cars...truley a sad sight you can never forget

  • My teacher shows this to use twice a year. And everytime a Troop dies.

Thank you for the upload <3 I have never felt so thankful for Troops being out there.

  • SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! BRING THEM HOME FROM THE ILLEAGAL INVASION OF AFGANISTAN NOW!

  • great job john, respect they deserve it

  • I have watched the scene many times over a bridge, and prayed for the souls of fallen soldiers, I am located near the 401 highway where the convoy drives by, and sometimes my husband who is a trucker sees them, we have taken the children in our family out too, so that they can understand the true impact of war, people die, they serve their country, and they die, war is painful, it is not glorious, it is a necessary evil at times that we must endure, but it must be done with honour....

  • Beautiful, thank you John. Here in the US, we don't have a single point where we can honor one of the fallen coming home like the 401 so it is nice to see the many who come out to honor our fallen. Lest We Forget .. Lest We Forget.

  • wonderfully done...powerful!

  • I hope i wont have to travel that road when i join but if i do il be honored at all the people saluting me thank you the people ur the reason i want to sacrifice myself for this beautiful country may it stand proudly and freely for ever

  • @anth5757 wishing you a long and rewarding career in our military.thank god for your comittment and may his hands guide you through what will be a wonderful journey.

  • @aka5296 Thx allot :)

  • wow i never saw a funaerul jet before

  • Support our troops. Honour their bravery.

  • its motherfucking fake

  • @SHIT4LIFE50 What the hell does that mean? What is fake? If it is what I think you are saying, you need to look in a mirror. Try not to crack it. Yvonne Kaye Veteran of the Blitz you flaming idiot

  • @SHIT4LIFE50 How dare you! This video is fake? MAN YOU ARE SO OFF COURSE! i don't even know what to say you jerk. Ya these are fake people in these caskets. Seriously, you deserve to live on an island by yourself for the rest of your life away from civilization where people don't say "that's fake" to a clear representation of fallen canadian soldiers. Hopefully someday you'll find a heart, because i honestly almost feel sorry for your pitiful being. Good Day,

  • @SHIT4LIFE50 What a perfect handle ..ha ha ha ha SHIT FOR LIFE and you were 50 .No one has to say anything to you. You have said everything that needs to be said To yourself. .....Good Day

  • I cry for canada

  • @jo98021 If this is all you can see in this tribute my heart goes out to you my friend.

  • @jo98021 your opinion is your opinion but this is not about copyright laws or the music this is about the canadian troops and if you cant honor that u are one ungreatful son of a bitch

i must say i am fourteen years old and every morning i hold my hand on my heart out of respect to all the fallen canadian soldiers and all the currently serving canadian soldiers and i hope to serve with you one day salute to you all

  • @jo98021 dude jsut like fk off it not a copy right no rights reserved now pay attention to the damn video and lyrics...

  • John,

I must have watched this video 20 times in the last year and it still touches me as strongly now as it did the first time. Thank you. I hope to make the 2 hour journey to pay my respects but pray there are no more opportunity's to do so.

  • trust youre old british mates !,We were put on the Earth to look after you chaps, teach you how to make home brew in a deseret,&stepping ihn shit. Miss you all vertymuch!! think i'm pissed!Old Vets & serveing write back!!!

  • @zeus21ish Cheers pal....but you werent put on the earth to watch us....prolly the other way around...cheers and salute!

  • This is awesome. It makes me so proud to see the number of people that pay their respects. It means so much. Keep it up Canada.

  • Sadly I will be going again tomorrow to the bridge at 5:10 for the 151th soldier to arrive home. My condolences to the family and friends of Sapper Brian Collier from 1 Combat Engineer Regiment.

  • One can only hope that the single thumbs down was an unintentional slip of the wrist.

  • i have friends that live south of the boarder whom i've shown some of the videos around youtube of how US CANADIANS pay tribute to our fallen. i especially like it when our government for once did a right thing and let those police officers killed in the Haitian earthquake travel down this road as well as that reporter from Calgary that was embedded with a platoon travel down this road. This road is 1 thing that makes me proud 2 be Canadian & i'm not ashamed for it.

  • Hi John, thanks for the wonderful job. You my friend are blessed with a "Heart of Gold"!!! May they all RIP!!!

  • On my way home from school (probly 40-45min walk) everyday I pass over the Hwy of heros and when a solder's coming home its takes me about 50 mins to walk home passing through all the people standing with there flags and few older veterins.. I've always wanted to stop and stand with every one. But Im always in such a rush to get home I never get a chance to !!

  • @MakeMeGoRour There is no rush......Stop and say Hi to those soldiers!

  • :( sadface

  • Today a friend's son will make his trip down the Highway of Hero's....our hearts go with you Sgt.James MacNeil...and our prayers are with your family...........

  • Ah Quinte West. I spent a lot of summers in Trenton as a kid - my relatives are from there. I always thought it was kind of a hickish backwards town. I was there one day during the repatriation ceremony and watched as, what I'm sure must have been the entire town, coming out to the highway to say goodbye to the soldier that had died. My opinion really changed that day.

  • Beautiful im just retired :) I made it cheers all

  • @MrFreedomrequired god bless you!

  • This is seen way to often. Job well done boys and girls. We'll always remember what you have done for us. Stand down,

  • Well done. Hard to hold back the tears though!

  • i was very moved by this video. thank you Canada for fighting, and i love the way your countrymen honor the fallen with the highest dignity and respect. Most Americans are hateful and do not understand why soldiers do what they do. i have experienced many of these kinds of people, for i will soon be an American soldier.

  • GOD BLESS YOU GUYS....from an argentinean soldier

  • love the song, an oldie but a classic, metallica does a nice acoustic version of this also, one luv .

  • Very high respect for Canadian people, firemen and policemen one.

This scenes are a beautiful patriotic demonstration.

    JB, French fireman

  • Fuck copyright.

  • SHAME ON YOU YOUTUBE

  • where is audio shame

  • How horrible do you have to be to take away the audio from a video honoring fallen soldiers?

WMG, you have brought my hate for you to a new fucking level!

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking assholes disable a song on a tribute to fallen soldiers video, wtf is this world coming to? jfc.

  • i was told to yutube this from a canadian friend on cod4. im from the usa but a UN soldier dying is the same as a US Army soldier or marine dying for our freedom. RIP comrads

  • AMG burn in hell you bastards

  • I first heard of the Highway of Heroes Canada from a good friend who lives outside Toronto...so this tribute makes me cry. I am from the USA, but i still can salute our fallen comrades in Canada for their bravery in a war that is a no-win situation! Kind of like russian Roulette, but with every chamber filled! I await the end of all war and wish our world could live in PEACE! So, once again, I salute you all, the fallen heroes of Canada! May you rest in Peace beside the fallen heroes of the USA!

  • WMG SUCKS and should be ashamed! May you burn in hell!

  • Thank you from the USA. We stand by our sons with you.

  • Thank you for sharing this honorable but terribly sad tribute. it is beautiful to see people standing strong against terrorist. our son is in Iraq and we salute your sons. May God be with us all...

Rose five stars to you from the USA

  • how disrespectful of Youtube to remove the audio from this clip, it wouldnt happen to an American video of soldiers

  • I believe audio is removed automatically if it matches something in their system. I would bet that both WMG and YouTube know nothing about this particular video.

  • I have to agree with you, tributes should be left alone. I doubt a content owner is going to fight an entire country grieving the loss of their brave men and women.

  • we don't need wmg to make a point. in this video..sometimes silence is virtue...God bless our brave hero's...

  • Some of us have a saying you might want to borrow. "If you don't stand behind our troops then feel free to stand in front of them. We, in the USA , salute you too as well as our own! God Bless those who stand for good.

  • We have the same saying here my friend. I see it daily on bumper stickers and t shirts. Thanks you.

  • Which is the busiest and most colourful overpass along the highway of heroes??

  • ya fuck you wmg.

  • Fuck you WMG.

  • WMG. is a bunch of heartless pricks If you remix to cords of a song they can't make claim but die for your country and have someone pay tribue with a video and these s.o.b.'s pull the song don't buy any Warner Music or video

  • Thank you to all those who have served and continue to serve. Your bravery, courage and dedication is beyond words. Thank from the bottom of my heart.

  • It's too bad that Warner Music had the audio track for this great video disabled. I'm sure that not one WMG executive would have the guts to fight for their country. Shame on WMG, the money-grubbers.

  • Ive seen a few of these come through and everytime it breaks my heart, but at the same time it makes me damn proud to be a Canadian and even more proud of our troops and the good they do. not just in the Afhganistan but worldwide. Bless our Brothers and sisters overseas and many more blessings to their families.

  • Thank you to whom ever made this video. It is so very important to keep the memory of our fallen soldiers alive. And to all troops and all the civilian workers over there, a thank you just doesn't suffice! May God be with you each step outside the wire.

  • we would also like to remember the 65000 canadians who lost their lives in ww1 and 45000 who lost their lives ww2 and soldiers lost in afganistan thank you from the uk united we stand

  • Just got back from the highway of heroes as we welcome home three more soldiers. So amny people were their today lining both sides because the bridges were to full.

RIP Private Michael Freeman, Warrant Officer Gaétan Roberge and Sergeant Gregory John Kruse

  • I served under warrant Roberge, one of the greatest leaders ive ever had the honour of meeting.

  • I went for a walk today and thought of our troops. We take it for granted in this country that we won't be shot and killed or blown up. My heart goes out to the families of the latest soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice. CFB Petawawa, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. I love you all! My uncle served in the forces for 30 years. You give 100% so we can be free and are always in my prayers. God Bless You All.

  • "He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him a spinal cord would fully suffice... Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable an ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." -- Albert Einstein

  • why do you come here and write these things, the families of these men may be looking at these videos in search of support, if you cant understand the concept of sacrifice for our fellow human beings in afghanistan then respectfully , Keep your comments to yourself.

  • what are you a french muslim communist just rember the british boys are at the sharpe edge of things cachwr dan dyn

  • Listen if you dont want to help fellow human beings because they are either french muslim or communist, then maybe you should go live in the arctic alone where there are no others.

  • sry Rd998lc read that wrong, ^^^ disregard

  • Thank You to all of the men and women of the Canadian Forces!

It was with great pride (and sadness) that I sat down with my eight and ten year old boys to watch this video.

Your sacrifices are appreciated by Canadians!

  • You know what? the world could use a lot more Canada!!

  • i love being canadian as a first generation born and raised in winnipeg i alway's knew i was in the right place ....I love canada ..and my fellow country men from coast to coast together we stand ...and i along with all of us out in the west alway's support our troops no matter what i am blessed and lucky to live in such a great country ...thank you soldiers and canada.

  • Raise a glass to these soldiers and families this Christmas!

  • What an amazing video. It makes me so very proud to be Canadian.

  • I made it out to Wynford Drive and met Mr Diplaros, who toke the ride last week with his fallen Son. Very moving.

    Thanks to all

  • I was there today in Whitby , and for the people like me who could not get onto the bridge was on the embankments. It is so sad. I hope not one more soldier has to pass this way again.

    God bless our troops..

  • johnnebud....they arrived this afternoon. I just watched footage on the news. And it is so bitterly cold just to add to it all.

  • I hope I never have a chance to stand on one of those bridges.

    ~Thanato

  • I appreciate what you're saying. It'd be better if no one had to stand on those bridges.

  • Does anyone know what time they arrive tomorrow?

  • johnnebud, Canada A.M. usually announces when the plane will land in Trenton. Or, if you are at work and have a radio, listen to CBC Radio One. Hope this helps. My family who live near the highway are going to camp out until the procession passes. They live 5 minutes from an overpass. I don't live anywhere near it or I would be there!!!

  • I am from Germany, and I think that Canadians have found a great way to support their troops and their fallen. I am staying in Toronto right now, and I will be there when 3 of my allied comrades return home. Sgt (Res.) 130th German Maint. Bat. (Res.)

  • Cheers PeteRushEgg.

  • My heart dropped when I saw the news yesterday. My heart goes out to the families and it being so close to Christmas.

Thank you to all who serve so that we can live in a free society. My uncle is a veteran and served for 30 years in the army. I have great respect for our troops.

God Bless the memory of the fallen.

  • Another 3 passed away today.

    So close to Christmas :(

I'll be there to welcome them home.

    RIP

  • Thank you, thank the person who posted this and thank every person who takes the time to honour the fallen. As a retired CF member whose son is in basic it means more than you may realize. THANK YOU!

  • Godspeed comrades

  • God Bless the Canadian Armed Forces. Our thoughts and prayers are with you today as we repatriate 3 more of our fallen based out of CFB Petawawa. Rest in peace.

  • Very touching video, brought a tear to my eye. Nicely put together as well. God bless all the troops!

  • 3 more soldiers will be making their journey down this road ... May god bless our troops , rest in peace.

  • Salute.......Present arms.......Helmets off to these boys....

  • Every time i watch this i get misty eyed , so wonderful to see so many people who care for our troops.

  • All those hearses...this actually made me cry.

  • I am so damn proud to be Canadian!!! THANK YOU TO OUR HEROES & ALL THE TROOPS!!

  • Gotta love the Canadians!

  • that was just beautiful. thank you!!

let's not forget the boys who are giving their all on a day-to-day basis.

It's good soo see people being so compassionate on human level, regardless of their politics.

  • O CANADA

Canadians stand on guard for thee...

  • At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

    We will remember them.

    Lest we forget.

  • whats the name an artist of this song??

    well done canada

  • The artist is Dire Straits and the song and Album/CD Brother in Arms.

  • Thank you to all these Brave Men & Women...Thank you for our Freedom !

  • This is a truly proud sight. I live where the 115 hwy connects to the 401, and to see fellow Canadian's lining every foot of highway, and every bridge along the 401 is a sight that can show every trooper over sea's that we are truly thankful for their service.

  • I watch this everyday, the part where he says "Now the suns come to help" Always sends a chill down my spine.I imagine him saying now our sons come to help.

  • Even when one of our soldiers comes back now not one bridge is empty from CFB trenton to Down Town Toronto. Once in Toronto the fire department blocks off streets so the motorcaide can get to the coroners office with dignity.

  • I'm a french cavalry officer, and on seeing this video I feel both emotion and bitterness.

Emotion to see how a country can give this last farewell to those who served with honour.

But in France that would never happen. When our wounded soldiers came back from Vietnam, they were thrown stones in Marseille by the communist dockers of the CGT, those who comitted sabotages in the military factories.

And the french mass media do a dirty job. Lost of the military service will make it even worst...

  • That's sad. I can't imagine the hurt a wounded/maimed soldier would feel having stones thrown at them...

  • Bien vu Chamborant!Ces scènes seraient inimaginables en France. Les militaires, les policiers ne sont aimés ni de la presse ni du citoyen...

  • i'm britsh we don't have anything like this for our fallen heroes! i think it's disrespectful from the british goverment that send our soldiers, saliors and airmen/women to this conflicts and not do a simply welcome home so to speak. but good vid i am joining the british army as a combat medic in april 09. god bless all armed forces

  • God bless all our service men and women. Fight hard and come home safe, you shall alwasy be remembered.

  • No greater honour then to die on the lines fighting for your country.

  • ... but could only flash my hazard light twice them my right indicator twice - so as to salute - and finally to slowly turn off and then on again my head lights twice as if to say thank you and goodbye.

  • Returning from London to Montreal on Saturday I noticed that the overpasses between Newcastle and Trenton were filled with people. There were also Fire engines with firemen on top. It was almost 8:00 pm and as I neared Trenton the motocade escorting four brave heroes passed me on its way to Toronto. I felt compelled to show my appreciation for there ultimate sacrafice ...

  • Beautiful video..thanks for making this...Bless our troops and may they all come home sake and sound...to my fiance who is in Afghanistan now...I miss you and love you Rick..be safe and come home soon...

  • tlk to me

  • Highway of Heroes, A Canadian Invention.

  • Hats off. That was the most potentially moving video I've seen on you tube . As a displaced Ontarian I wish I was there to salute the brave sacrifice those young men perpetrated.

  • As one of Fire Fighters on the bridge with the Aerial up and the flags flying at half mast, all I can say is that we stand proud to be representing all Canadian Fire Fighters who cannot be there who would like to be there. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and soldiers returning to Canada. The sooner they come home the better. God Bless them all.

    Proud Fire Fighter

  • I honor these soldiers as well as the crowds which are supporting them. Please know that their sacrifice is very much appreciated.

  • It is the efforts and contributions like this that make me proud to be a Canadian.

  • Amen.

  • I admin the Facebook group HIGHWAY OF HEROES. I am canadian cannot be prouder to call myself Canadian..

for our british friends...we are working on doing the same..just trying to figure out the route..when we get it...we wil hopefuly instill the same pride.

  • I am glad to hear there is something being planned for the British Forces. I am astounded and ashamed of the way this country treats our service men and women and believe something needs to be done immediately. And this is not just because I am a service men myself.

This video was fantastic to watch. Thank you for uploading this.

  • Your video was great! It really captured the moment. I traveled behind my Cousin when he went down the Highway Of Heroes to Toronto. And I stand on the bridge to pay my respects to other fallen Soldiers as well. I was on an overpass today for the big Red Friday Rally from Trenton to Toronto.

Thank you for making this wonderful video. Jennifer

Cousin of Trooper Darryl James Caswell.

    July-31-1981 ~ June-11-2007

  • thanks for the video, although it is an awesome event of canadian pride, it is one that hopefully wont be used anymore, god bless our troops and serviceman

  • To Everyone, this "Highway of Heroes" is very much becoming a world reknown event that has the world talking.I am a Canadian living in the U.K and it certainly has impressed them.

For all the Soldiers and thier Families what can I say to show how much I am PROUD or you and HOW PROUD I am to be CANADIAN...it seem not enough...but..."THANK YOU".

  • I would like to say thank you for making this video, as a Canadian soldier. I would also like to add that Paramedics also line the bridges... so be sure to thank them too. Thank you.

  • And I want to thank you for what you do for our country. It's because of people like you that we have such a beautiful country to call home.

    Much respect.

  • Hopefully few more will have to travel on this path!

  • Bless the CFs

  • I worked with the Canadians in Bosnia.First Class all of them. Also the Canadian citizens know how to look after their soldiers.Great people.
