3 years ago, I was looking for this song, found it and made a comment here. I still come here every now and than, and every time I come here, I realise why I love their music so much and why MF gave such good feelings. To me they are timeless, and will always have their place in my personal music chart.
A buddy of mine turned me on to this classic rock band and their joint..MAN that was some good shit! I gotta buy myself a bass guitar and start my own local band here in Atlanta lol....
melaniepolston01@yahoo.com, I ask my kids, while listening to them play old rock and motown, if they had ever heard, and reply was no, so I had to make them listen to this one of a kind group that was so far ahead of their time that they never got the recognition that they deserved for some of the best music to date..and I am born and raised in SC and NC..loved them.. melaniepolston01@yahoo.com
mothers finest give me good feelings and they give me good good feelings and their music will alwaqys be for all times and no one can ever hold that back and if they awill ever know what they do for me for us and there music is eternal and i want to thank yall for the love and the music and wow for being a part of my journey sis jalilah loves ya
brings back so many memories--love the fact many of the young can appreciate--but NOTHING compares to seeing MF in concert--not just now but back in the day--them, chic, mass production, chaka khan, the isley brothers, parliament, funkadelics, bootsy, commodores, confunkshun, barkays, lakeside, LTD, Ojays, ashford and simpson, Mtume--damn......my eyes almost rolled back in my head! LOL
Young kids today couldn't believe the excellence in Black Music because we lived it. I feel so sorry for this generation because they don't know talent when they see it, they take the spectacle of Hip- Hop acts like Lil Wayne and Beyonce and call that musical excellence. When all you had to do is open your door and listened to the old and young heads houses and you would introduced to great music, instead all you get is crusing and violent BS.
I too am on the east coast was real young when i saw one of thier shows and love every since&Ive been loving this band from way back that band gave me alot of good times wish i could thank them for being the sound track for our wild 70's parties or have one w/then~shes got a great voice and i still rock them to this day~i loved this song thanx for the post may we never 4get bands like this~peace ~DD
I met them in 1972 when I was discharged from the Army. They came up, talked and made me feel at home again. Went to Atlanta to visit them several times and always felt they some of the most caring people around. Rockers, Yes. Great Friends, Definitely. Fantastic people, Most assuridly. An honor to know them. Thanks for the music.
I filmed them doing this song 6/11/11 but my battery died, didn't get it all. But I did get the rest of the show. I put a couple of songs on my page. They're up now in HiFi and HiDef, Owww.
Oh yeah!. Mother's Finest in the 80's...Rocked the East Coast!! The first time I saw them was at the Longbranch in Raleigh NC and then in Myrtle Beach. Been hooked ever since.
Mother Finests in Winston Salem tonite....I am one MF happy southern fan! Thanks for the Love! MF ROCKS! I had this on Album and dag gum 8 track! Trying to turn my kids on......this is fricking music!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw them at Champagne Jams Atlanta in 1979 and 1980 where they shared the stage with Eddie Money, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Doobie Brothers, The Cars, Santana, Aerosmith and more and everyone agreed - MF had the best show, esp. 1980 (it was Joyce's birthday). I recently talked with Wyzard - a fine gentleman.
The drag queens used to kill this at what used to be the Apartment Club here in Memphis TN. This brings back some really fun memories. RIP Symone Ross.
Im 17 and I love Mother's Finest! My dad introduced me to these guys a few years ago when I started checking out Jimi Hendrix, then later on I got a chance to see then live on stage. It was first rock concert Ive ever been to and the best live concert Ive ever been to!
Awesome Song....Baby Jean can still sing it today like in the 70's all over GA. I have seen these guys live since late 70's and saw them July 4th last year. They are fantastic live. If you get a chance check it out!!!!
I'm a Georgia girl, and Mother's Finest is a main stay here in our state. Becoming the top funk/rock bands of the south in the later 70's into the 80's and to this day they ROCK! Many are only familiar with a couple of their songs, but a true fan, having seen them in concert 4 times, this is one of their best!!! Although, hard for me to pick a fav...can't do it....Baby Jane and the boys 4Ever!!!!
OMG,, I know every member of this band from South Carolina,, we rocked is our plattformed shoes back in the late 70's and early 80's.. Joyce rocks,, The club was called the Left Gaurd on Rosewood drive in Columbis SC.. What memories ..
Just saw Mother's Finest LIVE in Atlanta. They were rocking, it was so Funky and the energy was incredible. Some original members in the band still too. Go see them, if you get the chance!! Worth it.. :)
this song is the ....it give you good feelin' raunchy sound but good. I was 14 when this song came out, and I thought this was the best song I had ever heard. True, hard funk
Saw them back in ´78 on Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands. What a great band, Rock, Soul, they got it all ! GET YOUR HANDS TOGHETER FOR JOYCE THE VOICE !!!!
I love the irony of this song! The thanks for the love and also for the heartache, tears, and lies. It's so true of many relationships with the ups and downs. Great song!
Saw them in Greenwood, SC, in 1978 at the Civic Center, packed house, played songs from "Another Mother Further" such as Mickey's Monkey, Baby Love, Thank You For The Love, Piece Of The Rock, etc.
HandleBar .. Greenville, SC .. This Saturday .. Can't Wait .. Last time I saw them was 1977 at UNC-Charlotte .. Great party, even had a beer truck with taps coming out of the sides of it, LOL. Nobody else like them!!!
When I was younger, we would go to the lake beach, Val Monte beach, have a few cervezas & sunbathe listening to this music--damn good times! Luv Mother's Finest!
Wow! I was just a youngster when this song came out! Thank God for a family that loved good music! I got hooked on this back in the day! Still lovin it! I thank them for the love!
Delaware state 1977 I was introduced to a pretty good education and Mother's Finest. They help me get through accounting 101, statistics and economics. Mother's Finest "Thank you for the love" and "Baby Love" was my high, was my mojo, was my salvation and birth into the man I am today. Thank you for the love.
Classic, late 70s Rock & Soul Combo. Shows the artist of today what "music" can be when it's not put in certain catagories lke R7B or Rock. Listen to legandary artist like Sly & the Family Stone, Early Rick james, and the first two LPs by Prince. Just great music for all races.
If ya'll like this, then give a listen to a group from the 70's known as The New Birth. They did an album called Blind Baby, and it's the Bomb!!!I mkay be white,But I .grew up with a bunch of Brothers that knew what real music is.
They don't steal. It's in fact celebrating the brilliance of old . If sampling is done correctly in most cases its created into something creatively different.

Wow...she's lucky...I was going to plan to go but wasn't completely sure about the location and now they are calling for bad weather...I live about 100 miles from Atlanta...maybe I can catch them at another venue sometime soon. I'm sure they don't dissapoint. Thx for the response.
I am amazed about all the fond memories people have of MF dating back to the 70's..I booked this band back when they were just getting attention..and they were great then. I have loved MF and have sung their tunes in my mind forever. I am now 53 and still think this band should have been superstars. All of you would have loved to see MF rock a small baptist college in Murfreesboro NC..Chowan..I brought them there and they rocked the house...I am still so glad they came...Rock On MF..Joe Hig
I also own this album, a "promotional copy" was my first crush song too... "baby, baby, baby, baby"... Back in the day it was played in high-rotation on Albany's WJIZ, 96.3 (GA) and yes, I agree with all your positive comments, they should have been bigger!
It is their very best song! I remember I was a dj back then and I always started my show with Mickey's Monkey. I closed with slow songs and Thank You for the Love was and is still my favorite as well as one of the most requested songs ever.
I remember seeing them in Augusta (GA) back in the 70's. They're better NOW than they were THEN. And they were kicking ass back THEN !!!!!!!!!! An incredible group of performers !!!!!!!!!!!
Augusta's good, Athens is better. We were at the same show @ the same time. MF will be performing @ the Handlebar in G'ville, SC in mid Jan 2010. Good venue for this great band. Drink a Terrapin for me.
Verrek, dit nummer kon ik maar niet vinden, omdat ik de titel kwijt was. Maar oh jongens, wat een herinneringen. Anita, al die opwindende nachten in Italie!
Dam, couldn´t find this song, becuase I last the title. But oh boys, what a memories. Anita, all those exciting nights in Italy!
My first secular concert was Mother's Finest, Cheap Trick and AC/DC; MF came out, did this, Mickey's Monkey, Baby Love and Truth Will Set You Free. It seems liker they hustled them off stage, cause folks were tepid for Cheap Trick when they came on, and AC/DC had to work hard to get the audience back...PEACE.
Mother's Finest ! I've been blown away by this band since I first saw them on Don Kirchner's Rock Concert in 1976. The pinnacle of Atlanta Party Bands! They were also responsible for easing race relations back in the 70's by appealing to many different cultures. When they played we all partied! Still happens this very day! a band we can all agree on! A very Psychological thing happening here...
This is a treat to listen to. We use to sing this song, biking home early in the morning, after a big party, hoping to wake up the neighbourhood... ahh such a long time ago, but such great memories...
thank you so much for posting, made me a happy dutch lady..
yes, a travesty they didn't make it bigger ... i knew them in high school in atlanta in the70's... just went to see them month ago ... rocked the house ... joyce is a goddess
Fine city. A lot of good music came from there huh? I was pleased to visit the city in 2003. My favourite view is from the top balcony of the hotel they built for the Opympics (looking down inside the building). I've no idea why I never haerd of this band 'til recently. They are excellent.
thank you soooooooo much for listing this song...it took me waaaaaaaaaay back to the Apartment Club days back in Mphs, TN(89-94). R I P:Michelle"micky mack"Ross; Samoa"sam"Ross
GOLD!!!!!! Brings bk memories .. and Wyzard is the nicest most down to earth dude to chat with and this album was the reason I picked up the bass guitar and learned to Funk!
yeah, thank you for the love, you give me good feelings, Del State 1978, Damn good memories Thank you Monthers Finest, you give me good feelings, thank you for the heartackes, thank you for all those lies, the tears I cried. Yeah sho nuff Damn good feelings, can you feel me!
They are not from Doraville, they are from Sandy Springs Ga. I285 Hwy. at Roswell Rd. Exit #17 by the Prado shopping center. I know because I had a friend that were their neighbor. But any way we used to take their music to Florida in Spring break and people would ask us where they could get this music.
I've been searching for this song so long. brings back good memories of the one time I was truly in LOVE sadly to say it ended in disaster but the LORD knows I was Happy way back when.
Grew up with Mother's Finest in Mid & late 70's,,,,This one is Joyce at her best,,,lyrics are heartfelt!!!

I have seen this band destroy every other band that happened to be on the same bill with them, sometimes in front of 40,000---or more.

Fine city. A lot of good music came from there huh? I was pleased to visit the city in 2003. My favourite view is from the top balcony of the hotel they built for the Opympics (looking down inside the building). I've no idea why I never haerd of this band 'til recently. They are excellent.
